Does anyone know what th rule is for rushing on FGs? ESPN guys say this is a penalty because Slaton and Wyatt behind him are pushing directly up the face of the long snapper. I know Slaton was lined up correctly to start but it look like he slid directly over the LS on the snap. Does it only matter where you line up?

It only matters where they line up pre-snap. Whoever is saying otherwise is confusing it with college rules.

Outside of the overthrow pick, Love was on:

When we see him stay on script like he did, it's thrilling to think of what our offense should be able to do. It's almost like nobody can stop us but ourselves.

Speaking of that, I only recall one offensive penalty yesterday. Satisfied with that!
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

If a child started 1st grade this fall, there is a very good chance they have never been alive for a Bears victory over the Packers.

Bears fans entering high school this year have only been alive long enough to witness it 4 times.

even selective amnesia didn't help control my anguish when I lived near Chicago in the 80's, that SB shuffle played 24/7 on every Chi-town radio for all of 1986 :bigcry:

I was teaching in the Chicago area in the 80’s. I made no secret to my students that I was a Packer fan. That Super Bowl shuffle was hard to listen to.

I just don't get Quay. Physical attributes coming out of his ass, he has everything. You tell me those qualities are what I get to mold a linebacker and I'm thinking I have it made more times than not. And I do think he's better than he gets credit for a lot, but his misses end up being huge it seems and very glaring.

Maybe this is it, but he just seems to hesitate and get caught thinking. Maybe he just has no instincts, which means, this is it. It's getting more difficult, but I am holding out hope he gets it, or maybe a move outside and it helps etc. Not sure, but we need better and he has the ability to be better.
You can't "mold" a linebacker, IMO. You need instincts to be good there and you either have that or you don't by the time you're drafted. Same with RB, you need vision to be good, and it's not really teachable.

I generally like that we draft great athletes and develop them. But there are a few positions where that needs to take a backseat to having enough "feel" for the position. LB is one of those positions.
The NFL is having a major issue with MLB talent because they aren't growing MLBs in college. With spread offenses, college teams are just putting fast guys in the middle and hoping for the best.

I was giving Jordan Love a lot of crap during the game yesterday, but in reality, if he didn't miss that one throw high, which completely changed the game, he would have had a great game.

Just can't miss throws like that.

One area that has been a challenge for the 2024 offense has been missing Musgrave for a big chunk of the season. MLF really likes to deploy 12 personnel and put 2 TEs out there - because the defense usually responds with a "heavier" package. And MLF preferred to throw vs their heavy package...

But you're not going to take a WR off the field as often for Ben Sims as you would with Musgrave.
I don't have the numbers handy, but I suspect GB has used less 12 personnel than they'd like and that has an impact on the foundation of this offense, both running and throwing. Then you add in the time Love missed/was injured and its been a stiff challenge to execute the preferred MLF offense

Yeah, it worked out but I'd feel a lot better about this play had Love simply hit a wide open Tucker Kraft in the mid-flat. Tucker's RAC skills would have likely had him ending up near the same ending spot...or better! It was a much easier and considerably less risky choice.

I wish we got the all 22 on this. I THINK, the safety was late coming down to Kraft, so sees the throw to Watson and bails on the coverage of Kraft making Kraft look more open than he was. He was still open for sure.

PFF chose to highlight an interesting thing: The Packers O was silly efficient (except for the red zone). Just 43 total plays, with whopping 19 of them resulting in a 1st down or TD. It's crazy to average 8.5 yards per play. Against a team with a good D.

Of course, one could have 600 yards on 30 plays and it wouldn't matter if one doesn't score. But is a REAL good sign for the future. Just gotta figure out how to improve in the red zone.

I don't particularly like this guy's videos, but here he makes two good observations: On Gary's sack, Clark getting doubled instead of him enabled the bull rush. And he was getting big time facemasked, which the officials of course missed. The Packers woulda declined the penalty, but it makes the sack even more bad ass.

whenI see him make plays like that, I wonder why we don't see more. I'm not suggesting he doesn't play hard, but he clearly has elite talent and often times I see him close maybe, but he should dominate and take over periods of games. he has the skills.

Wait I forgot to tell you guys my gameday story.

I was in an Annapolis bar and it was Ravens-Steelers week so that game was dominating the screen space. But they put Packers-Bears on one TV in the 4th quarter nowhere near my seat/friends. So I'd pop back and forth.

From the TD/missed 2-point on I was down there. Someone at the table by me not watching our game was talking to me and I explained that my team just missed a 2-point and now the Bears were about to beat us on a last second FG.

Some guy says "YEAH we are." He's from Chicago. I'm being light-hearted and say "my sister is a Bears fan. This is going to ruin Thanksgiving." He replied, "I don't give a F about your family. I'm here for the Bears win!" So it was gonna be like that. Another dude, unrelated, pops in. "We've lost ten straight. We're due."

Suddenly a beautiful woman yells "I LOVE THE PACKERS!"

The kick is up, it's BLOCKED

Hot girl jumps into my arms. We spin around and high five. F your family dude is speechless, jaw open. "We're due" guy mopes back to his table.

It's been a while as an out of ton fan that I've had that much fun with a Packers win.

WAIT I FORGET THE END
Later, I'm leaving. I discover that F your family guy and "I love the Packers" girl are a couple. HAHA
