From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
and on that throw to Watson his route got close to the hash mark before tailing out.
What's the route got to do with where Rodgers threw it? Routes take players all over the field. We're talking about where Rodgers throws, and avoids throwing, not where the player lined up or ran his route.
does it matter where the catch point is? I admit that was a outside the hashes go route with Watson, but if a route is close to the hashes as many are it is still a over the middle pass and catch, and as that article I brought shows, Rodgers throws over the middle about 38% or more.
to me it's just another nit picky smear on Rodgers, give him receiver talent and scheme and he'll throw the ball any where.
The pass to Watson in no way can be considered the middle of the field. Not in any sense of the word.
As for Rodgers, this is from the article:
I found 67 QBs who have attempted at least 100 non-RPOs passes past the LOS since the start of 2019. Of those 67 QBs, Aaron Rodgers was 65th at targeting the middle of the field.
Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."
I like that Rodgers is the best in the league throwing over the middle even though he does it less then other QB's, and I'd expect the % increase with better TE's and receivers, I also like that he has the lowest interception numbers of any active QB in the league.
I hope Love has the same tendency's as Rodgers when it comes to protecting the ball, I'd rather a sack then a pick.
The picture of the catch point clearly shows he was 1-2 yards outside the bottom of the numbers which are only 7 yards from the sideline.
really splitting hairs here, Watsons route started inside the numbers with the catch point just outside, it still was not a sideline pass.
plus we do so many behind the LOS passing it subtracts from the % of over the middle passing, Rodgers is adverse to throwing into crowds because mistakes increase, why people fail to accept that, specially after Cobbs play declined and all we've had mostly are jags with very little chemistry with Rodgers boggles the mind, it's why we used Adams so often in the slot.
I expect average Joe blow fans to not understand this stuff, but everyone here should
everything not on the boundary is somewhere in the middle, all that talk about he doesn't throw over the middle is hog wash.
First of all, so ridiculous you bring your pet topic into this thread and hijack another thread. Even more ridiculous you try to classify that as over the middle. Just no words sometimes.
That's Larry McCarron, sure, and #12 looks to be Lynn Dickey (Hadl was balding, no brown frock hanging out the back of his helmet), but I can't figure out for the life of me who that back is. Pretty sure Dickey didn't overlap with John Brockington, although RB in the pic looks like him, and the next #42 that comes to mind is Gary Ellerson, but he didn't join the team until the mid-80's, I believe, after McCarron had retired.

Who is that back? Or is that not Lynn Dickey?
Looks like John Hadl to me. He wore both #21 and #12. Look at his hair and facemask in this photo:

Dicky played 9 seasons for us, the first two with Brockington when Brock rarely played.
I agree It was Hadl, Brock, and McCarron, good trivia, I forgot how long Dicky was our starting QB, losing and living near Chicago does that I guess, and to bad he lost a season and a half to injury, also would have liked a 60's era Hadl versus the spent up balding QB we got.

I think you’re right. That’s gotta be Hadl and, in turn, Brockington lined up behind him.
Yoop was right, Dickey and Brockington did overlap. Only problem is seasons 1976-77 and then again in 1979 (Dickey was injured entire 1978 season) he wore the #10. He didn’t switch to #12 until 1980, well after Brockington was gone so that definitely isn’t Dickey in the photo.
