We gotta do more than $12 million.

My guess is we will bring back Mercedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan and also try and bring back Boyle, Lazard.

I mean we are looking at least at $8 million right there just for these guys.

Should bring back Lewis as a coach. Won't need him unless Tonyan and Deguara both get hurt.
Lazard is an Exclusive Rights FA. He is not going to cost much more than last year and he is going nowhere. You don't refuse to pay league minimum to a starter.
Cannot lose Tonyan, no matter what. Tonyan could cost 5 mil to keep and is worth every penny
It is hard for us to say about what Boyle is worth.

If Boyle is must resign after our first round draft pick enters his second year on the roster...that will tell me all i need to know about what the Packers think of Love. If boyle is resigned, it should be with the intention to trade and get some loot for him.

Yeah to me you move on. If you need a backup if Rodgers goes down you get Love in there and get him some experience. See what you have in the player. It doesnt make any sense to throw Boyle out there anymore. Pick up and undrafted guy for camp. If Rodgers and Love both go down then it just isnt in the cards for us this year, you tank, get a good pick and look towards the future and if youre still in contention you can probably call up Boyle again as a FA because I doubt he gets signed.

Yeah so you also came to $8 million.

And Lewis said he wants to play. Lewis is also a PHENOMANAL BLOCKER. I mean he is so flipping good at it. We don't have a replacement for that. We need to resign Lewis.

Lewis = $2.0 to $2.5 Million
Tonyan = $3.5 Million

And then after guys like Raven Green, Lazard, Boyle, we are looking easy at another $2 million on top of that.

I think Boyle is a really tough decision. We don't want to let him walk for nothing. I hope we can somehow get to camp and then trade him.

Raven Greene cant stay healthy, I wouldnt put any resources into him that dont turn out to be just really team friendly.

Guys like Boyle can be found all the time, bye bye, Boyle.

Lazard is a must resign. He became an integral part of the team, and deserves a spot on the 2021 roster.

It would be nice to have Lewis back. I do not hold his age against him. He has always been healthy and available. I just hope that if we pay him then in a playoff game next year if the tackles are getting absolutely obliterated, he will be on the field next to them to offer them some help.

Tonyan will be interesting. There is definitely a number that he is not worth. That number might become smaller in a total cap crunch year. He is not the best blocker. He was a TD machine, but he was not even top 10 for TEs in multiple stats such as receptions, yards, receptions per game, yards per game.

I would probably hit our project that had a great year with a 2nd round tender and see what happens. That extra million for the first round tender will be needed in other places, and we apparently have drafted replacements for Tonyan. They were both drafted in the 3rd round...Unless Sternberger and technically a TE Deguara are total bust..it is there time to save us money and take over. Add in Lewis to the TE room and theoretically we should be set based on the resources we have put into the position.

Now i hope we bring back tonyan, he deserves to be a packer next year based on his season...just saying i do not think he is a "pay whatever it takes" player that demands the first round tender.

If the Packers don't put a 1st round tender on Tonyan, they will lose him. A second round pick and 5 mil is chump change for the proven best TE in the league.

Does your user name mean I should be skeptical of everything you post? I love Tonyan. He was damn good this year. But he is not the "proven best TE in the league". That goes to Travis Kelce.

I think 2nd round tender is fine to keep him.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least that they give him the low tender and match whatever another team offers. Not sure he's a guy the rest of the league will value near as much as we do. He wasn't a Pro Bowler and wasn't an All Pro. Another year, maybe. But don't see teams giving up a 2nd for him this year.

You often post way too confidently and absolutely, a little humility and humbleness goes a long way on things clearly nobody can know.

And also not sure if you are understanding how restricted free agency works if you think other teams would be paying Tonyan $5 million dollars.

It has been incredibly rare for both RFA to be tendered offers elsewhere and for TE's to be traded for a 2nd, which is essentially what would be occurring.

2nd Round tender compensation: $3.259 million
1st Round tender compensation: $4.641 million

I am not sure any team would offer up a 1st round pick for Tonyan or Lazard, but I could see teams giving up a 2nd round pick, so that worries me a bit.

this is one time, among others that I agree with Skeptic, 52 catches on 59 targets, his hands alone are worth 2nd round pick, we'll be in a bidding war with a 2nd round tender.

Would you trade a 2nd round pick for the following...
-A TE
-Who turns 27 before the season starts
-Who's only had 1 solid to very good year
-Who's never caught more than 60 passes in a year
-Who you know you have to give a new contract to. What contract you say? If he's the best TE in the NFL it would be something like $15M/year, $20M guaranteed at signing.
-You have to do this today, this year, in a lowered salary cap season.

Tell me what teams are doing this?

He had a lot of touchdowns which is great and useful, he was no where near the best TE in the league. He is not an above average blocker for a TE and he wasn’t top ten for TEs in multiple categories including receptions, yards, receptions per game, yards per game.

I think the difference in 2nd round tender and 1st will be money the packers will need elsewhere.

I think a 2nd returns him to GB fairly easy.

All good questions, I'd franchise tag him for the 5.6 mil. and work out a contract sometime this year, to me it comes down to production, Sternberger hasn't lived up to draft slot, Dequra is basically a unknown, Lewis is mostly a blocking TE, Tonyan may not have topped that 60 catch mark yet, but I expect he probably could, so I don't see the others getting 50 catches

We have no need to franchise him. I don't see any other team willing to pay him a top TE contract right now, while giving up a 2nd round pick. Even if it isn't top TE deal, let's say $10M/year (probably what Hunter Henry gets). I just don't see it happening. 2nd round tender and he's safely a Packer. Plus I think he'll be restricted for at least another year or 2. I forget the exact rules on that.

I dont “want” to lose him either but ya gotta look at what else you would have to lose in a cap crunch year if you go crazy to keep him, especially when the packers have drafted what should be replacements for him in the past 2 years with 3rd round picks
