Reports that Packers won't tender Tim Boyle. Not a surprise.
RIP JustJeff
Probably the wise thing to do as it would have cost too much money to do it.
A smart team is going to throw a contract at him. I think the Cowboys for instance would be very, very smart to go after Boyle because McCarthy knows he's actually really good.
RIP JustJeff
My guess is SF 49ers
Boyle knows the offense, Garappolo has missed a lot of time to injury and neither CJ Beathard nor Nick Mullens came thru when called upon
IT. IS. TIME
Amos's $1.5M roster bonus was turned into a signing bonus.
John Lovett also waived.

Our "FB" room is actually really exciting with Deguara and Dafney.
I don't think I like "deferring cap" for Preston.
I think we should have the right to eliminate cap for Preston based on his 2020 play.
He better be damn good in 2021.

Still don't have details. Some thought he might have outright taken a pay cut.

Rasgan Gary, number 12 overall pick, rotational guy.

Preston's restructure frees $7.25M in cap space, whereas cutting him would've been 8M.
I do like making big bucks for Preston contingent on pretty tough sack targets. He was good vs the run, but his rush game fell off badly past season. If he goes back to 12-sack Preston, I doubt anyone complains...
His career statline is pretty weird. A high sack season followed by a 4-sack season and then again a high sack season. Due a monster year.

Prestine's potential would be hard to replace, his sacks numbers took a big drop, total pass pressures not as badly, plus we ask him to drop into coverage to much, he'll be a good breather for both Gary and Z, this seems like a smart move.
Here's his contract prior to the restructure so we can compare.
This is what I come up with to better break down the Smith Restructure. Let me know if I did anything wrong.
To be honest, this is probably one of the most fair and well done restructures I have seen. We both gave up some. Preston stays a Packers for virtually the same price if he weren't a Packer at the cost of $3.25 million in 2022.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to draft an edge guy in the middle rounds.

Another way of looking at it is we signed Preston Smith to a 1 year contract worth $8 Million that we pay $750k in 2021 and $7.25 million in 2022.paco wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021 07:59Russ Ball"er"go pak go wrote: ↑12 Mar 2021 20:50To be honest, this is probably one of the most fair and well done restructures I have seen.
