Percent of vote the winner got will be in parenthesis, position change vs. 2023 will be in brackets.

Here's how this works:

Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll. You may vote up to TWO players (a change that was made mid-poll last year, seemed to work well).

Simply voting is not enough!

Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 15-20 guys, new players added in bunches every few days).

Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

Wooden is the guy on the board most likely to make an impact on the field without an injury opportunity; he'll get rotational snaps on the DL. Also has about the coolest name for a GB defensive lineman.

Then on to the backup QB. Unless Pratt blows everyone away I think its a given Clifford will be the backup with Pratt on the PS for a year; next year being the real backup battle. So Sean Clifford gets my second pick.

Give me Williams and Hopper.

Williams is next man up at S as it stands. Hes pretty versatile and can do a lot of different things that allows you to get versatile with Bullard and McKinney. In the event Nixon is struggling or you just want to play Bullard in the big nickel, you can bring Williams in for defensive flexibility. At the very least he will end up being next man up at his position.

Hopper should be a key STs player and potentially push for a starting spot if McDuffie is beat out, Cooper isnt ready yet, or Quay continues to be a pretty mediocre LB. Regardless we are going to see a ton of STs snaps from Hopper and with his athleticism he should be an impact player.

Went with Wooden and Williams.

Though it is tough for me overlook Corey Ballentine. The dude can ball and held up incredibly well last year when force to give snaps.

Williams and Clifford.

Two backups who could play key roles in the season’s success.

'Been voting Wooden here for a while.

I'm gonna go with Jacob Monk with my other vote. Backup OL often see the field. I think Morgan will be our swing T, but I don't think he is a good option inside. Looking at the roster, I have to think Monk is the heavy favorite backup IOL. He's listed at C but has also played G in college. Who do we have who is a better option at Guard? Newman?? Yeah right.

I actually think Monk is more likely than Morgan to take RG1 from Rhyan.

Was watching some 2023 highlights, Colby Wooden blocked the FG in SF playoff game. That's huge ! Glad to see him getting the votes

Not sure Monk has a real chance at it this year. Rhyan has had 2 seasons in the Strength/Conditioning program and his run blocking/drive skills are ahead of Monk- and so is his knowledge of the offense.

What if you moved Zach Tom to OC, then would you feel better about Josh Myers as back-up IOL ?
Not saying that's likely, just that I'd feel better about IOL depth in that alignment given the limited options at OG/OC as you noted above

I don't think Monk will actually unseat Rhyan for RG1, just that if anyone does so, my bet would be him. Although now that I think about it, he could lose that spot by Morgan playing well enough to start at RT and Tom moving inside to RG.

Rhyan flashed good play last year but was inconsistent. I think he starts, but if he is still inconsistent this year, I could see him losing the starting job to a more reliable player. Morgan doesn't have the experience inside to make me think he would beat Rhyan on reliability, but Monk seems like a savvy OL.

On paper, I like the idea. I like Myers's athletic profile at guard. But I am hearing that the coaches have said that they are continuing to have Myers focus exclusively on C so I don't think that will happen in reality.

I think if for whatever reason they want/need to make a change there, their first move will be to move Tom inside and promote Morgan (or Walker if Morgan takes his job). Otherwise their best option might just be Monk.

this stuff has always been hard to predict for me, heck Jenkins is also center capable, I could see him move to C and Morgan playing LG, MLF says the best 5 will play, that could easily be Walkers, Morgan, Jenkins, possibly 3 different players at RG and Toms, or another combination, my point is we don't get to see all these combination in practice, our info always seems a week or so late on just how they do at a alternate position, heck I doubt anyone saw the Sitton/Lang switch prior to them flopping the G positions

This is a make or break year for Rhyan. I have actually believed patience was going to be key for him. We were taking a college LT and switching not only his position but the side he played on. There was always going to be an adjustment. After 2 years though he needs to show up or just be the next Royce Newman.

I actually think Monk is more competition to Myers at C than to OG. If Myers has another season like last year get him outta there. He isnt in the teams long term plans. There is no way we should be playing mediocrity at C with no long term development plans when we can put Monk in there.

I do still believe the best possible line this season does not include Myers in the starting lineup.

Didn't help that he showed up for his rookie season fat and incredibly out of shape.

indeed.
I'm hoping Rhyan follows a similar trajectory as another OG who tried the fat, drunk & stupid method...some guy named TJ Lang.

This serves as a good point as far as Jordan Morgan. It makes sense to try him at all 4 spots in OTAs, get some film and teaching points. But as far as getting Morgan into the starting line-up, if you project him to RG- then you're asking a rookie to learn the NFL, learn a new position and learn a new side of the OL. On top of learning a new offense. That's a BIG ask and hearkens back to Sitton's famous comment on switching sides -

right, almost everything is the opposite, and Morgan has mostly played left side, makes sense to keep him there for the first year.

I had forgot that Jenkins had played C in college, Andy Herman brought it up, so thats another option, that would open a spot on the line Morgan could have a easier time adjusting to.

I think Rhyan will be favored to become the RG, just seems like the bigger longer mano man type for strong side runs, gap blocking, maybe thats my old school thinking, but I like it

this offensive rebuild (retooling) has been fun to watch, receiver explosion, new RB, more additions to OL, I think if this defense gels up quick, this team will be tough to beat.
