Not saying that.. But, it's not like they don't have a couple of drives like that this year already.

And really, If it was Love back there, what would you think? You would have at least wanted the chance..................

Both drives were the beginning of the 2nd quarter.

1 against the 49ers that was a 98 yard drive, 2 plays, 97 yard TD pass to Jefferson.
1 against the Giants was 99 yards, 11 plays, 6:44 play clock needed.

They needed 95 yards, in 1:46 seconds, and the 2 pointer with no timeouts.
That situations has NEVER occurred this century.

Here are the 3 times that has happened where the TD is the go ahead:

Of course we would have wanted the chance. EVERYONE is sympathetic to the no call. What we are not sympathetic to is the assumption that the penalty would have led to a win.

I cracked up while watching the Vikes have to trot back out onto the field to run the "free kick." What a humiliating exercise. Bad enough that you lose the game on a no-call facemask resulting in a safety, surrendering 2 points, but that safety should not have even stood because the facemask would have nullified it.

But then you have to go out there and run a play that, again, everybody with eyes can see that you shouldn't be having to run at all, for the sole purpose of giving the other team the ball to put the final nail in your coffin; a forced turnover. Hahahahaha, oh man that's brutal. :rotf:

No we don't! This wound is fresh for them, and its effects may be yet to be fully felt.

For us, that play was over a decade ago, and we won the trophy the following season so it's not like we squandered our SB window when it opened like 2014 or 2020-21. Complete water under the bridge now.

Their no-call last night is actually more analogous to Fail Mary, which ended up hurting us badly in playoff seeding that year, and then we had to humiliate ourselves by letting them kick the PAT.

I don't think any Vikings fans said it would lead to a win. But they would have liked to have had the chance for the team to try.

The Fail Mary would have been an immediate win. Not a chance to go 80yds for the TD and 2pt for the tie. The facemask was bad but not as bad since they still needed the miracle. The facemask story will be dead when they roll AFC South the next few weeks. We had the Scab Ref selling his story for weeks after.

You have to wonder what these zebras are looking at. I recall a playoff game in AZ before we won the SB when Rodgers' facemask was yanked down so far his hemet covered his eyes. Another Cardinal defender got a pick 6 and the Pack lost in overtime. :?

I remember that, but thought it was the year earlier when we lost that high scoring game, what was it? 47 to 48???????

the ref said he didn't see the hand on the face mask, but stevie wonder would have seen Darnolds head twisted back, terrible officiating seems the norm these days

I looked and that playoff game in AZ was in January 2016. Yes, officiating in pretty bad these days.

Not a single person on my Vikings board has claimed they would have won. But they all would have had liked the chance. Not sure which Vikings fans you are talking to.

I'm sure there are some fans with unshaken faith that Darnold woulda pulled off the comeback, but I'd imagine the vast majority thought it was unlikely. What's unanimous is that it sucks y'all were robbed of the chance to even try.

I'm not into ranking officiating catastrophes - Play in the league long enough and you'll get your share. I bet EVERY team's fans feel wronged at some point. That in mind, I personally would not extend review or challenges to penalties, because that's a Pandora's box better left unopened. For example, if coaches could challenge for potential penalties, they'd do that on EVERY game-deciding play that goes against their team - just in case there's a minor hold, contact downfield, movement millisecond before the snap, OL lined up half an inch too deep etc. that can be dug out of a replay. If the opponent won by a last-second FG, I'd challenge that kick just in case. I'd hate for every close game to end with a replay review instead of a celebration.

Had our defense played up to their abilities, it wouldn't be an issue. It really is that simple. Should this be reviewable? I'm not sure. Does it suck? Sure, but it's part of the game. The problem is the NFL has a problem. When some teams get calls, or non-calls like this on a regular basis (KC ssems ot have their share lately) fans start to wonder why. And then you see some calls that looks ticky-tacky while others more blatant are not called at all. It's a perception issue, one that is more apparent today due to technology being better and having so many cameras at every game recording everything.

It's like Mahomes fake stepping out of bounds before he gets hit. You hit and he goes out of bounds it roughing, you don't and he gets another 10 yards and you look like an idiot.
