Absolutely no GM or coachspeak will convince me this round fell how they wanted it to.
Brutal brutal course of events.
I'm always exited to be more happy about who we get than who we don't get, but picks 40-44 have been really really tough to swallow.

And to be clear, I was meh on the Morgan pick, but that fell how the team wanted it. I believe that. But this has NOT fallen how the team wanted it. Their actions are clear.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑26 Apr 2024 19:10Absolutely no GM or coachspeak will convince me this round fell how they wanted it to.

Right? McKinstry was still on the board. Melton was on the board. Is Guty not looking for a front line CB? That's what I have to take from this.
He could say the value for KoolAid and Melton wasn't there. But I just don't agree. If they are rated a 2nd, you take one of them. All I can take from this is that Guty is NOT looking for a potential starter at CB. Maybe a developmental guy.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

Cool. Cooper is very good. I like his fit. I'm excited about him.
Our secondary is in trouble though.

Coooooooooooop!
we'll take Cooper, but we sure could have used a CB
The one spot we NEEDED was ILB. I think we always targeted Cooper with this pick.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑26 Apr 2024 19:11And to be clear, I was meh on the Morgan pick, but that fell how the team wanted it. I believe that. Nice, I think high end LB's make a D go. When Campbell was playing peak ball, the D was totally different.
We've been playing with at least 1 scrub at LB since as long as I can remember.

It's literally round 2. Who are you and what have you done with the real YoHo?

I don't need a "cornerback." I need a guy who can play safety and nickel. Like we have no second safety. We need a starter at safety. We have a mediocre nickel. We need a future filler at nickel.Scott4Pack wrote: ↑26 Apr 2024 19:11Right? McKinstry was still on the board. Melton was on the board. Is Guty not looking for a front line CB? It's fine if they're satisfied with the corner room. No one is satisfied with the middle of the field secondary play. McKinnie and nothing. Nixon and nothing.
We have plenty of time. But tough tough tough to see this trajectory of the second round with the DB run.
Cooper is a great addition to a needed position and can do some off-ball and some edge/blitzing and is a high level athlete and fits everything. Love the pick.
Tough to ignore the holes we could have filled due to trades and small pick margins.
I love the fact Cooper is a little.bit nasty! Could be good on the inside
Not gonna lie, that highlight tape of Cooper on NFL network was totally underwhelming.
Most here would have been happy with Cooper at 41 a week ago.
Today, it seems, it’s a catastrophe.

We have plenty of time to add valuable pieces.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑26 Apr 2024 19:13It's literally round 2. Who are you and what have you done with the real YoHo?
We do not have a ton of time to add day one starters. And our safety room needs a day one starter.
We have 3 more picks tonight. We might get them.
But the course of picks from 40-44 where a bunch of DBs and the best C/G on the table (not sure if we would love him, but still) is definitely a blow.
We're a good team as it stands. We're gonna compete this year. I'm not down on the team. But that was a really tough stretch of draft for Packers fans and for a secondary in need of a talent infusion.

Walker and Cooper, we got to have one of the most athletic linebacker groups now. Hopefully that means they are good football players. We got faster
