They need that jackass Jim Schwartz back at head coach for me to really dislike them.go pak go wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024 20:13How many years of the Lions being our thorn will it take before we start really not liking them?
It seems like we grew hate for the Seahawks and 49ers faster than we have for Detroit.
The Lions are 10-6 vs the Packers in the last 8 years. They will also likely have two Division titles and the Packers will have 3 Division titles in the same time frame.

That guy did less with more all because of his prepubescent bush league mentality
That's a good point. Playoff elimination is probably the fastest way to hate a team which is why SEA and SF hit that list so fast.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024 20:18They only really eliminated us once in recent memory which was Rodgers last game. Right now I’d just say they’re annoying because I had met a handful of Lions fans my entire life before 2 years ago.
Honestly, every time they start winning and become relevant, I quickly realize why God subjected them to 0-16 and numerous losing seasons. They are obnoxious winners. So no, I am not into the Cinderella story, lovable losers, "how can you hate the Lions?!"-nonsense. MIN and CHI are both still worse in my eyes, but I never "feel happy for" DET when they start winning. They all belong under our heels.

Campbells what like 5-2 vs the packers?
if you still say "awe lovable lions" after they bully ball us up and down the field then you need to update your reality.

I remembered being in absolute love and super jealous of the 2021 Lions Draft haul.
Unfortunately it ended up being a really, really good draft for them.

What?????? The Lions are no worse than some of the winningest teams Fans, ours included, you're just upset because they have done well against us lately.Labrev wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024 08:48Honestly, every time they start winning and become relevant, I quickly realize why God subjected them to 0-16 and numerous losing seasons. I was around and went to games back in the 70's and 80's, anytime we won (which was a rarety, but never as bad as Detroit) our fans went berserk, I remember Packer fans starting fights plenty in Chicago as well as detroit after games, IMO obnoxious seems almost normal with teams finally getting better, and even for some teams who have been a long time, how about Philly, or the Seahawks.
personally if we can't go, then I want Detroit too, Personally, I think Detroit has done a great job, they play physical hard nosed football, on the edge of legal at times, but if that was us no one here would complain
A lot of people here sneered at their 2023 draft class. A RB and a LB???? Jack Campbell has been meh so far but Gibbs is a GD weapon.
Then you add in LaPorta and Branch... they didn't take the premium positions, yet I don't think they're feeling too bad about what they got.

agree, Laporta was said to be best of that class at TE, same with Branch at safety, they've done well since changing coach and GM.Labrev wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024 11:03A lot of people here sneered at their 2023 draft class. A RB and a LB???? Jack Campbell has been meh so far but Gibbs is a GD weapon.

I have a bunch of Detroit fans as I'am living in the state, some relation, and they supported that team through all these losing seasons, guess I have a soft spot for them

Campbell is getting there. I don't dig on his dirty ways and there's a bit too much Suh in detroit for my tastes
I would describe his coaching/leadership this way:
You train and plan for a professional arm wrestling match - a test of brute strength & flawless technique
But your opponent punches in you in the face first...and then says "OK, let's wrestle"
You can fine em, dock them points, throw a penalty flag on their illegal behavior - but at the end of the day you still got punched in the face and knocked off your game.

Sounds like a player I want on our defense.BSA wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024 15:48Campbell is getting there. I don't dig on his dirty ways and there's a bit too much Suh in detroit for my tastes

Defintely interested in getting higher RAS scores (Relative A$$hole Score) on our defense. You need a couple.
I'm really happy to see you come around with these types of views. For some reason I remember you being part of the goodie two shoes pack, years ago. But respect to you now because I can get on board with takes like this one. Glad to see you're getting mean like me.go pak go wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024 16:05Sounds like a player I want on our defense.BSA wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024 15:48Campbell is getting there. I am sick of getting beat up by the more physical teams every January.
I want us to be the more physical team.
Frankly I think we are trending that way. We are a lot more physical than the Rodgers Packers. I love our safeties. I think our big boys are tough too. Even like our ILBs by and large. Jury is out on our edge. I hate Stokes. Neutral on Nixon as an outside corner or slow slot corners.
Don't know what to think about Ja. Valentine is an A$$. Just don't know how good he actually is.
If I could guarantee a win...sure. give me the good guy. But I've seen what the good guys bring for 14 years....a loss in the divisional or conference championship round.
I like physical, but also clean play, cheap shots with the intent to hurt an opponent have no place in the game IMO, and the fines handed out for it doesn't even come close to deterring that garbage, that needs to increase dramatically, as well as suspensions, the 3 fines first prior to suspension expose that Z should have been penalized 3 or 4 times Thursday for head slaps, hands to the face, and facemaskgo pak go wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024 18:58You have to look at the data and see what works and what doesn't.Papa John wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024 17:22I'm really happy to see you come around with these types of views. looks like we'll have some UFA money to spend this year, IMO we should go after a couple CB's that have been consistently better than those we've had the last couple of years, Alexander while very good when healthy, seems to rarely be, he's missed so much time he's undependable.

Seattle beat us only once in the postseason in recent history, IIRC. The beef was Seattle was, IMO, because they were awarded wins in games that they shouldn't have won against us. It all started with the Fail Mary game and Russell Wilson's shameless postgame interview on the field. Regular season game, but sickening to the point that they immediately became so hateable.go pak go wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024 08:29That's a good point. SF, on the other hand, was a bona-fide big brother. Reliably, they would beat us down and rub our face into the dirt every time we faced them in the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers was 0-3 against them in the postseason. And what made it frustrating, for me, was that SF never actually won a Super Bowl. They always beat us, but there also was always some other team that came in and gave them the boot. We were SF's bitch, basically.
