Packers to sign De'Vondre Campbell

wow, this looks like a rerun of every ILB we've had since AJ to slow to react Hawk or less so Bishop and Barnett, he sat there polarized on the RB while the receiver ran right through his zone for the TD, hopefully Barry can fix that.
At this point I am just happy to have one more person in the mix to compete to help ensure Burks never sees the field at ILB again this season. Any move made to ensure Burks never sees the field at ILB is a positive in my eyes.
I Do Not Hate Matt Lafleur
He's in the 85th percentile for speed as an off ball LB - that's pretty goodNCF wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021 10:03Not as fast as I was thinking.

He played in minny, so he's experienced some football weather
this signing explains the flights from AZ; I had guessed those were for Jordan Hicks- apparently GB liked Campbell better

Only when stated for the 43rd time of the day in the 7th thread.Yoop wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021 10:16ehh, pumping our chest for liking a guy to much is frowned upon hereYoHoChecko wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021 10:09Ok, I know this sounds silly, but I have been wanting this guy for YEARS

Outside of his sophomore year PFF thinks he has been downright terrible. That was the year the Falcons went to the SB I believe. 2 teams have cast him off now. Im not sure hes that great a player.
I gotta know the contract details. Would have much preferred KJ Wright

So Matt LaFleur was in Atlant when they drafted him and went to the Super Bowl.
Provides someone who can play, some experience, something we are desperately lacking at ILB.
I don't know if he was exactly a cast off, played out both contracts. No idea if Atlanta tried to sign him off his rookie contract or not, he got 7 million last year from Arizona. More than Kirksey got last offseason on a per year bases (2 years at 6.5). But tomato tomato.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021 11:25Outside of his sophomore year PFF thinks he has been downright terrible. Yeah his progression was weird. I don’t know if they changed his role or he just got lazy or what happened. But he appeared to be a talented player on the rise through two years and then suddenly couldn’t function in Atlanta. Fans hated him, analysts trashed him, advanced metrics panned him.
He went to Arizona and still started all 16 games.
I don’t view him as a solution, but as a viable reclamation project for a defensive coach who has gotten strong play from otherwise unknown LBs at multiple times in his career.
I’m intrigued and optimistic, but even I, who has a five year history of mentioning this guy’s name once or twice a year, am only that: intrigued and cautiously optimistic.
By no means should this count to most people as an exciting signing. I’m just excited personally

is that all it was, I'am really slipping, years back I'am sure I eclipsed a measly 43 redundent post pounding my chest when I got a choice right, I bet I exceeded a 100 post when Ted traded up for Mathews who was also a huge draft crush of mineBF004 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021 10:49Only when stated for the 43rd time of the day in the 7th thread.Yoop wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021 10:16ehh, pumping our chest for liking a guy to much is frowned upon hereYoHoChecko wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021 10:09Ok, I know this sounds silly, but I have been wanting this guy for YEARS

I would say Burks is on the chopping block before Summers. He hasnt been very good but it is just year 3 for him. He was a 7th round pick. I would say Summers was successful for a 7th round pick as a decent to good special teams player.

I’m keeping a big fat eye on Kamal Martin.
Kid was primed to be a pretty high draft pick, missed a bunch of 2019 an injury. Didn’t get a real 2020 offseason with covid, pretty much had a starting role in sights during TC and missed some time again, and missed even more time mid season with Covid. Had some really good snaps last year given those circumstances.
If he can stay healthy, he’s probably the best of the lot. Great size and athleticism, I think plus instincts as well.
Excited about the potential of Barnes and Martin. Will be kind of shocked if at least one of them isn’t a quality starter for us in the near future.

Yeah, I am still super high on him, too. People are questioning his instincts, already, but to me, I think he was guessing a lot. And guessing wrong. Watching him last year, though, I will still take a guy trying to make a play when no one else is even if he is guessing wrong he is going 100 MPH. I will take some variance in his play for a few splash plays and TFL's. Honestly, without those plays, defenses cannot win in today's game.BF004 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021 15:39I’m keeping a big fat eye on Kamal Martin.

Im way higher on 7th round pick Summers taking a roster spot and playing special teams than I am Burks. I hope Burks is putting his hard earned degree from Vandy to use soon.

Yeah, unfortunately, he probably is more well suited for a "real-world" job. Super intelligent and likeable guy. Just not good at playing football.

Love this signing. ATL keeps churning out solid ILBs. I bet their practice squad guys would have been starters for us the past 5 years. Good to have that influence in the locker room so he can show our guys how to do it right.
Looks to be this year's Funchess ... As in he will viewed as Urlacher but probably never play a down.

Campbell definitely has that "27 going on 45" look to him
