Man Watson had a TD if he didn't cut back left in the RZ. If Watson just continues his original angle he would have outran #24 and there was no way #5 was catching him.

Damn

Yep, I thought the same thing when I watched the broadcast replay. He had the end zone if he'd only kept to his line.

Watson isn’t ready. He is missing a lot of nuance to his game and on top of that he isn’t catching the tough ones to be a true #1.
Currently, Watson is a bum. Not aggressive. Always hurt. Drops. Bad routes. And he can't even run fast anymore due to the injuries. People need to stop pretending he is a #1. He isn't and might never be.
I've seen this mentioned a few times.

I believe folks here refer to Watson as our WR1 as a simple ranking. I know I do. I don't think there's a more explosive or impactful WR on the roster so it seems reasonable.

That's not to say Watson is a WR1 in the context of elite NFL receivers like Davante Adams, though. He's not. Not even close.

It's semantics, sure, but it's like you guys are arguing a point nobody is really making.

Watson isn’t ready. He is missing a lot of nuance to his game and on top of that he isn’t catching the tough ones to be a true #1. He got a chance in this one down the field on a difficult catch but he needed to bring it in and instead it hit him in the hands and fell to the ground.

On the final play it was an absolutely dog &%$@ late and underthrown ball but he needed to fight harder as a 6’5 player. He did get pushed a bit, legally might I add, because Love was outside the pocket. He’s gotta fight back.
Watson missing practices and games because of injury is hampering his development.

easy to see the line Watson took down the seam won him inside leverage, why would angling to the sideline help? that doesn't make any sense to me, if Love throws it more towards center or to the right he is leading Watson open.

Watson was the most explosive receiver for a stretch last year, and healthy all season and he and Rodgers hook up for well over a K, of course he's our #1 receiver.

some of the comments are so perplexing, it's like you people just disagree to argue.

I actually kinda had Doubs as WR1 and Watson as WR2 in my head, because Doubs is the more well-rounded receiver and runs a more complete route tree, whereas Watson comparatively is more one-dimensional.

That said, I do think Watson ultimately is the more valuable player because playmaking ability is ultimately what reigns supreme for skill players, and he is far ahead of anyone else in the WR room there.

so much more athletic, I think Reed will eventually become #1A, he to is more athletic then Doubs, and agree right now both run better routes then Watson, but Watson has the wheels, and the routes can be taught and refined, Watson imo will improve on that.

this is the kind of group that can really prosper with a good QB, add in Wicks and these TE's, Jones, draft some OL improvements, and this offense could be as good as any in the league

Convo on the radio today 107.5 out of GB) ranking NFC teams. Lots of discussion (to fill time) but end result was that they are 8-12 in NFC. Only Carolina, NYG, Bears, and AZ for sure worse. He had Packers in with Atl, TB, Wash, Queens type tier.

I think the current team is listless. Bad coaching. Injuries. Mental mistakes. And frankly less talent than expected. I would put them below NYG and Chi, and if trends hold with (and possibly below) AZ and Car.

Right now with what we have seen in the past few weeks this team is arguably the worst in the division. They are in such a downward trajectory I can’t say anyone would be crazy putting the Bears or Vikings ahead of us. The Vikings have been competitive and on the wrong side of some crazy bad luck. The Bears are on an upward trajectory. The Lions are head, shoulders, waist, and bitten knee caps better than us.

This team needs to do some serious soul searching in the bye and figure out what they need to be. That starts with LaFleur. For worse or for even worser Gutenbumst is our GM. No one is coming in here to save us. LaFleur needs to figure out ways to win. Honestly I don’t think they emphasized physicality in the off-season which is what we need.

It now makes sense hearing how our players were crying the Pats were being to physical with us one day and they came in a smacked us around the next. This team needs to be enforcers on defense and just play for the run game and shot plays on offense.

Doubs has been really disappointing to me this year. For long stretches it’s like he’s not in the game at all, then he will catch a first down, drop a pass, then make another catch…then he will return to not being involved.

This is another year where our receivers would be WR3 at best on most good teams.

Yet some want to write or the qb

I am starting to question the receivers some too. I think the WR3 statement is a bit exaggerated but I get what your saying. In the past it used to take almost all WRs 3 years to really come into their own/become good. Not quite as true anymore, but the passing game is easier now. With that thought, we are still very young at that position.

I was surprised Doubs wasn't targeted more often vs. the Raiders. He actually put up decent numbers in the two games leading up to this one.

While the Packers played a terrible game vs. the Raiders I still consider them better than all of the teams you listed.

Watson has something you can't teach: speed. He just needs to stay healthy and on the field both at practice and games so he can learn how to be an NFL WR.

I'm not worried about the WRs. They are young but show a lot of promise. There were folks back in the day who wanted to run Adams out of town on a rail. I think the more they play the better they will get.

I'm afraid this is the season where we take our lumps while these kids learn on the fly, especially on offense.

I keep seeing this young group of pass catchers as having more potential than we’ve had here for a while. But everyone has to take their lumps as they grow and they’re no different.

Doesn't have speed anymore, not elite anyway like he used to. Because he can't stay healthy.

I’m sure I’ve ever seen anyone have a stranger, seemingly unjustifiable, bias against a player before. It’s about 50% your posts in the non political forum. I just don’t get it. Why the vendetta?

I said August 2022 he was injury prone. Was told it takes time, he will be back, minor setback, etc. Has 4 good games, then is hurt again for months this year. Comes back and is caught from behind, because he can't run fast with a bad hamstring. He was always a bad route runner. Now he can't run fast, and apparently being 6'4" doesn't mean anything when it comes to contested balls. Just an opinion based on reality. I am tired of everyone (not just this forum, the likes of Kurt Warner and radio guys do it, too) acting like he is the best thing since sliced bread.

I think it was Wahle who said he would ask the coaches different questions from what he would ask players. This group of receivers doesn’t have a veteran to go to when they need a question answered they think might make them look dumb.

Gutenbumst severed a long like a talented receivers that passed down tricks of the trade from Sharpe to Brooks to Freeman to Driver to Jennings to Jordy to Adams.

He had no plan if Adams wanted out because he drafted some absolutely dog &%$@ receivers or neglected the position most years.
