The Green Bay Packers announced the signing of former San Francisco 49ers safety Tarvarius Moore on Friday, March 17th.

Moore, a third-round pick of the 49ers in the 2018 draft, is entering his sixth NFL season in 2023. He has played in 61 career games (13 starts).

Packers D as it was at the end of the 2022 season only gave up 20 points vs. the Lions on January, 8, 2023. Packers were favored by 5 points. It was a balmy 21 F with almost no wind. Rodgers threw for 205 yards. Packers collectively rushed for over 100 yards that day.

It seems unlikely now that the Packers will resign Amos. IMO he is the best of the lot but he is not young and will cost more than Ford or this new FA. It is going to be a tough year if Savage has another year like last season. Of course there will be a draft pick too, maybe a 1st day pick.

Ford has real potential hope he keeps improving.

I wouldn't say that. I think there were only two people who said Amos was good. DrJ was one of them. I brought up Andy Herman videos showing Amos's grades (which were the lowest of his career and some of the lowest on the defense)...it was just rubbed off since he is a "blogger"

I will say though Amos did have a nice stretch in December. But by and large he definitely took a step back. I never expected Amos to be in the 2023 plans.

That said you can’t bring him back at his age and with the way the cap currently is. At some point you need to start a two year plan. The first year needs to correct the cap. The second year you can begin to contend again. I’ve been saying that for 4 years.

And, additionally for completeness, other first year steps include: a) J-E-T-tisonning Mr. Divisiveness out of the North, b) firing inept Packers front office personnel and coaching staff as necessary, c) buy some more land adjacent to Lambeau Field to build a parking lot to replace the lost parking lot square footage that ensued through all of the Lambeau construction activities (and find something useful to do with the parking lot on non-game days), d) tend to the rusting infrastructures now occurring in and outside Lambeau on Packers property -AND- returning the black tent if no longer needed on the Packers sideline or else just put it up for auction for tailgaters to use on an as needed basis.

Not sure what to do with the national media right now, as they seem awfully useless lately. Oh, still waiting for a Reggie White-type blockbuster free agent acquisition on the part of the Packers .............. or even other surely impactful moves as we saw in the Ron Wolf era concerning Santana Dotson, Sean Jones, Eugene Robinson, Andre Risen, Desmond Howard, Don Beebe, Keith Jackson, Bruce Wilkerson. And even during TT's tenure picking up Ryan Pickett, Howard Green, Cullen Jenkins and Charles Woodson. What the hell is going on out there?!

And playing Rasul Douglas at Safety is one of the considerations on the table per Gute.

6'3, 230 and ran a 4.47 . He has a year in the NFL under his belt, hoping he can make the leap.

I defended Amos and still defend Amos. Don’t care what blogger Andy says. The guy thinks packer fans are upset we didn’t bring back Dean Lowry!

Amos had been rock solid, this past year the DC had him in bad spots and he was left alone a lot. He will have a good year next year for whoever he signs with.

Me sticking up for Amos does not mean I think we should bring him back. Talk of his demise is overrated though.

Just gonna put it out there; I know we're doing the speed thing at S. But I want Taylor Rapp badly. He plays in the same system, is assignment sound and physical, and has good ball production. He's a non-elite athlete and sort of a solid starter type, so his market hasn't developed. I think he took one visit to the Bills before they re-signed Poyer. But he's exactly what we need in regards to "replacing Amos." And he shouldn't cost much.

2022 team: Los Angeles Rams | Age entering 2023 season: 25

Rapp is an urgent safety with positional versatility and on-the-ball production. He should draw interest from clubs that can deploy him in multiple sub-package roles. Rapp can play in the post or split-field, or he can align as an overhang defender in dime. There's disruptive ability here. He produced nine interceptions and 24 pass breakups in his four seasons with the Rams.
