The Green Bay Packers welcome the Miami Dolphins to Lambeau Field for a faceoff in prime time on Thanksgiving.

It is the second straight year that Green Bay has played on Thanksgiving, but only the second time at home on the holiday since 1923 (Chicago, 2015).
It is the first time the Packers have played on Thanksgiving in back-to-back years since they faced Detroit every year from 1951-63.
It marks the first Thursday meeting between the Packers and Dolphins.
It is just the seventh meeting between the two teams at Lambeau Field and the fourth this century (2002, 2010, 2018).
It will be the second prime-time game for the Packers this season and the first of four consecutive scheduled prime-time games, which would be the first time the Packers have played four straight prime-time games in a single season since the merger (Elias Sports Bureau).
Thursday will be the second of three games over a 12-day span for Green Bay as the Packers travel to Detroit to play the Lions next Thursday.
It is the Packers' first time playing on a Thursday in back-to-back weeks since 2015 (Weeks 12-13).
WITH THE CALL

NBC will broadcast the game as play-by-play man Mike Tirico joins analyst Jason Garrett in the booth with Melissa Stark reporting from the sidelines.

All Packers games can be heard on the Packers Radio Network, which is made up of 54 stations in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois and North and South Dakota. 97.3 The Game – WRNW-Milwaukee is in its third season as the flagship station of the Packers Radio Network. For a map and full listing of radio affiliates, go to packers.com/video/radio-network. Wayne Larrivee (play-by-play), two-time Packers Pro Bowler Larry McCarren (analyst), and three-time Packers Pro Bowler John Kuhn (sideline reporter) call the action. McCarren first joined the team's broadcasts in 1995 and enters his 30th season calling Packers games. After originally being paired together in 1999, McCarren and Larrivee enter their 26th season of broadcasts together. They surpassed Jim Irwin and Max McGee for the most regular-season and postseason games broadcast for the Packers with 313 at the 2018 season opener against Chicago.
The broadcast is also available on Sirius Satellite Radio on channel 82 or 225 or through the app (Packers Radio Network feed).
Westwood One will be broadcasting on radio to a national audience with Ryan Radtke (play-by-play) and Derek Rackley (analyst) on the call and Scott Graham hosting pregame and halftime shows.

Thanks for the GDT, greatly appreciated :aok:

Squish some fish, they're completely useless for a Thanksgiving feast

Here's yet another team that couldn't prosper without QB1...going 1-4 without Tua in 2024
HC Mike McDaniel comes from the Shanahan tree and is widely considered a high quality offensive mind, but couldn't get er done

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/ ... a/2024.htm

Here's the depth chart for the 'phins, in case you were wondering where Grant DuBose ended up (currently on IR)

https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/MIA

Miami offense is currently ranked 24th at 19.5 pts per game
Miami defense is currently ranked 11th at 21.5 pts/game and just behind GB

It's actually a great matchup. Their offense is pretty powerful with Tua in the lineup. They also have a lot of close losses to playoff teams the last month.

A whole another level of a game than vs the depleted 49ers. The Dolphins may be 5-6, but are not out of the playoff race yet. This one is no gimme, but I like our chances at home.

I watched the Dolphins' last game, and Tua was just dumping short to medium passes over the middle and NE just took it up the zone. I hope Hafley clogs the middle, maybe some robber action? If you make him a passer, and force those passes outside, you'll be in good shape.

If you're anticipating a pass rush resurgence this week, might want to temper your expectations.

That said, Tua loves his RB pass plays. It's why his completion percentage is so high. Challenge those easy throw options, make Tua hesitant, and those pass rushers may just get home.

Here's a little blurb on Tua from the 33rd Team- Packers are facing another run- around- extend- the- play QB

https://www.the33rdteam.com/2024-nfl-we ... in-top-5/

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
Skill Score: 9.20 | Production Score: 6.61 | Ranking Score: 7.91

This was the type of defense the Dolphins faced on Sunday:

Jonnu Smith looks like he's playing MOF safety

— Dan Pizzuta (@DanPizzuta) November 18, 2024

Still, Tua Tagovailoa still finished with the second-best EPA per play of the week (0.61) behind Goff.
This came in another game with Miami struggling to create explosives on the ground.

The passing game has come back alive with Tagovailoa’s return, and for the second week in a row, the quarterback showed off some extended play production. He was 4-for-4 for 2.70 EPA per play outside the pocket.

It will likely be another week of rush-to-contain from Hafley

In an unexpected twist, Dolphins LB Shaq Barrett has decided to end his retirement after mere 5 months, and will have to either go on their roster or get cut. This apparently took their coaches by surprise and we'll see what they do.

Veteran safety S Marcus Maye got released, but may return on their PS.

Packers have a couple of former Dolphins on the team

RB Chris Brooks started his career in Miami, but only got 19 carries in 2023 because of all the talent in front of him

And GB's LB Coach and Run Game Coordinator - Anthony Campanile was in Miami before Hafley snatched him up

Lack of coverage for easy throws was baffling against SF. With Allen in there why weren’t they taking that away consistently, especially on 3rd down? Really took X to make a great individual play on 4th down to finally knock one away. Tua is a bit of a different player as he will chuck it up to Hill and Waddle if the defense commits to the short pass.

This will probably be our toughest test all season next to the Lions. The Dolphins offense is just so fast an explosive. As for Tua getting all the short and easy plays I would expect the same in this one. You just can let Waddle and Hill beat you deep and with our CB situation I’m betting Hafley will give our outside guys so much help that the underneaths tuff it open. Tua loves to get the ball out quick so I would like to see a lot of disguise coverages but outside of that it’s going to be on our offense to keep up and not make mistakes.

Well how about a consistent pass rush for a change?

One of my son's is Dolphins fan (don't worry, he's out of the will!) We watch a lot of their games and I have never seen a team throw more sideways passes in my life. I bet 75% of Tua's throws are sideways, screens, checkdowns, etc. Our CBs are going to have to tackle well this week. Best way to slow speed is to hit them hard early especially in cold weather. Wouldn't surprise me to see one of our guys jump a screen and get a nice pick 6!

Legit nervous about this one but as a Tyreek Hill owner, this season has been a headscratcher. He hasn't had more than 80 yards in a game since Week 1. Really thought that would change when Tua came back. He's just not the same player this year. I feel like if we can limit some of their big plays, we'll be ok. Achane is the real deal though. Watch out for him.

Yeah, Tua uses a crapton of short passes and screens to set up a bomb. In last game, he rarely held the ball for more than 2.5 seconds, making pass rushing an exercise in futility. I fully expect a few dinky-dunky drives that will have me screaming "cover the quick pass!", as if that was easy.

But he's only mortal. Get him to a 3rd and long, and he'll take his share of sacks.
