LaFleur himself said it was a bad call. If it has worked sure. We are happy enough. But it did t and for multiple reasons. They ran it too much and they also did it on a 2pt conversion where anyone who would normally be way off the LOS was up on it. It was a dumb call.Yoop wrote: ↑14 Dec 2023 20:36If it had worked you'd be saying, well thats one way to defeat Dexter Lawrence since we don't have anyone that can block him. he just went to that well to many times, just maybe if he had another jetster it wouldn't be so obvious, he's used Reed to do it almost exclusively because Jones, Watson, other been hurt, if ya can't practice it then likely ya wont see it in games.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑13 Dec 2023 12:45It still amazes me Lafleur thought the best way to score was to go 8 yards horizontally instead of 2 yards vertically.
when ya consider how inconsistent the blocking is, all the key players injured, then imo Lafleur has done a pretty good job.

It's a condensed field at the 2 yd line. Everybody is at the LOS. By natural defensive alignment, the Packers wouldn't have enough blockers at the point of attack to succeed. They were counting on the Giants to make a mistake or for Reed to make something happen. It didn't.
I don't know how you don't go to a play that schemes a distinct advantage in that situation. Instead, MLF calls a play they had already run multiple times, the Giants had adjusted for, and it's basically manno-on-manno, hope your guys beat their guys.
I guess MLF figured the Giants would take Joe Barry's approach with defending DeVito and the zone read that saw success all friggin' night.
