Media getting after it

Delay tactic. Means he's still both clueless and inept.
I don't have a problem with those answers. What good is throwing Barry under the bus to the media? Let's wait and see what Matt DOES and not what he says.
Exactly. Not the time or place to address Barry. Besides he has plenty of other things to worry about also. With that being said, hopefully this defense performance seals Barrys fate. I think everyone is ready for change. I cant think of any reason not to make a change sooner rather than later.

I'm to the point where our pretty boy coach makes a hard call and cuts the head of the snake. Hold a standard. This d which is Joe barrys baby has been &%$@ the bed. This was a playoff type game and back to back weeks they were epically bad. Screw the tape. Fire him and show your the damn boss.

I really dislike "Mattys" softness

If we could have excuses for our team, they lie mostly on offense. That's where the majority of our youth and injuries are. So, where does that leave the defense?

Something must change and change NOW.
1. These last two games were supposed to indicate that this team and defense were charging toward the playoffs. Instead, they play like they have shoes falling apart.
2. Barry has had more than a generous amount of time to prove that he can make this defense hum. It is currently a bottom third of the league D, as far as being able to stop other teams at crunch time.
3. They will not change scheme. Sorry YoHo. If they would, it would've been done by now.
If I'm Guty, I'm talking to MLF tonight and telling him to make the change at DC now. If MLF doesn't do it, then he would be gone by next week too.
4. I should also add that the previous two seasons, Barry's defense got knocked around pretty good at the start of the season but played generally well the second half of each season. This year? Nope!

Not to be nit-picky, but isn't giving everything you had equal to winning? Lombardi would be the first to say that you won't win every game. The idea was always to spend yourself in the pursuit of excellence. Excellence starts with the goal of perfection, as unattainable as it is. That's the idea.

Sometimes you do and still don't win.

I was watching the game with 2 of my cousins who don't know much about the Packers. They're asking me how our defense can suck so bad with all the draft picks on that side of the ball.

I told them about our DCs great record in his other 2 stints as a DC and they laughed. Said it's like hiring an CFO for your business who bankrupted two prior companies.

So either Gutey and our scouts have no clue how to draft defensive players or the coaching sucks. Fastest way to find out is to change coaches.

If Lafleur is ever tempted to blame Barry for anything related to the defense, he should first run to the bathroom, stand at the sink, and blame the guy first that he sees in the mirror

First visiting QB to ever have a perfect QB rating at Lambeau.

MLF has said on multiple occasions that this is the scheme he wants.

Unfortunately, it may not be the best version of the scheme he wants. I think what MLF wants is a scheme that limits big plays and limits possessions by forcing long drives. I think what MLF does not want is a version of a scheme that literally does not contest underneath passes. I'm sure he also would like to see some more variation. He has said multiple times, as well, that he would like the defense to be more aggressive.

That's why I think Staley and/or Evo are real possibilities as replacements next year even though things have not gone great for them this year. Barry was the guy closest to the scheme MLF wanted. But he has failed at it. And he has absolutely refused to adjust as the league has completely, and easily figured out how to succeed against this specific version of this defense.

PERSONALLY, I want a scheme that fits our personnel--specifically our CBs. This is less true now that Rasul has left, but we have CB talent--even if its still a bit of an unknown, like Stokes and Valentine. But both of those guys are man guys. Jaire is a better man guy. You can still play a 2-high safety, anti-big-play scheme with more man underneath. And that's what we have the players to do.

What drives me nuts is that Gutey and Barry are clearly not on the same page. When this scheme was the thing with the Rams, they had a bunch of low-budget CBs who were scheme fits. They invested more in other positions than CB because if you just want guys to play a zone, read, react, and make the tackle, you don't need to spend mega-bucks and first round picks on them. Day Two picks and rookie contracts will do. And that's the issue I need to see smoothed out. If MLF wants this scheme, he needs to work with Gutey to get the defensive personnel to match it. If the team wants to hold strong to its personnel style, then they need to force MLF away from this full-time-prevent-defense thing.

But what can poor Joe Barry do with all this awful talent. Lock him up.
I heard Cunningham did it back in 1998, but looking at it, it was only 145. All kinds of yuck.

Barry needs to be gone no later than Feb. I don't expect him to be cut lose until after our last game. LaFleur must make this decision.

Previously said by Sherry Jackson, actress, in the John Wayne film "Trouble Along The Way". She was playing Wayne's young daughter. Not a bad film IMO. Before that, Red Sanders (UCLA Bruins coach) said it in the thirties or forties. Lombardi was just quoting, whether deliberately or from a half-forgotten memory, we (presumably) will never know.

I don't think I've ever heard a coach give less support to his co-ordinator than that line. (Not heard the full exchange.)

Yeah this feels like Mo Drayton's demise, where the angst from fans started to boil over that the org itself could feel it.

MLF was a big believer in Drayton but even he had to come to terms with the fact that his boi was no good, and that even Joe Fan could see it (Drayton is now head coach at Citadel, who are 0-11).

Lafleur needs personal accountability for the whole team. Everyone on staff is his hire. It’s his team. If all he can do is call plays, he simple needs to demote himself to OC.

I completely agree that Gutey and Barry (and probably MLF) are not on the same page.

But I''m rretty sure when "this scheme was the thing with the Rams" that LA had Jalen Ramsey playing CB.

And not only did LA send two 1st round picks to Jax for Ramsey, they paid him quite handsomely.

Now GB is paying Jaire a &%$@-ton as well, but he just has not produced anything like Ramsey did in LA.

yeah lol what else is he going to say

"you know what, you're right mr. local sports talk guy, and it never occurred to me. Barry, you are fired!"

"Yeah he should be fired, but we're not going to do it yet. But his seat is HOT!"

"I thought the defense performed admirably"
