Anyone happen to know if any good Saints beat writers or a Saint a day podcast? Be interested in seeing some of their thoughts, on the experience, practice, their take on our guys.
Hopefully Bukowski will do a crossover with the Saints locked on host.

Rodgers, without mentioning names, criticized poor route-running by Doubs, Amari Rodgers and tight end Tyler Davis that contributed to interceptions by backup quarterback Jordan Love in Green Bay’s exhibition loss at San Francisco last Friday night. Doubs, a rookie fourth-round pick, has made splash plays throughout camp but also has an issue with dropped passes.
“You keep dropping the ball, you’re not going to be out there,” Rodgers said. “It’s going to be the most reliable guys that are out there. The preparation and the job responsibility is most important. There’s going to be physical mistakes, like we’ve talked about, but if you’re going out there and dropping the ball and somebody else behind you is in the right spot all the time and catching the ball, that guy’s going to play.”
There’s a fine line between being patient with young players and reaching the point where they need to produce, and Rodgers apparently is nearing that intersection.
“It’s coming up,” Rodgers said. “It really is. We’re going to play our best guys when the season starts. And whoever those guys are, those guys are going to get the reps. It’s the guys I trust the most and the guys the coaches trust the most.”
Right now, that group includes Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Sammy Watkins. One bright spot Tuesday, according to Rodgers, was that he thought it was the best practice of camp to date for Watkins, a free-agent pickup.
It’s going to be fascinating this season to see how Rodgers distributes the ball as the Packers replace Davante Adams, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders after catching 123 passes for 1,553 yards last season.
Rodgers believes running backs Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon can each get to 50 receptions his season. Could Rodgers envision a scenario where a handful of players finish between 40 and 60 catches — a true committee approach — while the Packers rely heavily on their running game and defense?
“Yeah, maybe, but I expect there will be a couple that kind of break out from that and have really exceptional seasons,” Rodgers said. “The exciting part is you don’t know who that’s going to be. I feel like (Lazard) is going to be one of them and, after that, it will be interesting.”
Expecting big seasons from Cobb and Watkins seems like a lot to ask considering they’re 31 and 29 years old, respectively.
More help is on the way — rookie wide receiver Christian Watson, a second-round pick, and veteran tight end Robert Tonyan came off the PUP list earlier this week — but the former is a project and the latter is coming off a major knee injury.
That makes it even more imperative that young players such as Doubs and Amari Rodgers expedite their growth process.
Instead, it was Amari Rodgers running, in Aaron Rodgers’ words, a “terrible route” in the game against San Francisco. And it was Doubs dropping a deep ball in the practice with the Saints on what was Rodgers’ best throw of the day.
“It’s good we do it in practice,” Rodgers said. “It’s unfortunately some of the same guys. Repeat mistakes are a problem, so we’ve just got to clean those things up a little bit. The young guys, especially young receivers, we’ve got to be way more consistent. A lot of drops, a lot of bad route decisions, running the wrong route. We’ve got to get better in that area.”
The sooner the better, as far as Rodgers is concerned.

I wasn't happy at all with the offensive showing. Frankly, the Saints D owned the Packers O all day. Had sacks been allowed, the Saints would have had about 9. Drops by WRs, and Tyler Davis looked lost on several plays. The Pack needs Bobby out there in the worst way. Tyler Davis and Deguara are not NFL level TEs. The running game left a lot to be desired. I give the OL a F grade, and the overall offense a D. Aaron was far from perfect as well. I expect better from this unit. Hoping to see much better today. Today reminded of why the offense scored only 10 points against San Fran.
Defense looked good, but not great. Always room for improvement. I liked the energy, Joe Barry keeps that unit up.
I wish LaFleur did the same with the offense. It's the same old same old with the offense. There is just no fire in them. I have to feel like some of that is LaFleur's low key personality. The whole unit is a lower level for energy. Steno is low key as well, so he hasn't brought any energy to the dance. Today was the first day I missed Hackett. Aaron isn't exactly a higher energy guy either. The O sleep walks through the process. This shows on Sundays against good teams. The Packers O gets owned by high energy, good defenses. They have been getting owned all camp by their own D.
I was actually embarrassed of the offense today. Sat next to a Saints fan during part of practice, he could tell I was not pleased.
This was a unacceptable performance. I also am not convinced the special teams unit is all that much better with Bisaccia. I need to see more, and I hope I see more from them come week 1. So far in camp, the days I have been there, not impressive.
Overall I give the whole team a C- for day one of joint practices. Really hope I see some things cleaned up today.
Some here may say I'm being negative. This is a Super Bowl roster, that is the expectation. This team is not getting near Arizona in February unless things get substantially better real fast. The energy of the offense concerns me. It's been a low energy group for a while now. I honestly blame LaFleur.
LaFleur often says after a loss: "It starts with me." Ok, Matt, you tell us why the offense still looks dead on arrival too often. When it matters the O hasn't shown up in the playoffs. Today was more of the same from that too often sleep walking group.
To start the season I hope the starting OL is:
LT- Yosh
LG- Runyan
C- Myers
RG- Tom
RT- Elgton
Those are the five that have a chance of not getting owned by Minnie in week 1. For those of you thinking Dave will be back...keep dreaming.
Let's wake the F up today and hit the grass with a fire. Enough of this crap. This is TitleTown. Let's show this is a team that can bring home a Lombardi. It's been too long.
Good thing is that they have just under four weeks to get things together. Gute gave LaFleur the talent. He needs to produce some hardware this season or dare I say HOT SEAT? That is reality folks. Some of you may need to wake up too. It's Lombardi or bust this season.

Generally I like your post that the O lacks passion for the game. Individuals have it, Jones, Tonyan, Bakh, Jenkins, Runyan, Lazard, Cobb but as a unit I agree that they do not. Maybe Doubs and Watson have the passion also, hard to know with rookies and last year's rookies.PackerNation wrote: ↑17 Aug 2022 01:49I wasn't happy at all with the offensive showing. I hope that Bakh is at LT to start the season. And tell me please why you think that starting a mid round draft pick rookie at RG is a good idea. Particularly since Tom was generally regarded as a project in the draft. You might want to look back a year and read the hype on Newman and how great it was to find such an exceptionally mature athletic lineman so late in the draft - and then he had to go up against stunts and physically mature Dlineman and it was December before he was playing well.
Thanks for the reportPackerNation and others!!
Man, these joint practices would be so fun to see. Another level of intensity. I'd rather go to these practices than actual pre-season games...

I do like that Rodgers is setting the tone and standard now and calling out poor performance. I will just say it’s a good thing if he does that, then continues to go back to those players so they can make better plays and build confidence. It will be a bad thing if he writes off the players for their mistakes and they basically ride the pine their Rookie year because they “weren’t ready”. I agree with Lupe that we need to accept failure more in the regular season, if it prepares us more for the war that is the playoffs. I would rather Rodgers not win MVP, would rather not have a one seed, if that means losing a couple more games, still winning the division, and going into the playoffs with a deeper roster that has touched the ball and been involved throughout the year

for 1. why would Lafluer show the saints any more then the most vanilla offensive schemes, that wouldn't make any sense at all, and this is the second time we've played against anyone but our own defense, I always go back to McCarthy playing the last game of the season against the Cardinals in I think it was 09, he used every trick in the bag, and the following week was trickless, imo it's best to not do any more then it takes to win cause you put to much on tape for teams to scheme you.
Lafluer has the best season record in his first 3 seasons then any coach in history, and your going to second guess what he does, are you on some sort of medication
Amari Rodgers had 90+ yards on 4 touches, one a 50+ return, our ST's did pretty good the other night.
there will be some growing pains on offense, after the top 4 the rest are recruits, gotta give that stuff time to work, as Rodgers said both Jones and Dillon will play a bigger part in the receivers department, it's a long haul to playoff time, it's not how you start as much as how you arrive at the destination that counts most.
we tend to end strong and mistakes in the big games that kill us, I think your over reacting a bit P N

Aaron Rodgers said, basically, the Packers' O played the Saints' D to a stalemate; compared with the fact that the Packers' D was handing it to them almost every day.
Rodgers did seem more positive about the OL than PackerNation's post
But I think "the offensive line is struggling and the offense hasn't clicked yet" is a pretty reasonable take that is widely shared by various observers.
I think 4 weeks is a long time. I feel really good about where things are going. Jenkins is back for the OL. Bakh will be. The young WR have plenty of talent, and a variety of opportunities, and are being pushed to improve; but there are veterans that Rodgers trusts in the mean time (he specifically mentioned Lazard, that he could play with Cobb with his eyes closed, and that Sammy has really begun to prove himself with him).
If we had a regular season game tomorrow, I'd be anxious. But we don't. Not for nearly 4 weeks. This is the process. Coaching turnover, personnel turnover, competition, youth... there's a lot to work through. That's why we have camp.

Am I correct in saying that Jenkins did not practice in the team setting yesterday and will not today?

Yep. Tonyan, Jenkins, and Watson all are only doing individual drills.

Ok good, then I think we can safely say the o-line will improve just by his addition.

This is a really interesting point that I hadn't considered when Hackett left; we are not left with many guys on the O side with that kind of enthusiastic energy to fire us up. It leaves a bit of a void. The D has had guys like Gary and Douglas stepping up and being vocal, not to mention D-Coord himself. 'Teams has Biasccia.PackerNation wrote: ↑17 Aug 2022 01:49It's the same old same old with the offense. There is just no fire in them. But yeah, who are those guys on the O? I've heard Bakhtiari can be pretty vocal, but that loses something when you're stuck on the sidelines. I have noticed that Lazard can be pretty feisty, and now that he's set to get a bigger role, maybe he could be one of those guys. Big Dog is said to be a great locker room presence but does he fire guys up when they need a shot-in-the-arm? I've not seen that.

Sounds like the Offense struggled to move the ball today, but in the red zone, they were pretty on point
Also sounds like Love and Toure have some trust and chemistry with the 2s.
Glad to hear Winfree and Watson are making some plays in the end zone. Red zone needs to improve over last year, and losing Adams' ability to separate created another need. Tonyan will help there, too.

This is super nice, although we should try to get Andy on there. https://twitter.com/i/lists/3378646
Sounds like great days for Kobe Jones and Enegbare, again. Kobe been running with the 1's when Gary or Preston not on the field.
Gary and DL just constant pressure again.
Sounds like Barnes had a few nice run stuffs.
Sammy Watkins seems to be distancing himself as #1 WR right now.
Doubs still making an impact every play he is out there and sounds like Aaron still trusts him enough to throw to him a lot today.
Love sounding better, Samori Toure making quite a few plays. Sounds like he's been in on #1 special teams a lot, I'd probably give him the nod over Winfree right now if only 1 can make it.

Plural rookies; Rodgers talked to "a couple" of young guys who "are rookies." Watson hasn't been out there. Sounds like Rodgers is talking to Doubs and Toure about mental mistakes.I had a conversation with a couple of the young guys about the standard we’re going to hold them to. They are rookies, but they’re NFL players and what’s been on film hasn’t been good enough as of yet. There’s been some splash plays, but there’s been a lot of mistakes.
Yeah Winfree seems to solidly be in that second tier of the WR group with Doubs, both behind Lazard/Cobb/Watkins. Not to mention, he has taken ST snaps (gunner). I never doubted his talent, just wasn't sure if he had a role, but he seems to have carved one out.
