Rodgers Watch 2023

There are a lot of teams that need a QB next year. If Rodgers comes back..and Love has any confidence in himself at all…he should demand a trade. Enoughs enough for the first round pick.
It’s time he sets himself to get really paid, and really play football in the next couple seasons.
If he knows he sucks hel just sit quiet and collect paychecks.
This will tell me a lot about his competitive fire.

I agree but I also wonder whether there is any team he can go to right now where he'd be considered the clear cut #1 starter from the outset. Many of us were happy with what he put on tape this season against the Eagles, but is that realistically enough for a GM to plan on him being the starting QB? Honestly asking, I really don't know.Drj820 wrote: ↑09 Feb 2023 16:27There are a lot of teams that need a QB next year. One answer to my own question could be: Ron Wolf gave up a 1st round pick for a backup QB that became a legend, so maybe Love has shown enough?
I do not think Love will be in position to demand a starting job, unless he just goes somewhere that has NO other options…but he could go somewhere that he has a legit shot to compete for the starting job. He should have confidence in himself to be able to win a job if he’s just given a fair shot.Captain_Ben wrote: ↑09 Feb 2023 17:08I agree but I also wonder whether there is any team he can go to right now where he'd be considered the clear cut #1 starter from the outset. He needs to leave GB if rodgers comes back if he thinks he can play because he has a 0% shot to start in that scenario. Like none.

No starting college QB lacks confidence in themselves let alone a first round NFL QB.
Love's camp had already let slip he will want a trade if he still must wait in 2023.

I can't believe Love and Rodgers are still represented by the same agency. Different agents, but both named David by coincidence. Those must be interesting meetings.

The David line made me laugh. It happens to be my first name. In 1st grade, there were 7 Davids in my class. If one of did something and the teacher yelled, we all jumped.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑09 Feb 2023 22:28I can't believe Love and Rodgers are still represented by the same agency. Nowhere was it said he is going to do dangerous drugs, get high and hallucinate.
He said he is going to a retreat in which he is in solitary confinement in the dark for four days. A time for complete reflection, introspection and mediation.
But yeah make up whatever drivel you want to support your narrative.
Let's see what MR. Rodgers said,
DMT'S ?? = DMT, SPL026) is a substituted tryptamine that occurs in many plants and animals, including human beings, and which is both a derivative and a structural analog of tryptamine.[3] It is used as a psychedelic drug and prepared by various cultures for ritual purposes as an entheogen.[4]“It’s not like you bring a journal or you bring music or anything,” Rodgers said on McAfee’s show. “There’s no sounds. It’s just sitting in isolation, meditation, dealing with your thoughts. It stimulates DMT, so there can be some hallucinations in there, but it’s just kind of sitting in silence, which most of us never do. We rarely even turn our phone off or put the blinds down to sleep in darkness. I’m really looking forward to it.”
DMT has a rapid onset, intense effects, and a relatively short duration of action. For those reasons, DMT was known as the "business trip" during the 1960s in the United States, as a user could access the full depth of a psychedelic experience in considerably less time than with other substances such as LSD or psilocybin mushrooms.[5] DMT can be inhaled, ingested, or injected and its effects depend on the dose, as well as the mode of administration. When inhaled or injected, the effects last a short period of time: about five to 15 minutes. Effects can last three hours or more when orally ingested along with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), such as the ayahuasca brew of many native Amazonian tribes.[6] DMT can produce vivid "projections" of mystical experiences involving euphoria and dynamic pseudohallucinations of geometric forms.[7]
DMT is a functional analog and structural analog of other psychedelic tryptamines such as O-acetylpsilocin (4-AcO-DMT), psilocybin (4-PO-DMT), psilocin (4-HO-DMT), O-methylbufotenin (5-MeO-DMT), and bufotenin (5-HO-DMT). Parts of the structure of DMT occur within some important biomolecules like serotonin and melatonin, making them structural analogs of DMT.

I don't know if Love needs to leave if Rodgers comes back. I truly think 2023 will be AR's last year if he decides to continue playing (it is just a guess on my part) and Love should be ready to take over in 2024.Drj820 wrote: ↑09 Feb 2023 18:13I do not think Love will be in position to demand a starting job, unless he just goes somewhere that has NO other options…but he could go somewhere that he has a legit shot to compete for the starting job. I could see NY being interested in Jackson. He is much younger than Rodgers and Flacco. If Baltimore is looking to move on without Jackson they might be in the market for a vet QB like Rodgers. They have $26+ million in cap space. Unfortunately their first round pick is after ours so we may want to look elsewhere for a trading partner.

Love does not need to leave but he is not a Packer after this season unless the Packers exercise the 5th year option. But that 5th year option costs over $20 million dollars and the Packers simply don't have that much cap room this season. So Love is an UDFA after this season and can go wherever he wants.Pugger wrote: ↑11 Feb 2023 23:21I don't know if Love needs to leave if Rodgers comes back. Why would he want to stay in GB when the Packers have screwed him over so many times? He should have started at least 4 games this season when AR broke his hand. Instead AR played, looked terrible and the Packers lost. And then when the Packers only had to beat the Lions to make the playoffs, they let AR lose that game too.
Why would Love choose to sign with the Packers when there are at least 8 other teams in desperate need of a good QB and GB has screwed him over so many times? I suppose the Packers could pay $10 million a year more than any other team is offering but no one gets respect by bending over and it is hard to be a leader when you have no self respect. If Love wants to be a good QB, he can start by respecting himself and telling GB to take a hike.

Yeah we can afford his 5th year option next year.
The real issue is it's a lot of money for a QB who we don't know how good he is as a starter for a full season.
It makes no sense to exercise the option, so for all intents and purposes, this is Love's last year on the rookie deal.
Some people seem to think we can just tell Love to sit and wait one more year of Rodgers starting and then have Love get his shot. The word is that Love will ask for a trade if that happens. And that's exactly what he ought to do: this is effectively a contract year for him, so if he does not play, then he is missing out on a chance to get paid tens of millions of dollars (I shouldn't have to explain why "playing hardball" not only won't solve this problem but is actually a terrible idea, but I probably will have to).
We do not get to have our cake and eat it on this one. If we choose Rodgers, we are starting all over with our replacement plan. bud says just start a rookie. Good for him, I think that's a great way to put us on a path of the many years of losing seasons that yoop constantly warns us about (while wanting to do exactly what would lead to it).

Evidently MLF and company did not believe they had a better chance to win those games with Love instead of Rodgers, even with a broken thumb.
