Re: Rank the Roster 2023: #3

Next poll I'll add a fresh batch. Nixon, Doubs, LVN and ??? (2 more) Gary and Clark here for me. I think Gary is a bigger difference maker, but Clark is overall better at his position. Clark goes through stretches where he turns invisible, and also stretches where he totally dominates and takes over...

Re: Rank the Roster 2023: #2

Jaire gets the first post-Rodgers #1 spot My order here is: Jones, Gary, Clark, Bak, Dillon I was dissappointed that Jones wasn't used more in the passing game last year. It'll be interesting to see how much of that was scheme, and how much was it Rodgers' decision making. This year there doesn't se...

Re: Rank the Roster 2022: #1

We could I suppose. I'll add Watson right away next poll. It'd be a weird situation where a player not in the top 20 last year is in the running for #1; I just copy last year's list into the first poll. That methodology left Tonyan the top player on the poll for a while last year. I'm surprised at h...

Re: Rank the Roster 2022: #1

Maybe I missed it, but did the team add anyone (FA) relevant at all in the offseason? I don't think any of the rookies have a clear cut shot at significant early playing time (no Quay this year). Maybe one of the TE's, but which one? LVN will rotate surely, but I don't think he has the kind of game ...

Re: Rank the Roster 2022: #1

Gosh I'm really torn on #1. I'm not sure Bak is that guy anymore. Gary is coming off an acl. Jaire isn't coming off a great year. Noone new is really stepping into the spot (Quay and Watson are still a season from the top 5, let alone #1). Has to be Jones, right? Our one man band when we need a spar...

Rank the Roster 2023: #1

Welcome to Rank the Roster 2023. A space filling waste of time to argue about minutiae (and get to know the roster), at the conclusion of which, training camp begins. As always, the starting list comes from last year's poll results, last year's top 20. Rodgers (#1), Amos (#9), Lazard (#15), and Watk...

Re: Rd 5: Dontayvion Wicks - WR

Green Bay took Jones in the 3rd and pretty much everyone would agree it was a good pick. If Wicks becomes anything close to the player Jones became this is a serious steal. Even if a JAG; Green Bay consistently has that guy and needs that guy, the chain movers. Thing with Jones is that he was a craz...

Re: Round 1 Pick 13 - Lukas Van Ness

Is nobody here concerned about the bench press reps that VN did during the combine? Yes Vertical is concerning. 10 yard split isn't great either. I expect him to take some time to develop. Vertical is for sure more concerning than his bench. His broad was good though. Honestly, maybe @wallyuwl can ...

Re: Round 1 Pick 13 - Lukas Van Ness

Above 15 reps there is very little relationship to strength. Not true. The accuracy of prediction equations for 1RM goes down as you increase reps (lower % 1RM), but to say there is "very little" relationship is not true. There is even a 0.8 correlation between grip strength and squat str...

Re: Round 1 Pick 13 - Lukas Van Ness

Nah, the guy has speed Kampman could only dream of. Huh? That's the reason GB took a flier on Kamp, his freaky good speed for his size. Remember Kamp was a DT coming out of college and was super fat. It took a few years to slim down to DE/OLB size (he lost like 20 lbs). His game was based off the b...

Re: Round 1 Pick 13 - Lukas Van Ness

All the scouting reports credit him for playing with great power and strength but his bench reps were pretty bad. How does that jive? Is the dude just not technically good with lifting a heavy bar? You can train pretty easily to improve your bench, especially at that high a weight and he's only 21....

Hope we get to see a lot of Love to Watson in the next decade.
I'm ready to move on to this now.

This is the way.

Dare I say that is an Aaron Rodgers throw?!
It is reminiscent of ARod in his younger years. If that was Davante or Jordy out there, it would've had a shot at being completed, too.
James Jones would have caught that, he was good at the tough ones.

Re: The Jordan Love decision

Checking in because I was critical of Love last week when I thought he deserved it. But I want to show up and give him credit when he has good outings too. Good game Love! Respect Tim Boyle is like, wait, I did the same thing against second and third stringers in preseason. Wtf? IDK, those 4 throws...
