From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Bunch of responses directed at me. Don't have time to address them individually. So I will just say, APB, 23 (and anyone else). If I didn't think we were so close, I wouldn't give a &%$@. That's the part that is so maddening. I believe that we have a framework for success in place. Matt LaFleur has worked day and night to implement a dynamic offensive system, and he hired a new DC who, so far, has demonstrated himself to be competent enough (which is saying a lot for this organization). And it could very well be all for naught due to continued discipline-related issues that plague this team. It's like an ultra-imaginative writer who can never get a book published because he doesn't take the time to use proper punctuation. Slightly flawed analogy, but you get the point. Why would you allow a lapse in the basics to ruin what you've worked so hard to create?
The point I am apparently failing to make is that I just don’t understand why some fans choose to poison their own fandom while the season is still alive and potentially for the taking. Sure, it’s not the way we wanted to roll into the playoffs BUT WE’RE STILL ROLLING INTO THE PLAYOFFS!
You sound as if you’re so disgusted with the team’s recent performance that you can’t wait for it to be over. Maybe I’m completely misreading things but that’s the sense I’m getting.
Relax.
There will be time to dissect the coaching and player shortcomings in the coming weeks. For now, just appreciate another weekend of Packer football, warts and all.
I try to live with what I find to be a fair balance of in the now and eyes to the future. Yes I am happy to still have a chance. and yes, I'm pretty disappointed in the past 2 weeks to say the least. Confidence is not high for me and usually it is.
They need to flip some switches. They're young, they have talent, they can do it. Someday they will. But much like my kids, when given opportunity after opportunity to show growth they're still young kids and don't LOL. It's maddening
I do believe we have a decent shot at Philly, hurts is still a ? and hasn't played in a while. Rust is real. If Williams is back and healthy and Quay is back and healthy and we can keep Jordan playing with a little urgency that has him slinging darts instead of this i'm so calm I barely breath on the field persona that floats or tosses inaccurate passes in bad places too many times a game we'll win.
But I can't ignore that we just let a 10 game losing skid team drive down and beat us when every chip was in our favor at home and we were in that position because of the same stuff we've been doing all year.

It goes beyond this for me. Remember 2021? We did everything right in the regular season. What happened in the playoffs? It just cannot be overstated how little that stinker of a Bears game or even the Vikings game will have on what happens on Sunday against the Eagles. If anything, that chip on their shoulders and the national and fanbase doubt might help them start loose and fast. It's all anecdotal, but even going back a few decades, the Packers have performed better as heavy dogs in the playoffs than they have as heavy favorites. Regardless, I don't think there are patterns or anything to point to that is a magic fix. I think Wednesday through Saturday will prepare us to have a chance on Sunday. As we all know, from there, it's a million variables, but plenty of avenues of the Packers to come away with a win.

Who said we did everything right in the regular season? We sucked on STs the whole year and guess what happened in the playoffs? Oh thats right we sucked at STs yet again because thats what we were all season. A &%$@ show on STs.
This year we turn the ball over, we commit some of the dumbest penalties Ive ever seen, we make some really dumb challenges, and now we cant even manage the clock on offense or defense.
It starts with the HC. Set the standard of excellence. What I saw on Sunday was sloppiness on the field and on the sideline. Idk how you walk into a locker room after a game and preach ball security and attention to detail when you dont even know when to use your TOs or how to defend against a team outside of FG range with time winding down.

These guys hate to be told the truth about their favorite team
“You just have to play a different call,” LaFleur said. “I have no problem playing the outside leverage. You just need a robber or a low-hold player at the line of gain. Because they’re trying, they were running, they put a bunch into the boundary – or a trips into the boundary – and they were trying to get the ball out of bounds if you allow them to. That’s why you play severe outside leverage. CV is playing outside leverage.
“We had three guys deep – I mean, too deep – where they get an 18-yard gain right there and are able to clock the ball.”
The error came directly from defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, who calls the Packers defense. LaFleur ultimately accepted the blame himself.
“Obviously, can’t be in that call in that situation,” LaFleur said. “There’s a cut-off time for that. Usually for us, it’s 12 seconds is the cut off. There were 15 seconds. Where the breakdown in communication occurred was, if you stop them short of the line to gain, they can’t clock the ball. It’s fourth down. So you’re not going to get another play.
Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."

again, that defensive scheme is the preferred plan of most coaches, the execution of it as Lafleur said is what was wrong, also HC talk to cords during games, and create plans for certain situations should they happen, I'am not sure what your goal is here, to prove me wrong by avoiding realities that happen during games.

Not everything is about you, you narcissist... It's a relevant explanation about a play in the Bears game. You are wrong, BTW. Matt Lafleur even said so.

you brought it pursuant to our conversation, and everyone is wrong that you disagree with

Fair enough. Definitely didn't do everything right, but we won games and won close games led by an offense that was QB'd by a recently crowned 4-time NFL MVP. That offense put up 10 points in the playoffs.

We did win games.
But there is a difference between smacking around the bears in the regular season and winning playoff games. I always see problems and think of “will this cost us with there is no margin for error against a good team in the playoffs?” The answer that year with the STs was always obvious.
