2024 Draft QB Prospects

Post by Drj820 »

i believe there are at least 7 QBs in the 2024 draft who will have first round grades. Whether all 7 pan out..well thats another debate. But this draft is loaded with "prospects".

I also believe the Packers will be in position to draft one of the seven. In my opinion, coming off a bye and losing to denver is a sign that this team will be drafting in the top ten. I mean we also lost to the Raiders. It just doesnt get any easier from here.

That said, where do you think we will draft? Would you be willing to move up if we are in striking distance of an elite prospect?

I think we should draft a QB no matter what. We can either trade the asset if Love becomes awesome, or we have our back up plan in the building. Here is a list of 10 QB prospects I think will be talked about as we approach the draft.

Quinn Ewers-Tex

Spencer Rattler-SC

Cameron Ward-WSU

Jayden Daniels-LSU

Shadeur Sanders-CU

Bo Nix-Ore

JJ McCarthy-UM

Michael Penix Jr-UW

Caleb Williams-USC

Drake Maye-UNC

I like Maye, have since last year. Kid has moxy. He can make all the throws. Mobile. Doesn't seem to have a huge head like Williams. That said, I think Clifford can be something if given the chance, but highly doubt this coaching staff gives him a chance because they are tied to Love.

Clifford does have a little brock purdy in him it seems. Not sure if we have the offensive guru or system or personell to make a guy like purdy or clifford work in GB. We may just have too much for them to overcome.

Definitely sucks we aren't getting the Jets first, but having two 2nd's will still be nice for some ammo to trade up a little without having to be crazy like Carolina.

We should also be getting a 4th round comp pick from Lazard, probably 2 6ths (Lowry and Reed) and maybe a 7th for Tonyan.

So potentially 12 picks, 6 in the top 4 rounds.

Caleb Williams would actually be pretty from the standpoint that he wants some ownership in the team. I'd be completely in favor of issuing another stock sale that only he has exclusive rights to buy into.

I think Jayden Daniels is a guy who I believe will be really good that may be in range for us based on our own bad record + maybe some ammo to move up a couple spots.

No hate for Sean Clipboard, but he is more of a Jeff Garcia type of a QB. I liked Jeff Garcia, and you can be a playoff team with him as your QB, but not if you ask him to be 'the guy' on offense. You put him an offense with TO (and that's The Guy). You put him on an offense like CLE like when Garcia left SF, it results in disaster. And we are more like past CLE teams than Garcia's 9er teams.

I think what this team needs more than an elite QB is a bona fide WR1. Marvin Harrison Jr. is probably just out of reach for us, but for once we are nicely positioned to get one of the other top WR prospects (we picked high this year but the WR class at the top wasn't great).

Go WR or OL, make the supporting cast on O good. If we do have to move on from Love, the next QB walks into a good situation.

the issue i have is that Love SHOULD have walked into a good situation based on the preparing we did for him. We drafted people who would be ready by now (allegedly). It is a shame every thing around him is chaotic, which makes it harder to get a true read on him.

good one, :aok: I think thats a great plan, IF, and I really mean if Jordan doesn't improve.

this OL has to improve or it doesn't matter who the QB is, once the rush gets in a QB's head the only way to fix it is with better protection.

It looks like we counted on them too much. The good news is, WR is a position where a marquee guy in the draft can step in and be #1, and if we stay as bad as we have been, we will for once have a shot at the marquee prospects.

Yet (at risk of making the same mistake as with Doubs/Watson) keep an eye on this Wicks guy. I see some Adams in him.

nothing wrong with these receivers, lots of rookies and young players deal with injury at the start of there careers, half this forum thought Adams was a bust year 2.

and just look at some of these routes Vrable has them running, the biggest problem is Love hasn't been able to build any chemistry because this crap OL rarely gives him time to, or has been anything close to consistent for 4 games.

The problem with the receivers is that (most) of them appear to be NFL caliber receivers, but no one appears to be a WR1, or possibly even a WR2. This creates a scenario where the defense has no one to fear and they dont have to spend extra resources or time worrying about anyone on the field. These receivers need someone to draw attention away from them to succeed. There is no one on the field who does that in the offense, especially when Jones the RB is out.

The one who really needs to step up is Watson. So far he is injury prone and he has no route tree but a GO route. He is brittle MVS, and this is not what we were hoping we would be getting

I don't think they are busts, I just question if there is a bona fide WR1 among them, a guy who can produce week-in and week-out like Adams. Watson has durability issues and was raw coming out of NDSU. I am not quite sure what Doubs lacks, but he seems to be missing something. Reed is good but he is a slot guy more than anything.

Wicks oddly enough might end up being the best of the bunch when he gets it together, but he is probably quite a ways away from that, and are you really going to pass up the top WRs in the draft on the faith of a fifth-rounder and/or oft-injured Watson?

Caleb or Maye.

There is every chance at the moment we could have pick 1,2 or 3.

we saw last season that Watson does have a few routes that he runs pretty good, we saw Doubs run seams, curls. crossers and go routes, Reed can run any route in the tree, possibly Wicks to.

again it is impossible to fairly grade anyone when everything is going bad, you guys are letting all this disfunction over shadow your judgement :idn:

Who would have imagined that I would be arguing in favor of drafting a WR high against yoop? :P

I don't think it's a must, but I am at the point where I am willing to add WR to the list of draft day targets *if* we can draft a turn-key WR1. So draft one Top 10 (if we do indeed finish there), or just stick with the present group of guys.

All I know is Marv Jr. sounds incredibly useful right now.

We can barely complete a quick slant for gods sake. Thats all QB and WR's in my book.

Just my simple opinion but with this current team, Rodgers or Favre would have hung 30 on the broncos yesterday IN THEIR SLEEP.

IF these recievers can run routes, why does it look so FCUKED up, half the time. Who is to blame?. I am going MLF.

MY eye test tells me Doubs has a better chance than Watson to be really good. To me, Watson is flawed.

Yeah we have a combination of bad receivers and a bad qb.

Watson is a mix between MVS and Jeff Janis.

Which horrible teams wouldn’t take QB’s?

Looking at Bears x2, Broncos, Raiders, Patriots, Giants, Cardinals, Vikings, Falcons, Titans, Commanders

Broncos and Giants really can’t move off their current QBs for like two more years, so drafting a clear backup.

Other than that. I would imagine every one of those teams would take Maye or Williams if they are in range in the top 3.

Giants and Broncos just won so hopefully they keep winning and continue to get worse and worse picks. But if they end up with good picks and there is a top QB prospect in range, I could absolutely see them selecting a QB and then just figure out the cap issues later with their current QB. I mean, teams dont get a chance to draft a potential franchise qb often.
