Few quick comments and hopefully this discussion will be put to rest:
1) Matt Lafleur is a well paid coach of a historic NFL franchise. He’s a big boy. I can criticize him at will and he will be okay. He’s not any of you guys buddy. You don’t have to feel like you have to stick up for him. He’s the coach of the team, you aren’t going to get any awards at the owners meeting for standing up for your pal who is getting bullied.
2) I have never called for Lafleurs jobs and overall I’m pretty nuetral on his performance. If anything I am positive overall, I just mention the massive shortcomings a lot when they are discussed.
3) I promise if I “hated” Lafleur, I would just say it. I have no reason to lie about this. I didn’t think Bobby tonyan was long term TE1 material and I said it over and over. I didn’t think Alan Lazard was WR2 material, and I said it over and over. I was furious we didn’t fire drayton mid season and said it would cost us a playoff game, and I was right and I said it over and over. I did not like the Barry hire, and I told you guys that from the very beginning. I actually wanted to hire old man Wade Phillips.
All that said, If I “hated” Lafleur as the coach, or even thought he should be fired immediately, or wanted someone else to be our HC…I promise you guys that in plain language, I would say just that!
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

All day today on The Game its evident the radio talking heads are brainwashing themselves that it's all Jaire's fault now. No concept of a dysfunctional coaching staff or team dynamic breakdown to throw jabs at.
they beat the dysfunctional team stuff to death last week, this Jaire stuff is more newRingoCStarrQB wrote: ↑29 Dec 2023 17:29All day today on The Game its evident the radio talking heads are brainwashing themselves that it's all Jaire's fault now. There’s enough guys playing hard every week regardless of the situation and guys who should be leaders causing problems. I’d blame it on those players too. Because this their fault.
Valentine may not be Jaire, but he isn’t taking weeks off and acting like a jack off when he gets a chance to play.

Jaire has been inconsistent at best since he signed the big contract. It's obvious that he doesn't play all-out at times during games. He's become an injury waiting to happen over the last three years and doesn't appear to want to play through any injuries. The coin flip incident was a major sign of a player simply not caring about his team or teammates. This is all on Jaire and not on the coaches, except for the fact that they may have let it go on too long.RingoCStarrQB wrote: ↑29 Dec 2023 17:29All day today on The Game its evident the radio talking heads are brainwashing themselves that it's all Jaire's fault now. I know this is a public forum and such. But I, for one, would appreciate if you guys would chill on the porn talk, even in jest. This is a Packer football forum. I came here for Packer football. And other subjects can be chatted about on other parts of the forum.
Much appreciate your consideration.

thats just not true Willy, he had 14 pds in 2022 along with 54 tackles, and was selected to the pro bowl, again, he acted like a jerk, true, but we don't know the extent of his injuries this season, and this situation with Barry is even worse then the situation with McCarthy 6 years ago, our QB revolted back then.williewasgreat wrote: ↑30 Dec 2023 04:38Jaire has been inconsistent at best since he signed the big contract. this isn't the 60's when players did what they where told, heck even then the most expensive players of that era towed the company line, not so today, again Rasul Douglas started complaining in training camp, then again mid season, and it was such a distraction we traded him, players have been fed up with Barry for almost 2 seasons, Lafleur, being stubborn payed it no mind, that imho is a huge fail from our HC.
all this time I've felt Matt is a players coach, one who listens to them, heeds there advice, imo those type coaches are the winners, players go through the walls for those guys, look at this defense, players lose respect when a coach doesn't heed common sense advice, it was a huge mistake to bring Barry back for this season, this reaction from Alexander, while certainly wrong, imo was expected.

Yup. It'd be great if more folks remember the effect of the locker room and how it impacts the field. Some guys (e.g. Moss) had immense talent but were less than a positive impact on the locker room. I'm glad we have an organization who would pass on those guys. It impacts the performance on the field.musclestang wrote: ↑29 Dec 2023 20:13There’s enough guys playing hard every week regardless of the situation and guys who should be leaders causing problems. We all knew Alexander was a jackoff when we drafted him. We knew he would either be hated by opposing fans or by Packers fans. With these players you get the good with the bad. Usually they are awesome their first few years because they are still showing they got something to prove.
But when they get the success...it's hard to maintane it and their personality takes over. It also gets ugly when the performance isn't there.
Randy Moss. Jaire Alexander. Terrel Owens. Keyshaun Johnson. I could see Justin Jefferson being it.
That's just what you get with these guys

really, I thought every one here exalted that pick? your categorizing a bit here, that could be said about a lot of the best players in the league, we call them prima donna's, just goes with the territory, it's the same in business, the best expect preferential treatment, and it's sorta always been this way.go pak go wrote: ↑30 Dec 2023 09:49We all knew Alexander was a jackoff when we drafted him. Jaire restructured his contract last year to help the team, he didn't have to do that, and he was considered the best in the league in 2020, we made him the highest paid CB in the league after he lost 2021 to injury, thats how much our FO thought of Alexander and what he meant to this team.
funny how people are turning on Alexander after he did what he and others should have done 2 months ago when we traded Douglas, demanded the removal of Joe Barry, instead of getting rid of Barry they scape goated Jerry Gray, thats what Alexander and other players are fed up with, stupid decisions from there head coach over ruling the consensus opinions of his players.
this idea that the FO is always right, is why we have 6 wins this year.

Jaire Alexander is not like every other "best player". Alexander is not like a Jordy Nelson who was also a "best player"
Jaire Alexander is clearly a "couple of screws loose guy". Doen't mean you can't win with him. Doesn't mean you can't love the player and the talent. But everyone here absolutely knew this guy was a different cat.
The clip from 1:00 to 1:20 was an example we all knew in pre draft. The dude was a cock off. And we liked it. Texas begs for players like this. It's not a knock. But these guys are riskier and we are seeing the "other side" with Alexander right now because his performance down.

Restructuring is not helping the team. It’s helping themselves. You basically just convert salary to signing bonus. Jaire doesn’t even have to agree to it. The team can just do it and cut him a check that day.

According to SporTrac, he "Converted $370,000 of 2023 salary plus an $11.45M roster bonus into signing bonus, adding one void year, clearing $9.456M of cap space with Green Bay (GB)" or, pay me now or pay me later, but pay me.Yoop wrote: ↑30 Dec 2023 10:26really, I thought every one here exalted that pick? your categorizing a bit here, that could be said about a lot of the best players in the league, we call them prima donna's, just goes with the territory, it's the same in business, the best expect preferential treatment, and it's sorta always been this way.go pak go wrote: ↑30 Dec 2023 09:49We all knew Alexander was a jackoff when we drafted him. Yeah. Restructuring also puts more dead cap on the team down the road so it may make them "less cuttable" because the cap savings is less if they are released.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑30 Dec 2023 10:36Restructuring is not helping the team. If people quit reacting to isolated incidents (i.e., this Jaire blip on the radar screen event), but rather think more globally to identify the root causes of the coaching staff's obvious multi-year player and team management failures .......... then maybe the right conclusions will be drawn regarding the viability of the coaching staff to lead the Packers to championships. Gotta give Jordan Love a ton of credit and sympathy for having to put up with these miserable situations. Doubs, Kraft, Musgrave, Wicks, Jones, Dillon, Reed, etc. too, to name a few! Trust is earned ....... not expected/automatic.Yoop wrote: ↑30 Dec 2023 09:13thats just not true Willy, he had 14 pds in 2022 along with 54 tackles, and was selected to the pro bowl, again, he acted like a jerk, true, but we don't know the extent of his injuries this season, and this situation with Barry is even worse then the situation with McCarthy 6 years ago, our QB revolted back then.williewasgreat wrote: ↑30 Dec 2023 04:38Jaire has been inconsistent at best since he signed the big contract. lets see now, I'am owed 21 mil. but I'll just take 11 mil now, and forfeit the ability to invest the other 10 mil, heck the market is rebounding and I could turn that 10 mil. into a hefty profit, nah I'll just act like like a jerk cause I got the team over a barrel.
a bird in hand is worth a whole flock in the bushes.
also Randy Moss was not a locker room cancer, thats made up BS from disgruntled Packer fans, same way Alexander isn't either.
I love all this company line some of you are drooling, in Alexanders case, just like Rodgers the company let both down, funny how these players are fine till they tell the company to go hose themselves.

I don't think elite CBs are worth the money, because they seldom maintain elite-level play for more than like 2-3 years. It's better to pay for guys who are borderline like Sul.
Sadly we kept Goofus and traded Gallant.
