I find it a little odd, given the success of these two franchises, that these two teams have not met in the playoffs since 2010.

Since that game the Packers have played:

Bears
Vikings
49ers
Cardinals
Seahawks
Rams
Cowboys
Giants
Redskins/Commanders
Falcons
Buccaneers

That leaves only the Lions (1994), Panthers (1996), and Saints (never) as teams we have met less recently in the playoffs.

After watching that fabulous Tramon Williams game winning pick, give a listen to John Gruden as he explains how we can kick philly in the junk Sunday, like John or not, he's a smart football mind. :aok:

Positionally, I dont really see many places we have an advantage. I think TE and S we are better. I think cases can be made that QB, RB, and maybe ILB are pushes. I think there are large talent gaps at WR, OL, DL, and CB. On top of that they are the home team. If I was putting money on this game straight up theres no shot it would go on the Packers.

They will need to elevate their level of play and the coaches will need to scheme their asses off. Ultimately I believe the players on the field at the NFL level determines the games 9/10. They need to show they arent such a mistake prone team. Don't commit dumb penalties and for $%@# sake stop fumbling the ball and I think the opportunity will be there to win this game.

Gruden was a good coach. The league screwed him over because they still have a vendetta against the Raiders. He was turning that team around.

nahhhhhhhhh, no sale Papa :nono: , while Jon was a great coach, he also lashed out at the wrong people, and it didn't seem to have anything to do with the Raiders

Pretty funny how earlier this year the talking heads said the Eagles were a mess and should fire Sirianni. Now they're the most talented team in football!

One guy says we shouldn't run up the middle on Philly and need to pass to the outside. Another says we should ride Jacobs all day.

Going to be fun to see what MLF decides. Hoping we see an accurate Love tomorrow.

I would hope to see Brenton Cox have a real coming out game this week. He is on the rise. And if his health allows, he is one guy who can actually outmuscle the Eagles OLine AND win with speed.

Between him and Coop, plus Gary and even LVN, I have hopes we keep pressure on the QB.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

Cox could be an important piece. Not sure what LVN has to do with anything?

Didn't seem to have anything to do with the Raiders other than....... him being coach of the Raiders? :thwap:

Agreed

With Hurts running ability, the Packers DL has to maintain gap control or he leaks out for a big gain. That makes it much harder to pressure the QB - so the strategery might be to force Hurts to be a pocket passer. He hasn't played much football over the last few weeks, so rust is a real possibility early on. Pressure would be welcomed, but I also know its tough to do vs a runner like him

Back in September, GB got him for 2 sacks and 5 QB hits; probably gonna need more than that on Sunday

Warren Sharp's Game preview here:

https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/f ... ibar-2024/

Sharp's comments on pressure:

Where Green Bay had success was getting pressure on Hurts.
Under pressure, Hurts was 4-of-13 for 3.8 Y/A with an interception.
That is something that remained static for the rest of the season.

No quarterback was pressured at a higher rate this season than Hurts (40.5% of dropbacks).
Some of that is his own doing since he had the longest time to throw in the NFL this season (3.06 seconds from the snap).

18.8% of his pressures were credited to him holding the ball, which was 35th in the league.
But when pressured, Hurts only completed 46.5% of his passes (20th) for 5.2 Y/A (29th).

If the Packers succeed, it will be by getting to Hurts, who has not played since Dec. 22.

Cox is injured and may not play.
