The play was designed to go to Doubs. It is simple. They needed 1 yard and the ball was for Doubs.
If Rodgers holds and lets the play develop Doubs is not an option in the flat under any circumstance.
It was a decent play call. Def made a good play - didn't bit on Sammy. If Doubs got a good hold and reached out its a first down.
You wouldn't audible based on the pre snap as Sammys corner was slightly off and they were all playing man. That corner made a great high risk high reward knowing the time of the game and what the packers needed.

thats what I've been doing through most of this conversation, and why I just yesterday commented, you think you know something based on what you'd do with hind sight in that situation and like all the media think you know what the called play was, other then simply throwing the short pass just enough for a 1st down that Rodgers did.

Nope, not guessing. Looking at what played out on the field and putting it all together. Either it was a poor play call and LaFleur told Rodgers to go short or it was Rodgers determining where he would go before the snap. If it's the former, it's a bad play call as it should have been an actual screen then. If it's the latter, teams are showing stuff to get Rodgers to do what they want and Rodgers must make post snap reads. That said we know what the play actually was, it's fairly easy to tell when one actually watches the play through. It was as the OP video said.

Nah. He said the playcall might have been sus too, but ultimately it was probably on Rodgers. We don't know the play. Like this playcall was FANTASTIC. We had em hook, line and sinker on this play and we failed to convert all because the QB was impatient.
This one has to be real frustrating to MLF because this should have been discussed as a great play call but instead will get forgotten about.
