From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Did this board ever see so much optimism and enthusiasm looking forward? It's almost scary.
Too high on the ups, too low on the down.
Just wait till we only score 10 points in the 2nd half next week and let Chicago get back into the game and we only win by 4.
It will likely be time to fire Pettine.
All it takes to find some cautious optimism (SB hopes even ) is to be the no 1 seed, with a top-of-the-league offense and top half D... We ain't easy to please :D
I'm usually a "just get into the playoffs, then you have a chance" -kinda guy, but I won't knock the importance of a bye. Every playoff game is a chance for the underdog to have an Any Given Sunday -game, so the less one-and-done games you play, the better your chances.
I'm giddy with being in this position with the chance to secure a bye by knocking out da Bears, who still suck :D
Just wait, we'll be pretenders again if we lose to Chicago this week...
In short: a trap game there.
Wait. Wasn't the Panthers a trap game and wasn't the Titans a game we should have "rested and tested"?
Can we just stop labeling these games as fans and just treat them all important?
This Sunday is a huge, huge game. It is against a division rival for the chance to get a playoff win. This is absolutely a playoff game. The only exception is we get a 2nd chance Wildcard weekend if we lose. But we win our wildcard weekend if we win.
there are no excuses for us to lose to Chicago, we should never take a division rival lightly, just because losing wont knock us out of the playoffs it will be a road block to continue our momentum, play to win, start to finish, you can bet Chicago will.

Barnes is turning this unit into something special

It will be a great test to match their intensity. They are in a "win and in" scenario, so you can best bet they will swing hard right out the gates. Better counter early and break their spirits.

I mean this is a playoff game period. We have just as much to play for as they do.
In the playoffs, both teams are playing hard and have everything to play for. This is our Wildcard weekend. The only difference is we are not eliminated if we lose, but this is still effectively our wildcard weekend.
It is a huge game. It is a great opponent and it is once again a playoff game. Just like the Titans. Honestly TN had way more to play for than we did but it was still a big test for us and they passed with flying colors.
The Bears are just good though since Truby has come back.
Since Truby has come back, the Bears have put up 25, 30, 36, 33 and 41 points. We are the team that held them to 25 points. David Montgomery and Truby are playing really well.

That's a great way to think about it.
Winning this would equal one playoff game win. We sort of get two chances at a wildcard win, tho this one also gets us home field.
Also, a tasty, tasty chance to remind da Bears that they still suck by knocking them out, and to add to the all-time rivalry lead.

the last 4 were against the 32nd, 26th, 28th and 31st ranked defenses playing out the string of their lost seasons.
Bears offense has improved, but they've done so against exceptionally crappy defenses. Zimmer said its the worst defense he's ever had

Was going to comment on that too. And that 25 points was against us, with 15 of this coming in garbage 4th quarter time.
Albeit, impressive streak no matter who you play, they scored more against Jacksonville, Minnesota and Houston than we did and only 1 less against Detroit than us.
So they are playing much better on offense, although the whole picture needs to be looked at.
Bigger story to me is that D. They are only 3-2 in that stretch and that D has given up 27 or more 3 times there. And that isn’t exactly the who’s who of offense, outside of us of course.
Man, this is like all exactly what we wanted this time of year.
Finding ways to win, get the bye and home playoff game, right in reach.
Defense start putting it together. They’ve had some really good parts the past few months, finally starting to put together complete games. All in stats, points, turnovers, results. This d has been above average the past month, if not good. Getting better at the right time.
Start getting the running game and particularly AJ Dillon going down the stretch.
I mean we lost to SF last year because of their D and run game. If we have a D and a run game and MVP freaking Aaron Rodgers, my Gawd. Let’s $%@# go!!

Keep your eyes on Cole Kmet, the Bears are starting to work him into they're offense.
As for this being a playoff game, damn right it is. For the past few weeks we've heard how important it is to have home field advantage. Well, here it is, win and it's yours. At this time of the season, If it was possible to win a game by 1/2 point, I'd take it.

Really. I'm sure the guys would love nothing more than to make it more difficult for the bares to get into the playoffs.

haha, it's a love/hate relationship, mostly the later
like Favre when he went to the vikings, even the over the hill Jim McMahon was called a traitor by a bunch of Bears fans for signing with us.
I don't think most of the players really care about Bears/Packerd rivalry. Most of them have no real comnection to it outside of players who have been here a long time.
MLF also doesn't hype the rivalry like MM did or Lovie Smith did.
But this game has huge meaning for us and that should be enough.
Anyone hear any word or rumor on the Wagner injury?
Directly from LaFleur word was it wasn't bad. Don't know his status for Chicago, but it sounds more likely he'll be able to go than have to be placed on IR. Probably won't have a real good idea until tomorrow or even Thurday, but sounded like pretty 50-50. Coach was optimistic.

Just as long as he's 100% for the January 16th Cowboy game, works for me.
