Out of the DTs available I really do think Mike Daniels is the best one there. He got hurt last year but hes always had a terrific motor, he can rush the passer, and disrupt the run game. Dareus and Harrison cant rush the passer anymore and neither one really has the motor to be available throughout the game.
Worst take. Poo poo garbage. He's shot; can't play anymore. We released him for a reason.
We have a D that couldn't stop the run; two high-level run defenders are sitting on the market. Let Keke and Lowry and our edge guys slide inside to rush the passer. Gimme a cheap run plugger. That's what we're missing. Upgrade from Adams and Lancaster.
I like Dareus because he played for Pettine veggie; raved about him and his system. Said he's the first guy to give him freedom on the DL. Seems a good fit for that reason, and he just turned 30

Mike Daniels? Why not Gilbert Brown? Whats the difference? They are both done, history.
Yes, Lancaster needs to be the 4th or 5th Dlineman, not the 3rd. Keke is too small to be effective against the run.
I don't think lupedafiasco is crazy, here. I have thought about bringing Daniels back, a lot, too. We were right with everything so far, but I don't think he's done. If he got healthy over the offseason, he can still play. I'd like to add any one of the three. We need somebody, but I'm not willing to limit it to this type versus that type.
While we are at it, stop sniffing around Everson Griffin and bring back Clay Matthews for half the cost. Showed he can still rush the passer and who knows how effective he could be as the 3rd or 4th pass rushing option.

Agreed if the choice is between those two, 100% Clay on a small deal would be an asset to this defense.
I'm not sure how the money would work to bring in a ST and Clay, but I am confident that having both would vastly improve our defense in 2020 and at this point in the offseason no one is going to cost much.
As for Daniels, he wasn't as good against the run or pass in 2018, didn't play the full season. In 2019, he was injured and didn't play the whole season. He's a smaller guy who relied a lot more on his explosion--the kind of skill that erodes more quickly.
Gimme one of the two big run stuffers on the market any day of the week.
Obviously, my response to lupe was somewhat tongue-in-cheek mimicking some of his strong language. But I do think looking at Daniels is more about sentiment and nostalgia than his ability to fill a needed role for us right now
Daniels's game relied on having some quick, nimble athleticism to his game. Take that away, as I think the injuries have done, and he's basically a JAG. Guys whose game relies more on size and strength at DT age a lot better, so I would rather bring Snacks or Dareus aboard.

Man I'm on the other side of the fence with griffen and clay. Give me Griffen easy. The guy can still play. I would prefer snacks or dareus to help with the run but Griffen gives the d another wrinkle. It really could change us to an even front. Imagine the packages with all our pass rushers on the field.
His run d isnt bad either. With Gary and z both able to jump inside at times in not against the move.
I'd be okay with bringing back Clay, only if we planned on playing him inside.
It makes more sense to me to bring someone in for the Dline though, but I'm not sure if I'd want to look in Daniels direction. Griffen, maybe. If you're looking at EDGE, Clowney is still there too for whatever it's worth. Personally, I'd like to find some depth behind Clark. What's the story on Timmy Jernigan? At one point he was supposed to be a top prospect coming out of college.
Gutes first draft class desperately needs a player to step up. Otherwise it will not be far behind the 2015 draft class.
At least that draft he landed Alexander. You can’t do worse than the 2015 class where the majority of those players never even finished their rookie deals.

My money's on EQSB, but I'd settle for MVS or Jackson--but they have to play him on the outside; that's his position.
I'm done with Burks as a starter-type, but I don't mind him as a roster guy with ST and backup potential.
Also, say what you will about drafting specialists... our punter and long snapper came from that class.
Pretty disappointed to see Njimen and Bolton on the PUP; hope they're cleared before live practices start; both are promising young (longshot) players who need all the coaching and experience they can get to grow into contributors
