The Green Bay Packers travel east to take on the Philadephia Eagles in the Wild Card Playoff.

It is a rematch of the season opener that saw the Packers and Eagles play in Brazil. It is the sixth time (2002, Atlanta Falcons / 2010, Philadelphia / 2012 and 2013, San Francisco 49ers / 2014, Seattle Seahawks) that Green Bay will face the team they opened the regular season against in the playoffs.
This will be the fourth postseason meeting between Green Bay and Philadelphia, with the Eagles holding a 2-1 (.667) advantage (1960, 2003, 2010). The previous three postseason matchups were all played in Philadelphia and decided by four points, three points (OT) and five points.
The Packers lead the regular-season series 27-17 (.614).
This will be just the second time that the Packers have faced a team in the playoffs that won 14-plus games in the regular season (2001 St. Louis Rams went 14-2).
Per the Elias Sports Bureau, the Packers are the second-youngest team (25.72) by weighted age to make the playoffs over the last 45 seasons (1980-2024), behind the 2023 Packers (25.58).
The Packers have won their last three Wild Card road games (Philadelphia in 2010, Washington in 2015 and Dallas in 2023), tied with the Ravens for the longest road Wild Card streak over that span.
The Packers are 11-5 (.688) in the Wild Card Playoffs, including a 4-2 (.667) mark on the road.
S Xavier McKinney has played against the Eagles six times (including the postseason), posting 42 tackles (24 solo), seven passes defensed, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and four interceptions, including three in the last two games he has played against Philadelphia.
LB Rashan Gary has recorded 2.5 sacks, two tackles for a loss and four QB hits in his last two games against the Eagles.
RB Josh Jacobs has 27 touches for 172 yards (6.4 avg.) with a rushing TD in two games against Philadelphia.
WR Jayden Reed hauled in four passes for 138 yards (34.5 avg.) and a TD in the Week 1 game against the Eagles, including a career-long 70-yard TD catch.
WITH THE CALL

FOX Sports, now in its 31st season as an NFL network television partner, will broadcast the game.

Play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt joins analyst Tom Brady and sideline reporters Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi.
All Packers games can be heard on the Packers Radio Network, which is made up of 54 stations in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois and North and South Dakota. 97.3 The Game – WRNW-Milwaukee is in its third season as the flagship station of the Packers Radio Network. For a map and full listing of radio affiliates, go to packers.com/video/radio-network. Wayne Larrivee (play-by-play), two-time Packers Pro Bowler Larry McCarren (analyst), and three-time Packers Pro Bowler John Kuhn (sideline reporter) call the action. McCarren first joined the team's broadcasts in 1995 and enters his 30th season calling Packers games. After originally being paired together in 1999, McCarren and Larrivee enter their 26th season of broadcasts together. They surpassed Jim Irwin and Max McGee for the most regular-season and postseason games broadcast for the Packers with 313 at the 2018 season opener against Chicago.
The broadcast is also available on Sirius Satellite Radio on channel 82 or 226 or through the app (Packers Radio Network feed).
Westwood One will be broadcasting on radio to a national audience with Tom McCarthy (play-by-play), Ross Tucker (analyst) and Amber Theoharis (sideline) on the call and Scott Graham hosting pregame and halftime shows.

$%@# the naysayers.

Packers cruise in this one. Final score is closer than the actual game play.

Packers - 33
Eagles - 24

Put that in your boo-hoo-this-team-makes-too-many-mistakes pipe and smoke it.

My mind as I was reading the temp forecast - "ooh. 39 degrees. Gonna be warm for the players"

What the news team said - "39 degrees. Cold for the birds"

I guess perspective matters.

I think the Packers play better than against da Bares. But Philly is too good and a much better team at this point unless something freaky happens. I think not having the threat of Watson will be a huge advantage for the Eagles defensive backfield.

At least with the Watson injury out of the way, the Packers can devise an attack without him rather than an in-game adjustment post-injury like last week. Pretty challenging to change everything up on the spot when your plan goes to crap because of injury.

My guess is we're gonna see a lot of 12/22 personnel groupings running Jacobs down their throat along with a play-action passing game featuring the TEs. With Kraft and a now healthy Musgrave, there's a lot to exploit and not much of it on tape to be prepared for. That also negates the WR issues if MLF takes the pressure off them to perform. Don't make them the centerpiece of the gameplan, make them complimentary. Keep the Philly defense honest with occasional shots downfield but make the plan a grind-it-out type attack.

On defense, we're hopefully getting at least one of the safeties Williams/Anderson back (hopefully both) along with Quay at LB. That should be a significant upgrade to a unit already playing well. Limit Barkley and make the still recovering and rusty Hurts beat you.

This game is certainly winnable. Take the WR mistakes out of the gameplan from the outset and have MLF call a clean game and we'll all be celebrating come Sunday night. :aok:

My largest concern: our outside CBs are finally going to get tested. I am really curious how they hold up.

My largest hope: Luke Musgrave and Malik Heath will likely get integrated in the offense more this week. Heath simply shows up every time he has an opportunity and Musgrave may have a shot at opening up the middle of the field which frankly we have gotten away from lately.

Should be a great game. Hurts might be rusty. It will be interesting to see what is schemed up to get Jacob’s going against their stout DT. Melton is as fast as Watson, would like to see him sent on some deep shots. Go Pack!

I am kinda feeling the upset here. Philly is the better team on-paper, they *should* win this, but I think we present the types of problems for them that lead to an upset.

Philly likes to throw to the perimeter. Our safeties can clamp down on that and help out the WRs; it sounds like Oladapo can hold his own in that SS role. Walker and Cooper give you athleticism inside to blitz, cover the middle, or spy on Hurts, cover Saquon. I could see this defense really frustrating that offense. If we can get anything from our DL, all the better (but they have been Mid and the Eagles have a strong OL, so I am not overly optimistic about this).

On offense, we need to do what has worked for us, which is ride #8 to victory, dump the ball off to Kraft early and often, and get enough out of our WRs. I think that you can utilize Musgrave in a manner similar to Watson in our offense. He will have to make plays if the defense does not respect him, or if they do, we will need to capitalize by getting the ball to the guy who takes advantage of that.

Dunno, I'm kinda in the same place as last season: house money, pretty low expectations, just glad they are in it and able to get playoff experience. But ya never know. I didn't think they'd get far in the 2010 playoffs, either.

My prediction is that the Packers show way better football than they have the last two weeks and really give the Eagles a scare, but they succumb to a last minute Field Goal and we're left with a "we lost but proud of the effort" feeling:

Eagles: 27
Packers: 24

This is the first time in a long time where we are playing large WRs who like to attack the outside (perimeter) of the field. (outside maybe Seattle)

DET, MIA, MN, CHI all like to attack the middle of the field which is why guys like Stokes hasn't even be thrown at. We did pass the test vs Seattle. Valentine had a fantastic game.

AJ Brown will be a test for sure.

I think CB1 and 2 are competent, and Bullard in the slot is adequate. The problem is if they have to cover those WRs for more than 2.0 seconds. The issue is less the CBs and more the pass-rush (or lack thereof). Our DL is decent, but not good enough to beat an OL that good with regularity.

They will need to find creative ways to get pressure. At least having Quay and Cooper will be hugely helpful for that.

I think we'll see a lot of 5th rushers in this game, clark and Company clearing gaps for Cooper or Walker to stunt untouched IMHO is our way to succeed, use press man, sure we'll lose a few of those matchups, but tight coverage will force the QB to go to 2nd and 3rd reads, time for our pass rush to get to him.

we've had pretty good initial coverage IMO, it's when a QB gets more time is when our coverage breaks down. :idn:

Yeah MN's production almost overwhelmingly came over the middle of the field.

Packers cruise in this one. Final score is closer than the actual game play.

Packers - 33
Eagles - 24

Put that in your boo-hoo-this-team-makes-too-many-mistakes pipe and smoke it.
Wonder how it would go over if a different poster decided to open with a sentence like "$%@# all these homers and their toxic positivity." Seems there always is a need to "expose" the "other side," and, more often than not, it isn't initiated by us "bad guys." As evidenced by this post.
