Tte Vikings and Packers are virtually identical in cap position
With one massive difference.
The Packers already have their QB of the future and he's been trained for 3 years in the system
The vikes don't even have the guy yet, let alone getting him ready. This was the challenge and the payoff in drafting Love before we needed him

The worst thing for the vikes in 2022 was winning a bunch of mirage games - killed their draft position
Will they tank this year ? Another 7-9 win season is counterproductive
How will Justin Jefferson handle his huge new deal not knowing who is throwing him passes ?
The packers do not know if they have their qb of the long term future. They know they have a qb for 2023.
I think the point is that the. pack is well ahead of the Vikes on their next QB, at least until Love proves otherwise.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

I mean that's true of like 90% of the QBs in their rookie contracts.

Two years ago the Jets had their QB of the future, but it turns out they didn't.

Two years ago, the Giants might not have had their QB of the future, but it turns out that they did.

Josh Allen looked mediocre after a year or two. Mac Jones looked like a steal during his rookie year.

Most teams aren't certain that they have their QB of the future and long term. Like ten teams know. We at least have a viable long-term option and a clear internal belief that he's got a good chance to be that guy for us.

We don’t know if we have a viable long term option. We know we have an option on the roster

Viable - capable of working successfully; feasible.

I think it is 100% accurate to say Love is a viable long term option.

Yes! Please do.
Nothing is certain. And we don’t know what things will be for sure in 2024 or even later in 2023. But we do have Love. And I truthfully don’t know who the Vikes have as their backup to Cousins.

The Texans using their cap space to stockpile tons of lower/mid-range free agents and make over their roster has been a really nice haul this early offseason. They might turn things around pretty quickly. No one really stands out, but Ward following Ryans from San Fran, a culture/effort guy like Winovich, a solid #2 WR in Woods, a cheap backup QB for their rookie starter... just nice work instead of big splashes.

TE Andrew Beck (2 years, $6.7M)
RB Mike Boone (2 years, $3.1M)
QB Case Keenum (2 years, $6.25M)
C Scott Quessenberry (1 year, $1.2M)
DT Hassan Ridgeway (1 year, $3.25M)
S M.J. Stewart (2 years, $6M)
S Jimmie Ward (2 years, $13M)
LS Jon Weeks (1 year, $1.1M)
Edge Chase Winovich (1 year, $1.75M)
WR Robert Woods (2 years, $15.25M)
WR Noah Brown (1 year, $2.5M)

Its wayyyy more than just an internal belief, if you pay attention to the credible outside QB whisperers and scouts - the reviews on Love are universally positive going into 2023. I don't know how to watch a QB personally , but I do know WHO to listen to when it comes to QB evals.

Really, the only ones pushing back are the lame-ass Packer fans who have been anti-Love since the day he was drafted.
Their opinions are both predictable and worthless.

Jordan Love is going to be a fantastic starting QB for the Packers. Mark it down.
Carve it in stone, paste it on your forehead, keep all these receipts.

I hope who you listened to is right, I really do, people here don't feel as though I support him, but I'am just trying to keep it real, the list is near endless of QB's like Love failing once the games mattered, my likes for Rodgers I think gives some the impression.

Grant does not get enough credit.
Came across this one today, its packers historian Cliff Christl talking about Bud Grant, the greatest high school player in WI history

Terry from Manhattan Beach, CA
Q: Did the best high-school athlete in Wisconsin history just pass at 95?

A: "Packers' nemesis or not, paying tribute to Bud Grant would certainly be an appropriate gesture here. As Vikings coach for 18 seasons, Grant was 23-11-1 against the Packers, starting with a split against Lombardi in 1967, and then usually by outcoaching Phil Bengtson, Dan Devine, Starr, and Forrest Gregg. A Superior, Wis., native, Grant was talented enough to play for both the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL and the Minneapolis Lakers in the NBA. And, yes, he'd get my vote for greatest high-school athlete in the history of Wisconsin.

In basketball, Grant played four years at Superior Central, from 1941-45, and started as a freshman on a state tournament team. Overall, he scored 897 points, when I believe the state record was 1,180. "He could do everything," Ron Blomberg, a former high school teammate who later coached the Milwaukee Bucks' minor league team and ran their summer basketball camps, told me in 2005 when I polled coaches and others to select an all-time Wisconsin high school basketball team. "He was such a great natural athlete. Bud had good height; inside, but go outside, too. He could shoot and he was strong. He was a star as a sophomore."

But what I find most impressive was that after Grant moved from end to fullback as a senior and led Central to a 7-1 record, he enlisted in the Navy and reported to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center outside Chicago. There, as an 18-year-old end, he played on the base football team coached by the legendary Paul Brown and alongside college and pro players. The star of the team was 25-year-old future Pro Football Hall of Fame fullback Marion Motley, and Great Lakes' schedule included a handful of Big Ten opponents. In fact, Great Lakes capped its season with a 39-7 victory over then fifth-ranked Notre Dame after scoring victories over Michigan State and Illinois in two of its three previous games."

"At age 16, Grant also was chosen to play in an American Legion All-Star baseball game in Chicago. A pitcher, Grant was once labeled, "The Hired Gun of Town Team Baseball," because of the money he made playing summer ball for, among others, Ridgeland, a community of about 200 located in northern Dunn County in Northwestern Wisconsin. Grant also doubled as an outfielder and was a three-sport star earning nine letters at the University of Minnesota in the late 1940s."

Man, what a life he created. His athletic ability was the foundation, but he made it so much more. :beer2:

Many Saturday hangovers for sure. Cheap green beer and Irish whiskey etc. "IRISH I HAD A SCHLITZ" was the battle cry back in the late 70s.

I once spent all afternoon and night on St Patrick's Day in downtown Boston. Ornery restaurant people there wanting to flip tables (versus provide great service and getting great tips). Did the local pub crawl and ended up finishing the evening outside at Cheers #2, What is the saying? Erin go Bragh?

Brandon Cooks traded to the Cowboys.

Makes a lot of sense. CeeDee and Gallop are good players but both lack that elite speed. Cooks provides something the team is missing. He also has a guaranteed $18M salary this year, tho, so interesting to see if the Texans are taking on some of that.
