From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Atlanta 2011 might be his best playoff game, might, but there are certainly better games throughout his career: https://stathead.com/tiny/R95fS
Yeah. The top three playoff games for Rodgers in my mind is:
1. Atlanta 2011
2. Dallas 2016
3. Tie between the 2009 wildcard game and the SB. I think Rodgers sucked early with turnovers if I remember but then just balled out after that. It's really too bad he overthrew Jennings.
I will say this, though, in Favre's favor... when we used to fall behind by 14 points when Favre was our QB, I didn't see the deficit as insurmountable and felt like pretty confident we could comeback if there was still a lot of ballgame left. With Rodgers, coming back from 14 down feels very difficult.
This year was actually better than usual, we showed more resilience when falling behind than we usually do, but we regressed hard last Sunday.

Is there a consensus about their absolute best games? Rodgers I think its the divisional game vs. Atlanta in 2011. I am pretty confident almost all Packers fans could agree, I couldnt think of a more prolific show he had. But Favre? Since I only follow the NFL since 2007 I am not sure.
If you were at 3-Com Park on January 6, 1996 watching Favre carve up the defending Super Bowl Champ San Francisco 49ers you would have started to form a mindset for Favre best games. The 1996 season cemented Favre's legacy. The 1997 NFCCG at San Francisco in the rain, where Favre's completions to Brooks and Freeman further cemented Favre's legacy. Not to mention the precision pass to Dorsey Levens in the Lambeau Field endzone in the 1996 NFCCG. I'd have to go to the archives to dig out Favre's best games.
Don't worry I have respect for the Rodgers to Cobb throw at Soldier Field against Da Bears, and the Rodgers to Jared Cook along the Dallas sideline throw, plus his Hail Mary's. And his 4 MVPs and whatever other notable events occured since 2008. 1 and 4 in NFCCGs says it all in my humble opinion. Used to have confidence that Rodgers would pull off a win in big games, but the confidence no longer exists.

Who is better? Who would you let play on your team if you had to decide right now?
Right now? Rodgers, quite easily.
Even by the standards of *his* time, Favre threw too many INTs. Today, QBs (not just Rodgers) have to play much more mistake-free football.
For comparison, Dak Prescott and Davis Mills(<-- worst QB in the league of those that started most of the season) tied for the most INTs thrown this season at 15 picks.
Brett Favre's lowest INT season is 2009, when he threw 7 as a Viking, a statistical anomaly in his career. The next lowest are three seasons of 13 INTs, which would tie him with the decaying Matt Ryan this year (but behind ProBowl-bound Josh Allen and kraut corsin, take that fwiw, but also behind Derek Carr who was just benched). Then one year with 14, two years with 15.
And then a whopping 12 seasons with 16 or more. He threw more than 20 INTs in six (SIX!) seasons.
You can't throw that many INTs in today's NFL. If you are gonna throw even 14 INTs, you better make up for it with A LOT of TDs, like Josh Allen's 35. Six QBs have 29 or more TDs, and 14 was on the low end for Favre; he was more likely to throw a lot more.
I think you hit the nail on the head with your first question. What era are we talking about? Because I don't think either would have had the level of success that they had, had they played in each others' eras.
I think a prime Favre (or 39 y/o) would have benefitted slightly from playing in the 2010's, and I do not think Rodgers' style of play would have served him as well had he played in the 90's.
I don't think either would have had the level of success that they had, had they played in each others' eras.
Are you thinking Rodgers because he wasn't able to stay particularly healthy in this era of QB protection and Favre because he didn't take care of the football?
Rodgers never did learn how to take a fall and/or protect himself as Brady or Manning did. Favre just heaved it at times.

Keep in mind, though, the NFL rules were considerably different in Favre's day than they are today. Defenders were still allowed to basically molest and wrestle with WRs all over the field back then and I'd say Favre's windows to throw into were considerably smaller and the catches much more contested. Not saying Favre wasn't sometimes oblivious to risk and made some dumb throws, but I believe back in his day his interception numbers weren't too far above norm. That's going off memory, anyway.
I will say I think Favre's spectacular plays were better than Rodgers. Throws that made you just shake your head and say wow. Rodgers has some of those, too, but my memory favors Favre in that regard.
time makes memory of long ago things faint and eventually non existent
in playoff moments when losing most QB's ( at least the two in this conversation) will risk throwing into double coverage and tight windows and would lay down there life to win, thing is they also become narrow sighted, so focused on the prize they tend to lack the receivers surrounding coverage, picks happen, all QB's are guilty of this, some more then others, Favre was such a QB, he did lay it all out to win, but with mixed results,, to say he didn't see the lurking DB would be a understatement, and thats why he threw so many interceptions
Rodgers too played till the whistle, however I think he was able to see the coverages better, and naturally threw less pickable passes, I think this season being a anomaly, Rodgers for his career protected the ball more imo.
Well the question was "right now" so yes, I am assuming today's NFL.
I feel like Favre made wow plays, whereas Rodgers made wow throws, if that makes sense. The skill behind Rodgers's throws were more impressive IMO; Favre would pull a rabbit out of a hat in the most improbable situations (you're like: okay this is a sack... wait, holy &%$@ wat).
Rodgers for me on great plays, but it's very much a personal preference thing.
