OK, Bob.

Seems strange and out of nowhere; don't know much about the guy. It's weird that the Eagles' OC went to become the HC in Indy, and then the OC he hired goes on to become the HC in Philly. Hoping to get that Frank Reich - Carson Wentz magic back?

Put me down as a Campbell skeptic. I don't think those types of coaches work anymore. Best case, he attracts some talented coordinators that run things well for a while, but what then? Head coach vacancies open every year in search of precisely those people.
Yep. I opened this thread just so I could say the same thing. I just watched a clip of his interview. Not sure of his IQ. I was just remarking the other day how Mike Singletary was the last of the purely rah-rah coaches, and after that blew up horribly it's been all coaches with at least some smarts (not to say they're smart or that Campbell is dumb, just that most coaches now at least have some cerebral component to them).

Matt Rhule's opening press conference was about as motivational as they come, but I can tell you that he also knows his X's and O's, it's just that he is the son of a preacher so that type of talk comes naturally to him. Campbell on the other hand seems to just have made pregame huddle hype his entire M.O. Could work out for them, but I'll go into it being skeptical.

I wonder if maybe the Lions see the success of Mike Vrabel and were going for that.

Gotta say, I was not real impressed with his Titans team when we played them. It's not that we blew them out, they just made a number of errors that indicated poor coaching (e.g. opening with a kick that went out-of-bounds) and his no challenge on a long run where Jones stepped out of bounds, just that I can remember from weeks ago. It will be interesting to see if he can keep it up after losing another talented OC.

Yeah they know they are stuck with Wentz so they are looking for anybody who might have an insight or a tie to somebody who was successful with him. By the time they can unload Wentz they can also dump the coach if it all stays south.

Aaron Glenn is the new DC. Looks like a good pick unfortunately. Ran NO secondary for the last 6 years.
The Lions are coming out of running the Matt Particia version of the same base Parcells defense. Glenn’s experiences in New Orleans have proven he’s evolved into someone who emphasizes playmaking and risk-taking, at least with the secondary. That should be a welcome change from Detroit’s passive, reactive scheme the last few years.

Heard it yesterday when I wasn't paying attention. Literally had to turn around and look at the TV. It was so bad.

Yeah, whoof. That hire would never have worked for us; Rodgers wouldn't latch onto anyone who he believes himself to be smarter than (one of his rumored issues with MM was that at some point Rodgers surpassed him in football IQ)

But Glenn should be a good DC. Do we know who the OC is yet?

Lions fans seem to love the press conference.

They're so used to hires like this that they're walking shells of their former selves, easy to appease with no questions asked.
