From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
I does not, you are right, but no one said it did.
And you will never hear a doctor or LaFleur ever talk about the specifics of a players injury. Even the 2-4 or 3-6 week timely didn't come from the Packers. It came from the media. One of those guys trying to sell ink.
Who wants him to play so badly? Me personally, I have said if he is ready to play he should play. There is no reason to hold him back more. There is no lack of faith.
And what happened with Jones may also happen with Love. Given the new reporting from Demovsky that may be the case.
1.) I want Jordan Love to play.
2.) I do not want him subject to further injury by rushing him back.
3.) I question the validity of any reports right now due to all the posturing and conflicting reports last week.
4.) I fully understand the benefit of the Packers playing this situation close to the vest and even providing misinformation through back end channels in order to gain a competitive advantage.
5.) When he actually does play, I will be confident that it is because he is physically and mentally ready and the team did not rush him back.
6.) Until he actually does play, I am not reading into any further reporting on the topic.
Definitely, however I believe some are under the impression that the 3-6 week timeline put out by the media at the outset of this was set in stone and if Love returns next week, we are rushing him back.
your playing word games here, rush simply means hurry him back, yes, in a 1 and done game Love would most likely play, but this game is not that, and we have 14 more games to play.
3 or 4 days after LOve was hurt most members here thought 3 weeks would be the most Love would miss, many thought only 2 games, now you and some others practically demand that he plays this week, and you have almost no idea of the severity of his injury, other then some beat writers comments.
If the Doctors clear him then I expect he'll play, but I have doubts
IF the swelling is down and it feels reasonably good, get out there and play. Love isn't going to run around like RG3 anyway, he isn't that kind of QB and if he did run he actually knows how to protect himself unlike RG3. (I think he knows how to slide)
I don't think anyone should assume the pack can win with Willis next week. I mean everyone knows how that can go. I didn't think we could lose to the Giants last year and we know how that went. If he was almost ready last week I think he will go. The one "but" is the Packers medical staff seem to be a little more cautious than other medical staffs.

Not sure why you insist on distorting other's opinions.
The rationale for him playing this week has been unanimously based upon the condition his knee injury no longer presents significant additional risk to his long term health. Nobody here has "demanded" anything other than not to unnecessarily hold him out because some reporting suggested it was a minimum 3-week injury.

demand may be to strong a opinion, however there sure seems to be a bunch here that want him to play Sunday, and who knows if this issue wont cause a more severe condition, I don't, you don't, and no one has cleared him to play yet, again, Tenn is not some juggernaut team.
actually I'am looking ahead, I think this game is perfect to get Willis more confidence, give him more pass options, we may need him later this season, so this would be a experience builder for him, as well as building more chemistry with our receivers, the guy has only been here a month.
also if you want to be a good run blocking OL, then doing it in real game time is important, we'll also need it later this season, I see pluses to playing Willis another week and almost none by playing Love, imo we should not need Love to beat Tenn.

I think Tennessee has a better team than the Colts. I expected better from the Colts honestly. I completely underestimated how bad their defense is. The Titans defense is actually pretty good though so I wouldn’t look past them at all if Willis is the guy on the field.
I don't think his knee is going to be any more at risk now than at any other time structurally. It's going to take some funny forces to hurt it further, just like any other day.
The biggest issue is moving, planting to throw etc without being limited by pain. Realistically that could be this week or even 2 weeks from now. He's young, healthy and has great trainers, BUT, we all heal at our own pace. You can't beat physiology, it just takes time.

If love is ready to play he should play. Period. No need to hold him out simply because this is the 3rd game of the season or some internet doctor said he should miss anywhere between 2-6 weeks.

Not a soul on this forum has any knowledge of the severity of Love's injury or the current status. The irony is that the timeline given at the outset was ALSO from some beat writer, NOT anyone inside the Packers organization.
There is no demanding that he play this week, simply a statement that he should play if he is ready to play. He should not be held out due to an over abundance of caution because it is JUST week 3. I also have no care to see Malik Willis or any other QB ever again if Love is cleared to play. I could not care less about getting Willis reps or confidence or anything else. Love's INJURY might keep out 1 or 2 more weeks and that is ok too.

It wasn't too long ago you argued vehemently against playing young QBs before they're ready. That throwing them to the wolves could ruin their confidence and have long term impact on their play. Fear of the rush, seeing phantom rushers, rushing their reads, etc, etc.
Now here you are advocating for Willis to get another start, regardless of Love's health, so that he may gain some much needed experience. Mind you, he's only been with the team going on 4 weeks.

given choice I still hold those values, I think it's best for puppys to be completely free of the ti t prior to letting them play with the big doggies
we really don't have that option though, Willis is our backup, and we really have no idea if we'll need him to be ready in later games, the more ready we make him now the better our chance for success later.
Besides Willis is in year two, so he's had a couple off seasons of learning the intricacies, what he needs is the real time game experience.
I've convinced myself now, we need to give this safety valve player more time in the saddle, where on a mission, and we need to know that our backup QB can guide us through those troubling late season games if Love should miss parts of them.
I know to most here, every game is a must win, there not though, heck Tenn isn't even in our conference, we lose this one and it probably doesn't amount to a pile of, whatever, perfecting our run blocking, and getting this kid more time under center could save our season, we need to look more into our future here.
Start a backup QB even if the starting QB is healthy to get the backup some experience to call upon if needed in the future does not sound like a recipe for success.

what kind of strategy is it to put all eggs in one basket, seriously a coach has to plan for all expectations/variables.
there is no better time to give Willis more experience, wouldn't hurt Love a bit to sit another game either.
we'll see what happens, but more and more I think Lafleur will play Willis again this week, using almost identical play plan as last week, just so many benefits with doing that, and those run blocking schemes are best practiced in real time action, ya don't get that during the week in practice.
I prefer this, but I'am fine if he starts Love, just think it would be a wasted opportunity to get our backup QB valuable experience.

The normal strategy. Coaches don't just start backups for the sake of getting backups experience. Why not start the backup tackles then? Or give the rookie safeties a start this Sunday? If the starters are healthy and cleared to play the starters should play. Every game in the NFL matters to a varying degree.

If that happens we WILL lose. If Love is cleared to play LaFleur will play him.

Love needs more experience too. Don't forget he is only in year 2 of starting.

Why in the world would you want to start the backup if the starter is good to go??? It's week 3; a notch in the loss column is faaaaaar more consequential than any potential gain in the backup's experience.

I’ll wait a day or two because he very well may be testing it out and the knee may or may not pass that test. But this is good news regardless. He’s at least close. We can at least put validity in those reports

The video embedded in that tweet does show him jumping around on it pretty well. You are right, we will need to see how it responds after a days work, but this is definitely moving in the right direction.

Unless there is a setback, he is playing. They don't send them out there to practice to test it. It's already tested and they limit reps.
