IF the stat is the answer to, "Does LVN simply need more snaps to progress into a adequate and even good pass rusher?" then I think we are starting to see how that was a (another) good decision by Guty. Again, let's look at more data heading into December and then the playoffs.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

Now tied for 9th in scoring defense at 20 ppg.

Trending upward with a big challenge in Detroit next week.

There will be thousands (maybe even millions) prissed off Packers fans if the prissies fail to unpriss versus the pussycats on December 5th. :rotf:

from reddit/packers

"Since trading Preston Smith, the Packers’ unit of Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness, Kingsley Enagbare and Brenton Cox Jr. have combined for 29 total pressures and eight sacks across three games. Include Quay Walker and that jumps to 36 total pressures and nine sacks."

2024 Packers defense under Hafley is really making progress vs the run- GB is currently # 8 in the league in rushing yards allowed per game and the last 2 games have been even more impressive.

It seems like there has been some adjustment between containing and allowing more play by instinct, less robotic, players getting to the ball faster, and more wrapping versus bump tackles, this is what we hoped for, top 1/3rd in the league versus bottom, I am impressed, we get a couple bonafide CB's in next years draft and we could have a top 5 defense, switching to Hafley and buying a safety like McKinny has paid dividends, add in Williams, this safety tandem has to rank pretty high, really fun to watch :aok:

Let's get through the Lions game before we start ringing the bells on the defense too hard.

We have gone from Hafley is amazing, to fire Hafley, to now Hafley might be amazing again.

Let's just wait and see.

Nah, that's pretty much what a non-exciting CPA would advocate.
Me ? I'm an irrationally exuberant fan thoroughly enjoying the ride... and I'm going to celebrate every success.

We already played the Lions and the defense was definitely up to the task in the first match up.

Debby Downer is not a good look for you

Who did? It has not been the consensus opinion in my house. I bet I've said Hafley's schemes are a work in progress a dozen times. Containing the run has higher priorities than before, and Hafley has had success in that regard. Our coverage has been a bit inconsistent, partly due to Alexander being injured most of the season, and the drop-off in talent after him is pretty wide. We need to improve that position.

finding a balance between containment and unleashing a pass rush has taken time, hampered because we've faced so many RPO types at QB, it's been improving these last couple games, why shouldn't we expect that to continue? :idn:

That’s what I’m waiting for. I think the Lions offense is completely different when they have Jameson Williams out there. He’s a significantly better Christian Watson who helps open up their running game.

So, a question for the two of you: what defines a “bad” defensive performance against the Lions? What expectation do you have for a “good” performance against arguably the best offense in the league playing in their house?

Also, as noted, Williams is back and it appears their offense is fully healthy. The Packers may be playing without Jaire, one of their best defenders or, at best, he’ll be ailing. Does that factor in or are injuries only an excuse when Williams is out?

Side note: who here has suggested Hafley be fired? Did I miss it or is this just hyperbolic gas lighting?

A respectable showing against the Lions would also help our trending arrow increase in the upward trajectory! :woohoo:

Aaargh! And I was all-in on him coming out of college. The Gazelle, with amazing speed and agility supposedly perfect for a boundary CB.

But injuries hit him hard early, and he never developed the instincts to get those INTs or PDs. Now, he can run with any WR, and that can take a route away, but he simply makes no plays on the ball.

To this day Ill never understand that Stokes pick. I said it the day he was drafted. He wasnt the best CB on the board, he wasnt even the best CB available on his own collegiate team.

I think 2025 will be the ole draft 3 CBs and see which one hits strategy.

Surprisingly Nixon isn't terrible on tbe outside vs certain types of WRs. So that has been a decent surprise
