Here's something I've never experienced before: Fireworks and northern lights at the same time (tho not visible with my crappy camera in same direction due the smoke and city lights).

BTW, what's the flat earthers' take on what the northern and southern lights are, and how they can span from horizon to horizon only to disappear behind it despite being like 60-80 miles high?

Happy New Year!

awesome fire works, and love your pic's  of the Aurora's, I use to get out up here to watch em years back, one year at Whitefish Point camping was the best I've ever seen, ya need that type of darkness, around where I live, even as rural as it is, city lights distort the view.

always thought the Aurora's where the result of solar burst, but have never actually studied the subject :aok:

Ya, the auroras are basically energetic particles of solar wind getting channeled towards the poles by the Earth's magnetic field, and when they hit particles in the upper atmosphere, they release energy in the way of glowing light.

The strength of the solar wind varies, and is indeed at the strongest after a solar burst. At and above the Arctic Circle you can sometimes see them even without such a burst, especially in total darkness on a clear night. But when a burst happens, it can be a real show, here even visible in the city, and also much more South (there's even historic accounts from the Mediterranean of super rare occurrences).

You are real lucky to have seen them!

And then when you are the last one out the door, you are the reason you're late.

Yep. Every once in a while we manage the clock like the Bears on Thanksgiving and somehow we are the assholes.

I think it's safe to say the Bud Lite marketing folks have seen the light as far as staying focused on their key market targets.

it's like sanity is washing over the land. Reminds me of a movie where black and gray turns to color. Frozen to spring and warmth, evil loses it's grip and good returns to the people. I love it.

I get it, Wally. You’ll never forgive Bud Lite. They are forever tainted in your eyes and you’d just as soon see one of the great American brands go bankrupt than to see them pivot from an admittedly failed marketing strategy, back to on-brand advertising.

Burn, baby, burn!!
