Who will be our #1 WR

Not having a guy like Driver in the WR room is really hurting this group. They have noone to learn from, to talk with, to follow, except coaches. That is a big part of why they have regressed this year.
I think there could be something to this argument for sure.
Adams makes the most sense if money weren't involved. But his base pay is in the $30's Millions. Absolutely not.
It appears Adams won't stay in NY if Rodgers leaves/ retires. Will any team pay a WR over 30 $30 million plus?

LaCoach's game prep skills are inconsistent as McCoach's were. Only one SB for McCoach and zero so far for LaLaCoach. As stated previously, I'm willing to give LaLaCoach 2 more years and that's it. End of para-freakin-effen-graph!Yoop wrote: ↑01 Jan 2025 05:50I'am tired of the excuses, we start games as though we are in a comatose state, Love missing open receivers, wont take checkdowns, receivers dropping passes, then some blogger says Lafleur has our guys running zone routes when they should have been running man routes, no sale, it's all a bunch of convoluted insanity to defend the ineptitude we see so much of this year, I hate the excuses.RingoCStarrQB wrote: ↑31 Dec 2024 15:35That's a no-brainer. Who is the more credible source on what MLF was expecting and game planned for Flores to do?
Matt LeFluer or Yoop?
Clearly you can't take what Matt LeFluer said in his own press conference the day after the game. You need to trust yoop's shoddy memory of what he thought he heard 5 days ago.
Likely not. But I don't want to pay a WR even half that.Pugger wrote: ↑01 Jan 2025 13:23It appears Adams won't stay in NY if Rodgers leaves/ retires. Will any team pay a WR over 30 $30 million plus?

Assuming Watson tore his ACL, he won’t be ready for the start of the season.
Definitely an interesting scenario heading closer to the offseason this year. Going into the season, the thought was that this WR corps would all progress to the point where more than 1 guy would be thought of as a legit #1. Now, I’m not sure any of these guys are even legit #2’s.
I think along with potentially CB, this is the biggest need going into the 2025. The FA’s that are with a darn will be really expensive so we’re probably going to have to address it in the draft or a trade.

I think it possible this young WR group got caught up in reading their own press clippings after a promising first year playing with Love and, like many of us fans, just assumed the second year would build on the first. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that. Work needs to be done.
I am hopeful these young players now realize that nothing is handed to them in this league and everything is earned. If they’re to achieve stardom and accolades, they need to put in the work.
It’s coming time they read those same press reports this off-season and realize there is still work to be done. I won’t write these guys off just yet but I’m also not going to just assume we’re set at the position.

Doubs: not a special athlete, also sounds like he is a bit mentally fragile.
Reed: more of a complementary piece and gadget slot guy ala Deebo, not a #1.
Watson: ACL tear (if that's the injury) in Year 3 is terrible for his development, probably looking at a 1 year prove-it deal after next season.
I guess we gotta cross our fingers for Wicks to complete the Tae Adams arc by taking WR1 by the horns next year, but we probably should hedge our bets and pick a WR with #1 upside at some point in the draft next year.

I'm for sure most disappointed in Wicks and Reed this year. I figured Doubs would continue to be a good complimentary piece (which he was) and that Watson would be who he is. It's a shame that he just can't stay healthy.Labrev wrote: ↑06 Jan 2025 09:33Doubs: not a special athlete, also sounds like he is a bit mentally fragile.

But I really thought Wicks and Reed were going to both elevate this year and come playoff time, be a feared duo with the former two I mentioned filling in strong complimentary roles.
I know our Offense is a bit different this year because Jacobs has been great, but yikes. Probably about the worst possible scenario happened with our WR corps compared to what was expected.
I'm also not dismissing that fact that some of this could be on Love. I haven't been all that impressed with him this year other than occasional flashes of greatness.
after comments from Lafleur that we didn't expect minny to use so much man, after our receiver situation dictated they most likely would, (no field stretcher) my biggest disappointment is our WR coaches, plus our short passing schemes are putrid, draft a top tier WR and buy a new receivers coach

In Gutenbumst time as GM he has drafted:
Jmon Moore
MVS
ESB
Amari Rodgers
Christian Watson
Romeo Doubs
Samouri Toure
Jayden Reed
Dontayvion Wicks
Grant Dubose
10 WRs with 5 talent busts, 1 injury bust, and 4 fine players. None of them are even close to a #1. I think it can be strongly argued only Jayden Reed is a good #2. That is a massive failure at GM. Granted there aren’t many picks in the top few rounds someone needs to hit here.
When you looked at WRs we missed on compared to the resources invested it’s even worse.

It's the Jace Sternberger over Terry McLauren.
I still maintane by and large the Packers would be an amazing drafting team if they followed their gut and process round 2 and beyond but went with the Draft Industrial Complex consensus with the first pick.
