Week 9 Other Games
Got a chance to watch some games today.
Miami-KC: Miami reminds me of the 2011-2021 Packers. They have some weapons to put some points on the board but if you punch them in the mouth, they’ll fold more times than not. KC isn’t the juggernaut they’ve been but they’re still pretty damn good. Better on defense than I expected coming into the year.
Dallas-Philly: really good game. Philly is just so well rounded, they are gonna be tough to beat. They can beat you on offense, defense, or ST on any given night and their HC has got the balls to exploit the advantages his team holds. Dallas still gonna Dallas. I won’t get on board their hype train until they actually beat somebody good and do it consistently.
Buffalo-Cincy: looking forward to watching this game. I think Cincy is rounding into their own and may be the best in the AFC. Buffalo has the skill talent but kill themselves too many times.

I just saw the worst "intentional grounding" call ever!!! OMG they are wrecking football. Bill/Bengals game just before half, Josh Allen threw what would have been probably close to a perfect pass up the left sideline on like a go route and Gabe Davis cut his route off after Josh Allen had let the ball go. WTF. I could care less about the Bills or Bengals but come on. What a joke. If thats the letter of the law, they need to change it. There was nothing "Intentional" about it.
Yeah, saw it too. Officiating has just gotten so ridiculously dumb. The offside calls on the Packers today that negated two successful 4th down plays. The weekly roughing the QB calls. That intentional grounding call. Just ridiculous.
This hit was penalized today as roughing the passer

If you get the chance, watch the Vikings-Falcons game. Dobbs comes in, hasn't taken a snap all week, has only thrown to WRs in the pre-game warm-up, doesn't know the plays and just kills it. Well after a few mistakes in the beginning. The coach was actually explaining the plays in the headset.

I didn't see much of the game, just the comeback drive. Not a viking fan, but pretty cool to see someone come in and spark like that.Raptorman wrote: ↑06 Nov 2023 10:50If you get the chance, watch the Vikings-Falcons game. Same. Saw some highlights and twitter clips. Impressive showing from the new guy.musclestang wrote: ↑06 Nov 2023 11:12I didn't see much of the game, just the comeback drive. Glad he got the win for them. Hope he gets them 3-4 more on the season, just missing the playoffs but out of top 10 draft pick.
We shall see. They are currently the 7th seed.APB wrote: ↑06 Nov 2023 13:51Same. Saw some highlights and twitter clips. Nice 7-seed you got there. 'Would be a shame if something happened to it (last time I said this when you told us that MIN had the lowest seed, they went onto miss the playoffs ) ...

I already expect them to miss the playoffs. So there's not much lost there for me if they don't make it.
More BS rulings from the NFL/referees. Chris Simms makes a good point here:
You on board the Dobbs train like your skol brethren, Raptorman?Raptorman wrote: ↑06 Nov 2023 10:50If you get the chance, watch the Vikings-Falcons game. I’d like to see another angle. As I’ve always understood it, it’s not a catch until you survive going to the ground as they say. Looks like to me there’s a little bobble when he rolls over, and if not on the ground, to me, possession wouldn’t be secured until then, and he’s in the endzone. So…
But they seemingly can do whatever they want with rules and definitions these days to basically do or say what they want so what does it all matter? Just keep the betting lines and games in check. It’s a whole new revenue stream for the nfl and easy to manipulate with 1 guy on the field.
I guess the powers that be never paid attention to boxing…
It isn't often, but in this instance I agree with Florio.
because once the knee is down, nothing after that matters, once the catch is made the ball should be spotted where the knee hit, so in my interpretation of that rule he was short of the EZ

I don’t have a problem with the ‘loophole’.
If you begin the process of the catch and you are ‘down’, knee down’, etc. ball goes back to there. Don’t think it’s complicated.
Just a Shroedinger’s cat moment where we don’t yet know it’s a catch or not. It’s both a catch and not a catch until the result is observed.
Downside to it not being a catch until the ‘catch is established’, every sideline toe drag catch will now be incomplete if we need to wait for the wr to maintain possession through the ground.

They do have to maintain it through the ground, or it wouldn’t be a catch at all. If they tap their toes, bobble it and regain it out of bounds, it is not a catch.BF004 wrote: ↑07 Nov 2023 07:50I don’t have a problem with the ‘loophole’.

If they are going to the ground and lose control on the ground but regain it without ball hitting ground it is also not a catch because they are OB.
If you are in play and don’t complete a catch but do further up or down field, the ball is spotted where you completed the catch.
Now I’m not saying that’s what happened in this one, but if he didn’t lose control at all, I’m fine with the ball being spotted where it was. But if he bobbled at all, it should have been a TD because the process of the catch was not completed intil he was in the endzone.
