Re: Cheese Curds - News Around The League 2025

Clay Matthews was the perfect match for Kevin Greene. The hair. The personality. It was a privelage. 2007 - 2010 will forever be my favorite window of Packers football. What a magical and fun, passionate timeframe that was. So cool it was topped off with a ring and so cool moments like "it is ...

Re: Packers 2025 Schedule

What on earth could be the rationale for a week 8 game between the Falcons and Dolphins being the one game on the schedule with no line available?

Re: Depth Chart

Woah! Media guides! I totally forgot about those. As the son of a sports writer, we had SHELVES full. Orioles, Bullets, Redskins, Navy athletics. Big plastic bindings. I did so much research with those. And now my mind has just totally wiped them out of existence until this moment.

Re: Depth Chart

The May depth chart is as reliable as a politicians campaign promises. Yeah I am pretty sure the depth chart is made by Jason Wallers or Wes Hodkowikz prior to the season start. It's media developed. I'm not sure how many coaches have to explicitly explain to how many media members that the website...

Early bye week. Better get the one-seed to get a late bye week, too.

2 home games to start the season... Interesting.
Aren't we a 8 home/9 away split, also?

That's gonna backload a lot of away games

6 home/9 away for the rest of the season.

Interesting, indeed.

Re: Call Me Crazy, but....

I guess my thoughts are I would rather have 5 good/not great OL versus 4 elite and 1 inept player. I think that is what also very much what played out in the playoff game, too. You can win with Josh Myers. You can't win with rookie Travis Glover or Kadeem Telfort. So, when you develop an elite RT (...

Re: Call Me Crazy, but....

I'm not denying that the gap is shrinking. I'm just saying it still exists. What has gone away completely is that it used to be LTs had to be pass protectors and RTs were more run-oriented. And you could get away with a mediocre RT more so than a left. Now you for sure need two good pass-protecting ...

Re: Call Me Crazy, but....

who complained about depth? we now have 4 tackles, unless you consider one of those 4 ag/c then one or even two of those tackles will ride pine, that's reality, trading Walker for a 2nd rounder or a CB seems logical Yeah, I'm just not sure yet if we have 4 tackles or 2 tackles. Counting on Belton a...

Re: Cheese Curds - News Around The League 2025

Gabe Davis does seem like a pretty ideal WR choice for the Steelers, given the size and outside ability to be opposite DK with Calvin Austin and/or Roman Wilson operating in the slot.

But Buffalo is interested in bringing him back, too, allegedly.

Re: Call Me Crazy, but....

if we are to trade a player, to me the biggest draw would be Rashad WAlker, he's probably a LT only, and that position is still a need position for some teams, our two players on the line that took a dip, Myers obviously, and Jenkins slightly https://www.si.com/nfl/packers/packers-2024-report-card-...

Re: Call Me Crazy, but....

Let's remember Tom's rookie season in Green Bay: Tom was on the field for 489 snaps, with 295 coming at left tackle, 96 at left guard, 14 at right guard, and 84 at right tackle. They didn't CHOOSE his spot. In 2023, there was an open competition at RT while Bakhtiari was the assumed LT starter despi...

Re: Call Me Crazy, but....

Well according to over the cap, there are 4 right tackles making 20+M/year and 11 left tackles making the same. So until those numbers balance, In going to factually assert that left tackles remain the most valuable position on the OL. But let's look at the Packers. Cleary Tom is the best player on...

Re: Call Me Crazy, but....

There was something off on our Oline last year and it showed up big against the tough opponents. Right in the middle. The guy no longer here. I don't know if it related to his running mates, but Jenkins was also playing well below his capabilities last year. I specifically remember him getting his ...

Re: Mike McCarthy gone

So he has Brees before Brees broke out. He had Gannon before Gannon broke out. And Montana when he was washed. One could say he didn’t have good QBs. One could also say he didn’t have the staff to get the best out of these guys who were great either later or earlier in their careers. But he was an e...

Re: Mike McCarthy gone

It's also funny because McCarthy came up under Marty Schottenheimer. Marty was a legendary coach most well-known for not being able to get his team over the top. He was a very fundamentals, run the ball, stop the run kind of guy. TONS of regular season success, playoff failures. McCarthy was essenti...
