Without a doubt this is the biggest error in Brian Gutekunst this offseason and virtually never gets talked about.
They were in a "win now" mode. The Packers could have made the trade and should have made trade. Instead they played the middle by keeping this piece of their strategy safe.
If there is any move I have zero problem condemning BG for this offseason...it was not making a trade for AJ Brown.

Great Panthers Hail Mary. 12 seconds left. 48 yard extra point attempt missed. Craziness!
McCaffrey is just the perfect RB for the 49er offense. He’s good at everything Shanahan wants to do.
Although to be fair, he’d be good in just about any offense…except the 2022 Panther offense.
…and probably the 2022 Packer offense. He’d only get 10 touches a game.

It didn't have to be AJ Brown, it just had to be better then the fragile as glass Watkins, He relied on his Rookies to make a difference just as he did with the 3 stooges in 2018, all 6 picks very raw, that Rodgers is expected to make consistent players out of.go pak go wrote: ↑30 Oct 2022 13:41Without a doubt this is the biggest error in Brian Gutekunst this offseason and virtually never gets talked about.

The only player who had any real talent, not always injured and not old who could fit in the 2022 cap was AJ Brown.Yoop wrote: ↑30 Oct 2022 17:50It didn't have to be AJ Brown, it just had to be better then the fragile as glass Watkins, He relied on his Rookies to make a difference just as he did with the 3 stooges in 2018, all 6 picks very raw, that Rodgers is expected to make consistent players out of.go pak go wrote: ↑30 Oct 2022 13:41Without a doubt this is the biggest error in Brian Gutekunst this offseason and virtually never gets talked about.

Yes. The obvious answer was AJ Brown. It's why you didn't say any names but instead a generality of "anyone better than Watkins and rookies"
Man.
I'm starting to get mighty jealous of Seattle right now. They did literally what I wanted GB to do in the offseason and are now going to be 5-3 with a run of the mill QB.
