Who is RB Wright? Did you mean Lloyd?

Jennings will be one to watch on the iOL now that he's healthy and returning to practice.

I think Lloyd's injury might free up one additional space on the initial 53, as BSA suggested earlier.
Agree on Jennings.

Lloyd to IR to begin the year might actually be a blessing in disguise and then work him back onto the roster in October/November when fully healthy. Dillon is such a tough cut and I just don't think they go that route, even though I had it in my 53.

I don't want to continue to have the same argument, but I would bet a healthy sum that both Jones and Telfort making it is not going to happen. I could easily see one or the other, but I just do not see both.

Similar to Lloyd, Hopper is an absolute lock unless the plan is to IR him for the beginning of the season.

Haha, yup. That's what I meant. Dunno what my brain did on that one.

I'd edit it if I weren't the type of person who posts a roster in a screenshot of excel instead of just typing it

You're right that Hopper is a lock as a third round pick; but man, I don't see him getting ahead of these guys and seeing the field much given the way Wilson and McDuffie have been practicing. Not that they are elite awesome players or anything, but they are consistently in with the 1s and not blowing plays or doing anything to lose the job and Hopper just still has some ways to go. Maybe this is still pre-draft bias, and I know some reporters have mentioned that they see what the team sees in him when he gets on the field, but he really feels like a guy who would be on the bubble but for being a 3rd round rookie--which happens from time to time; doesn't mean anything for his medium and long-term prospects.

53 guys you would least like to subject to waivers
yup
A little "gamesmenship" takes place on the main cutdown day- and I remember GB having some unbalanced depth charts after those first cuts.
Then they got balanced out over the first few weeks of the season. I also remember GB released their LS - Orzech - and then re-signed him a couple days later. That open roster spot allowed Gute to work through some procedural moves with another player.

Here's a quote from Ben Sirmans, talking about RB Emanuel Wilson in pass pro via Bill Huber

https://www.si.com/nfl/packers/updating ... j5f1wyc60z

Wilson’s ability to play on third down will be a determining factor in making the 53.

“We’re still working on that part of it,” position coach Ben Sirmans said. “He has shown that when he does attack things with the proper technique that he can block people. …

“We’ve put him in where we’ve brought pressure that he’s much more educated at what his assignment is and making really good decisions. So, I think that’s something that we’re working towards, but we’ve just got to continue to put him in those situations to get a full answer on that.
But my trust level is growing with him.”

Coaches are conservative by nature - and I don't think they'd be comfortable rolling into 2024 with 2/3 of the RBs still mastering pass pro
Both Wilson and Lloyd need more time there...which is typical...so I think they put AJ on the 53 to start the year. Gotta protect the franchise

My OL picks for the 53

Walker-Jenkins-Myers-Morgan-Tom-Dillard-Rhyan-Monk-Tenuta are my top 9

Jenkins can play LT or OC in a pinch
Glover needs a year
Caleb Jones didn't make the leap
Kadeem Telfort, PS
UDFA Donovan Jennings missed too much time to earn a spot in August, PS
I think Newman's released, no upside left and he just gets pushed around too much

Rush or Cover ? :)

If you favor rush, then maybe Cox/Mosby makes the squad over the 7th CB ?
Given Hafley's desire to rotate the DL like crazy, I lean toward keeping a 5th EDGE - and there are 2 viable candidates
Although its fair to mention - Clark, Brooks and Wooden have all seen action on the EDGE this offseason

Largely this, but I dump #7 WR Toure for another RB, be it Dillon or one of the others. There is just too much attrition at the position to not safeguard the 3rd RB you like to begin the season. I'd also exchange King for Welch. As much as I like Welch, I think he's much more likely to clear waivers and add to the PS than King, who I really think has the tools to become something. I want him safe and sound on the initial roster.

Why are people using "Edge"? I thought the Packers were a 4-3 team. With two DE's and two DT's. And two LB's and 5 DB's in the most common configuration.

Dline: Gary Wyatt, Clark, Van Ness starters. Slayton, Brooks Wooden, Smith, Enagbare and Mosby as rotational. Cox to ps.

Kicker: Joseph Too bad about Carlson missing that chip shot final kick but it sealed his fate

Backup QB Pratt

Wilson is the #2 RB.

I was surprised to see Lafleur playing Wilson as long as he did, right now he's our #2, 2why chance injury with a player in a meaningless game, McCury (SP) or whatever his name is looked pretty good, Merriweather, not so much, just a bigger bruiser style like Dillon

Interesting that you kept the FB over Davis. I considered it too, but over Sims. Davis is just too valuable on ST to cut.
I suspect that Ford has a serious injury. He was limping pretty badly, probably a knee injury. Just put him on IR

I just thought it was interesting they brought Pearson back which tells me the TEs they have on the roster aren't cutting their H-back role.

Also know Davis got hurt and we may just injury settle him. But I don't keep up on this tremendously so I could certainly be wrong.

Seems like they brought back Pearson as soon as MLF decided he wasn't playing any of his starters in the BAL game. They needed a body
With as much 12 personnel as MLF likes to run, I'd guess they'll keep 4 TEs on the 53.

I think with 2 RB on short term IR and 2 on the practice squad (available for game day callups) that will be enough. It’s not a high value position and they did something similar last season. Toure, Davis, Welch, Ballentine, Rochell make it on special teams ability while also being able to play something else at a marginal level in a pinch.

I didn't know if it would be better to start my own roster prediction thread or if we're just going to deposit predictions here, but this is where I am (I don't list specialists because I don't care even this year when we have a battle)

image.png

Hardest cuts were Clifford, Rochell, and Mosby. Last on the roster were Dillon/Wilson, Cox, and Telfort.

Jennings will be one to watch on the iOL now that he's healthy and returning to practice.

I think Lloyd's injury might free up one additional space on the initial 53, as BSA suggested earlier.

The PS is incomplete but those are the mostly younger guys I hope we keep around. If we can have Ballentine or even Dillard as our vets on the list, that might be nice too; I dunno.
