From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Tonyan signed for one year 2.65m and only 1.25m guaranteed. I’m a little surprised we didn’t bring him back at that price just due to our desperation at the position. Man he had no market!
Robert Tonya is a JAG. The only hope would be one season removed he is faster but it was pretty apparent he lost a step. Just no separation or run after the catch ability.
He would just take snaps from another no namer but at least you get the mystery box of success with the other no namer.
Who amongst us is mad at Gute for not keeping these dopes? Lol
no kidding, I don't get that comment, no one see's any of the 3 as more then marginal talent, and all 3 are players a GM try's to improve upon, I don't know who Herman is listening to that are complaining, it's sure not anyone here, Lazard got 11 mil. because he was our most consistent WR last year, that says more about the GB Packers then it does Allen Lazard.
Guys, Herman's football fan exposure is primarily twitter and YouTube comments, not dedicated fan boards of mostly knowledgeable people. His experience is gonna be wider-ranging than ours, and probably dumber.

Lazard got $11MM because he is an average WR2 veteran which is the going rate for an average WR2 veteran.

the defense of Packer WR's that don't receive 2nd contracts is mind boggling, Lazard never was a #2 receiver an d never will be considered one any where he plays ever again, 11 mil is what #3 receivers will get in FA this season and in the future, he had his best season last year, yes he improved, but his target and receptions increased because the rest of the group either sucked, where hurt or lacked experience.

There are 33 WRs in the NFL that make $10MM or more per season. I assure $11 Million contracts are not what "#3 WRs will get this FA season and in the future"
At that price, teams are simply drafting WRs to be 3rd on the depth chart.

Lazard got 11m from the Jets to help recruit Rodgers. Make him happy. No Rodgers, and no way in heck he ends up a Jet at that rate. They simply don’t even need him. And he is absolutely at best their WR3. Garret Wilson and Elijah Moore are actually wide recievers, not run blockers

Right. He doesn't end up a Jet. But he does end up elsewhere similar to that rate. The Jets don't sign him for $11MM unless there are other teams they had to compete against to lure him at that price.

This isn't mind blowing stuff here.
Actually you don’t know that. The Jets had to sign him at a rate that he would say Yes to the offer immediately. They needed Lazard to say yes, so they could then show 12 they were serious about honoring his wishes. So they had to not only offer MORE than others, it had to be so much more that Lazard would stop desiring to listen or visit other offers.
Then here are a lot of things that I don't actually know.
Thanks for your meaningful contribution to the debate. I was specifically countering that he didn’t know that Lazard would get a similar rate elsewhere.

Lazard is a hybrid WR/TE, he has a fit in a scheme that does a lot of play action, perfect fit with what Hackett will bring to there offense, we may have brought him back right here cept we don't have 11 mil to spend on a player like that right now.
some teams pay to make sure they have 4 or 5 dependable receivers, Packers don't
He was WR2 in GB before Adams left and it was made obvious we needed a real WR2 over and over again.
Like Yoop said, some people will pay to have more than one or two able bodied receivers, in fact, that’s what good teams do!
It's what Teddy T did here his first 9 years as GM, one of Ron Wolfs comments after leaving, I should have brought in a few better receivers for Favre, Ted took heed to that, well till 2014 anyway, then the defense wins championship mantra took over
Saw an article on MSM that the Titans and Vikes are putting out feelers for Lamar Jackson.
The Vikings in that is laughably silly. There is no possible way they would take on Jackson with Cousins and his contract on the roster.
