@Yoop I didn't say Fitzpatrick did any of those things...

What am I condoning?
I already answered that question, obviously you support what Minka did, I don't

You didn't answer the question. How did they tackle in your day since you hate tackling below the waist?

I never once said or implied I supported how Fitzpatrick to tackled, but it certainly isn't cheap.

Is it possible for you to have a linear conversation for once instead of throwing tangents into it when realize what you said isn't correct? FYI that incorrect claim was that tackling below the waist isn't how it used to be.

I have, you refuse to accept that Minka is not looking at the thighs, and his intent all along was to not wrap up, rather to drive his shoulder through the knee of Chubb, cheap may be to strong a word, and if Chubbs foot wasn't trapped, who knows.

and how did you ever get to thinking I refuse to tackle below the waist, my whole point is I hate the spear shots with shoulder hits without the following wrap with the arms any time, we see missed tackles like that to often.

I never once said that Fitzpatrick executed a textbook tackle, never once. You didn't follow the conversation, but instead went on a tangent assigning opinions that were never held.

How did I ever think you didn't tackle below the waist? Well, you said you hated tackles below the waist hitting with the shoulders. You said a tackle through the legs is not how it used to be. That's how.

What Fitzpatrick did was take out the legs of the runner. It wasn't a good tackle, but in my opinion there is nothing dishonest or cheap or morally wrong about it. DBs ARE going to tackle through the legs, they should.

Ok, that’ll do Yoop Pckfn23

Take any further clarification debate to PMs. You appear to have reached a stalemate here.

Sucks that it happened but it’s football. Injuries are gonna happen. The game was better when defenders were looking hit hard. Let’s not try and stop them from going low too.

Unfortunate, but it is going to occasionally happen no matter what rules you put in. The old time tackling was put your facemask on the body, wrap up, and keep driving. If your helmet comes out the other side of his chest so much the better. If you can only get a leg... grab, hold on, and roll like you're on fire.

I've been saying forever in light of all the different tackling rules and don't here, but hit there, but not below here if you're behind there and can't hang off the back if you grab here and helmets can only contact xy, but not z etc.

Any tackle that is head up and arms out, legal. Any that has head down and arms pulled in tight, not legal. Let's play ball.

It looks clear to me that Fitzpatrick broke toward the line of scrimmage, saw Chubb approaching and realized he was at a bad angle, and tried to cut toward the ball carrier and his forward momentum meant that to make the tackle he has to dive.

Not only is it an unfortunate football play, but i saw no signs of ill intent.

Not dirty to me.

I think multiple guys going for the ball carrier, unfortunate that they all hit the way they did, when they did. But I don't see them acting in concert to try to hit him high/low.

intent or no intent.

it's taken the place of form tackling, all we see now is shoulder shots to the legs, with no intent to wrap up, it's no different then spearing, and Minka made no attempt to use his arms or hands, I'am not saying Minka attempted to hurt Chubb, simply that the league has become complacent when it comes to these type tackles, which to me has now taken over the league.

Fitzpatrick is 6'1" - 207. That is pretty big for a DB, actually. Nick Chubb is 5'11" - 227. Do you want to try and form tackle that? Also looked like Chubb was on the verge of splitting the defense and had pretty much ran through the LB's attempted tackle. These injuries happen when you take a violent hit and are engaged with another player.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I guess what I am getting at is, its not illegal, so why should I have a problem with that? If they want this play out of football, then change the tackling rules, but we are really moving closer and closer to flag football as it is.

Also, in no way was that spearing, which is illegal.

Yoho's remark I think explained this well, Minka had poor leverage initially, and had to lunge quartering to Chubb's knee, never really had time to raise his arms to wrap up, legal yes, ugly, yes.

I know these type hits are legal, also don't think the league can eliminate them, I just hate the hits to the knees, I hate these types of tackles, leading with the head and shoulders though is almost impossible not to do, I'd just rather see the arms up as well to boot.

really the only difference I see between these hits and spearing is one uses the helmet and this is with the shoulder pad.

I agree, we don't want to play two handed touch either :|
