I predict:

A: Walker, Morgan, Meyers, Jenkins, Tom

or

B: Walker, Morgan, Jenkins, Rhyan, Tom

Green Bay Packers claimed placekicker James Turner via waivers on Thursday. This comes after the Packers missed out on UFL kicker Jake Bates — who signed with the Detroit Lions — and released Jack Podlesny. Interestingly enough, the Lions actually waived Turner when they officially added Bates to their offseason roster, making Turner available to Green Bay as a consolation prize after the Bates sweepstakes.

It's clear by reading it that it is 100% speculative, but I think that is where a lot of opinions are converging. The real point he is trying to make is that the Packers can get away with a larger new money average because he is only owed $11M for 2024. I still expect Love's camp will try hard to get a shorter contract so 6 years would surprise me, but $60M/per would not, at this point.

As we keep talking about our WRs and their ability, we also need to see how many of them become excellent students of the playbook. There are gonna be times when speedy feet, grippy hands, and even great routes will take a back seat if a guy plants the wrong play in his head or hesitates about it. This is the year these young guys go full bore 100% in the playbook and adapt to changes at the LOS.

I feel like as a rookie that’s when you are investing mostly into learning the playbook. From there on out you are perfecting your craft and technical skills.

I think you are mostly right. But in circumstances like these Packers, I think that MLF kept some of the playbook off the field, to make it easier for the young guys to play to a faster speed. This year, I think he adds more. So, they also need to add. Plus, they will be more about playing naturally at higher speed and thinking less. I'm really excited to see what can happen.

Random question, probably best suited for @RingoCStarrQB. How do the Packers determine eligibility for the Ring of Honor on the façade? Charles Woodson went up because he made the HOF, but he played a good portion of his career with the Raiders. Where does that leave someone like Julius Peppers who is set to be inducted this coming year into Canton? Are there other HOF'ers who have spent chunks of time with Green Bay that have not been honored?

I think it depends on their impact with the team. Woodson won a SB and was inducted to the HoF. He had 7 years here too. Its not like it was one contract and he was out. Reggie White played a good portion of his career in Philly but still had 6 years here.

Peppers on the other hand only had 3 years here and never ended up winning a ring thanks to Bumstick. Peppers also only had 1 pro bowl season where Woodson had a DPOY, 4 pro bowls, and 2 all pro seasons.

Peppers doesnt belong in the ring for his accomplishments here.

It's a judgement call. Reggie White, for instance, spent eight years in Philly which were his statistically-best years. However, he also had six really good years here and was instrumental in turning around the team's perception and winning a Super Bowl, so he's in. Woodson is in because this is where he got his DPoY award and a Super Bowl over seven seasons.

Julius Peppers will not be in because over three seasons he didn't do anything above and beyond his earlier stints. Ted Hendricks might be the best example: Just one magical All-Pro season here and then he was gone. Can't count that over his other stints.

Peppers and Hendricks won't make the facade because the powers that be in Titletown won't let Emlen Tunnell or Jack Vainisi on the facade. Tunnell started 25 games for the Lombardi Packers and received a ring after the Packers defense shut out the Giants 37-0 in the 1961 NFL Championship Game.

You've got to be here for a while and you've got to win. Peppers 3 years in a 17 year career was nice but they didn't win. Emlen won once with us, but 3 years, in an era where most guys had to play with one team for their whole career, doesn't make it, considering we've got guys with 5 rings.
