If you were to ask me, I would say it seems like Brazil may be due for a little “freedom”

There is an honor in being chosen to play in that game and an excitement for something new and fresh, but yeah, it wore off real quick. I still say it was better, all-around, than having to go to Philadelphia.
Read More. Post Less.
I just saw the play where Love got hurt and it looked like his ankle and not his knee?
Besides a few boneheaded ST plays I saw a lot of good things (I only saw the 4th quarter).

I think the Eagles offensive line was the difference maker for their team. Aside from the QB sneak fail towards the end of the game, I thought they played downhill and aggressive throughout.

Just watched the game. Life is different with a baby.
Overall it was just not a fun game. The NFL product just seems to be getting worse and worse

Surprised to see you admit this. I always remember you being very much an NFL apologist in more ways than one.

1) congrats on the baby!
2) agree, the Brazil greed gave us all a s*** sandwich!

You've been gone for a while. My time of being a homer has gone down for a while.
During the off-season I watched a lot of 2003 - 2010 era games.
It's night and day to what we watch today. The athletes are amazing today. Don't get me wrong. But the chemistry and physicality are gone. The product is absolutely getting worse and worse.
Thanks! Yeah everyone may have noticed I just don't post much. Life is very different for me now.
I don't think the product on the field is much to do with Brazil. I think the problem is far bigger. I think it is more due to no practices. No preseason. So many rules on how you can block and tackle.
There is just no chemistry. No physicality.
Like it wasn't a good offensive performance for either team and yet there was over 55 points scored. I feel like I'm watching 2000's and 2010's era Big 12 football.
And who knows. Maybe it's because I'm getting older and the Packers aren't the only thing in my life now. But it just doesn't have the magic that it did 10+ years ago.
Only team packers beat in week one is the bears under Lafleur.
We need to evaluate how we can come to week one not looking like idiots.

Add Musgrave to the bottom list. He didn't flatten his route. Made it possible for the INT.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑06 Sep 2024 22:58Top 3:
Reed - need I say more. He cooked. Even on a play that was called back he fought for a TD.
Preston - just all around played solid IMO. Pressure was good. Contain was good. Thought he played the run well enough.
Wilson - made the most of his opportunities and honestly sparked the run game. Jacobs cake alive late but Wilson made it happen first.
Bottom 3:
Jaire - just no physicality. Couldn’t tackle. Got bullied at the line by Brown. Even on his pick he should have downed it.
Love - you can’t be paid that well and play that poorly. Entirely too many missed easy ones and his interception was atrocious. Stop falling back on your throws when you don’t need to.
Walker - you got abused more than a BDSM video. I’ve never read it but I imagine Christian Grey would have enjoyed clapping your cheeks.

Yes. Mostly full. There were some empty seats in the upper most deck. Kinda odd for a city of 23 million.MY_TAKE wrote: ↑06 Sep 2024 23:55They were close to full from what I could tell.Pugger wrote: ↑06 Sep 2024 23:48I didn't see the game. Goodell just does what the owners want. The days of a Commissioner like Rozelle cajoling and browbeating them are looooong gone.

I am upset about the loss. But overall, I'm also POSITIVE about the Packers. In general terms, they are not as good as the Eagles and it showed. But even with all the mistakes and leaving points on the field, we still almost rocked the team that probably wins the NFC East. Give the Eagles credit. They deserved to win. They remained consistent in all phases. In the end, their biggest problem was some errant passes by Hurt and they survived that.
Now to the Packers.
1. Ground game took too long to get going. Wilson earned a game ball in my mind for adding a spark.
2. Penalties worked against us more than the Eagles. It's almost as if somebody meant for the Eagles to win. (That doesn't take away from what I said above.)
3. Youth, youth, and more youth. Take the youngest team in the league, play only subs in the preseason, and what do you get? Last night! I hope we don't struggle through September and into October like last year because people should've been fired. We'll see, especially since I'm assuming that Love misses some time.
4. I thought Walker started out well but then was picking the wrong gaps to fill in the run support. Happened several times. Is Barkley that quick to switch lanes?
5. Our pass rush actually stayed in their lanes very well most of the game. Contained Hurts well.
6. The OLine got better as the game wore on but collapsed at the end when the Eagles knew we had to pass.
7. Offensive discipline sucked all night. Illegal formation penalties TWICE on same drive? And on the same drive that we have 12 on the field (erasing a TD)! If we played good ball (not even excellent) we should've hung 40 points.
8. How is Willis going to be ready for significant playing time? And the offensive game plan will have to go against 8-man boxes almost every play.
Better hope that Love doesn't miss more than a month.

We need to score TDs. LaCoach was a total bust too. As is Goodell.

I think my favorite defensive play last night was when Gary just ran around Lane Johnson untouched for the sack. Johnson was just standing there and then complained to the ref like wtf just happened, he must’ve cheated
One positive takeaway... yo, Edgerrin Cooper. He was in on 11 snaps and made two great plays. He immediately has shown playmaking that takes weeks for Walker to show, and instincts that quite frankly I have NEVER seen from Quay, or really any of our other guys.
And this is after missing much of preseason/camp due to injury.
Unless it turns out to have been a fluke (I feel like instincts are tough to fake), we are going to have to start him sooner rather than later.

My take from the game:
1) That reminded me of a playoff game. Because there were like 10 separate instances where, had only one of them gone our way, we would have won. Plus the refs screwed us. Reminiscent of the many gut punch playoff losses we have had over the past decade or two.
2) Sky is the limit (assuming Love doesn't miss a lot of time). I can't remember the last time I have seen a team play so sloppily. And yet we still almost beat a team that should be a SB contender.
3) Not a believer in Jacobs yet, but he at least got better as the game wore on, which may be the strategy with a guy like him. Christian Watson's dad was saying that on twitter a couple weeks ago and was vindicated imo. But as of right now would still rather have Jones. Wilson was the better RB in the first half.
4) Obviously these results were wacky due to playing on a slippery surface in a 3rd world country, so although I have opinions, due to the nature of the game, it's hard to be too confident in any direction yet. That was basically halfway between a preseason game and a normal game.
5) I think it's funny that no matter what we do, no matter who our coach or QB or DC is, no matter our defensive personnel, it seems like every year we come out of the gate the same as always: really good offense and passing game, and defense that can't stop anybody lol. There is no guarantee that Hafley is an improvement, people haven't considered that this offseason but it is true.
