Oh my gosh if we get a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder to watch the New York Jets with Aaron Rodgers, Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Mercedes Lewis....

the only thing that would make this sweeter/funnier is seeing a $5 million Mason Crosby kicking their PATs.

Honestly, Lazard makes some sense there because their top WRs (assuming Cory Davis is gone) are both thin/small, twitchy guys, while Lazard can bring a big physical element as a #3 WR, which is always a better role for him. Cobb is a culture fit and role model if he's willing to play at the minimum and be WR6 on a young squad. Marcedes is another culture guy whose blocking is useful (and if you deny that, look at Josh Oliver getting a 3-year, $21 million deal to be a blocking TE, though that is the Vikings).

I totally understand if the Jets want to bring in some veteran role models who know the system and know how to work and practice to model behavior to their young guys. But everyone should be a very minimal role.

And then the Odell thing is... well, just not who you want your young receivers around. I dunno how he works or practices, but everywhere he's gone he ends up in conflict with his offense and QB over wanting a bigger target share. That's not the way to bring up young talented players like Moore and Wilson.

I guess my point is that for the right price, Rodgers' desires make a lot of locker room and offensive scheme sense as veteran role players and backups. The question is whether in a new environment Rodgers would be willing to do more to connect with the young guys instead of just relying on his buddies when he needs a completion and publicly throwing the younger guys under the bus for not knowing all of his adjustments right away.

This is corroboration of a report you denied (NYJ negotiating with Lazard), and this report itself is corroborated by another that NYJ is pursuing Marcedes Lewis.

What happens if they sign any of those guys, are you going to say it's fake news? And the player taking snaps is a body double? :rotf: What if Lazard signs elsewhere but confirms he negotiated with the Jets, will you call him a liar? Or are you being your usual short-sighted self? :rotf:

All this time you thought Rodgers was the victim of Gute saddling him with scrubs against his wishes. All this time I told you Rodgers loves scrubs and you were like "no no noooo he wants 2011 like meeeee!"

In reality he was the reason why guys like Geronimo, Kumerow, and Lazard played so much and the FO didn't bother adding more because they knew he wouldn't use them.

LOL YOOP!!

If this hadn't been explained to you multiple times over multiple years, I'd actually take the time to gather all the evidence of WR's open underneath, but by the time I come back with that evidence, your argument will probably change anyway, so I really don't want to waste my time on it.
I praise Rodgers for extending plays in hopes of completing deeper passes, and so have you, except when it doesn't work, I have said he should have taken the check downs, often I don't though because a half doz other members have already said it, and often the check downs are covered, that the price you pay at times.

last year was a different situation, the OL was not providing the blocking to extend plays, or even enough to wait for someone to get open underneath, we can sit here and nickle and dime this discussion, but the deep passing you saw last season was designed to force the defense to spread out more so that the short routes would open up.

and just for the record I don't come on this forum to convince anyone of anything, so if you don't agree with this simple explanation, then don't.
Wait a sec. Your argument a couple hours ago was that Rodgers was not throwing to open WR's underneath because this was part of MLF's scheme, then you said "what open WR's?", and now you're acknowledging that there were open WR's but you just didn't speak up because other people did?
It's true, just imagine that, your getting your nuts off twisting every word I say, I've tried to never be a part of group think in this forum, so when others (within seconds) say the exact same thing, why would I bother to mimic there opinion, and I never did say it was part of Lafleurs scheme, more twisty BS.

I've never been high on Lazard, but have said many times that he wins the contested catches, which is what ya want from a #3 receiver, and Cobb as a #6 guy wont keep better talent off the roster, as to Lewis I've always been a supporter, if ya want to play small ball then ya need what Lewis brings to the team.

what I wont buy into is that this deal hinges on Rodgers getting these players, I think thats mostly gossip and gives these writers something to sell.

If I were the Jets GM, I’d sign a few of these washed up players (not counting Lazard) and then cut them on the final day.

Did Yoop just admit his whole purpose here is to be a contrarian? Or did I read that wrong?

Yes. I heard he will not be on the show this week.

But who knows. That news was probably developed by some blog jocky who is looking for clickbait. :P

From a JetsNation Forum

“I like the idea of players letting Arod know too much of his shi+ won't be tolerated.

I mean if this is how it's starting... come preseason, maybe the oline lets a DE through untouched to teach Aaron how to behave.”

I will say most of the fans seem willing to tolerate some of Arod’s BS. They’re also saying Lazard would be an upgrade.

I've seen a lot of fans on "NFL Twitter" openly hoping for their team to sign Lazard. Ravens, Bears, and Jets being the most common ones I've seen.
