your right, now I just read another stat sheet that gives him 26 TP's so thats a huge drop from the 60 he had in 019, so lets hope he return to 019 form, it pointed out that Preston normally averages around 45 pressures a season, when ya figure Gary had 44 PT's in 1/3 the snaps ya have to think this could be his break out season, still glad we can keep Preston around, he'll be motivated to play better or be gone next march.go pak go wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021 15:33He was bad. He graded very, very poorly by Andy Herman and I believe it.Yoop wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021 13:40No he wasn't, I just pointed out that he only had 10 or so less pressures then Z and he dropped into coverage 150+ times, with I'am thinking about 37 tackles, so how is that sooooooo bad?go pak go wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021 13:35Depth isn't a bad thing.
It gets really annoying listening to fans wanting to cut Player X because we don't need him and then b*tch in October on how we don't have any depth.
Last year it was right tackle and how much of a waste it was to have 3 starting tackles....until we needed them.
The Packers may also know something about Preston Smith that we don't during the 2020 season. Perhaps an injury or something. I feel very good about Preston being on the Packers if he produces like he did in 2019. If we see the same 2020 Preston Smith however in 2021, then yes...it will be a poor decision.
He was that bad last year.
He usually week in and week out was in the bottom 3 worst graded Packers in defense.
It's fun during the off-season to try and sugar coat player performances but that is not the case with Preston.
He had a very poor 2020.
And Z Smith didn't have a great 2020 either. I felt like Z got bailed out by some easy sacks to make his top line stat look respectable, but he really didn't have much impact either.

I was waiting all season for Z to have that dominant performance that he put up @MIN last year. That was one of the most enjoyable games by a Packer I have ever watched. Sadly, that Z just did not show up for us. And we *really* could have used it at the end.

The willingness to restructure Preston and Turner over Rodgers is very telling on the future of this team and its very sad.
Cancelled by the forum elites.

I am not sure why it's telling or why it's sad other than to support a completely unrelated narrative.

It tells us we are deferring money and that's it.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021 20:05The willingness to restructure Preston and Turner over Rodgers is very telling on the future of this team and its very sad.
Who is deferring makes no difference.
The good thing about Preston is he actually took a pay cut and likely $3 million off of the table. I respect that.
just maybe Gute is waiting till he see's who will be available in FA and if they will help the team before reworking Rodgers contract so he can add a player or two in FA.

They’re probably working on all the ones that need the player/agent agreement first to see where they are. Rodgers’ contract allowed for them to do simple restructures without him. He’s the slush fund that can be tapped for the right need at a moment’s notice. Right now they’re working to see how far they can get without that, and this set a budget for free agency
Yep, however they make this work, I believe Rodgers will be the last domino.
Read More. Post Less.
I mean we still at minimum need what....$10 million freed up? And that's just for draft picks, tendering Robert Tonyan and have some season cushion (like for instance....if Preston Smith has a monster year....we need cap to pay him for that)
So we still have a long way to go.

Probably because a lot of fans thought he was leaving this offseason.

This does not include the latest Adrian Amos restructure that saves $750K.

Here is the rookie draft pool:
#218 - $30,660
#212 - $36,050
#177 - $56,331
#173 - $65,801
#142 - $117,130
#135 - $34,735
#92 - $87,931
#62 - $212,683
#29 - $1,295,172
So this is the number we need to clear on the 51 to be under the cap - $1,955,038
Here is where we are right now with Amos' restructure - $1,811,383
While that number is $9 million it will push the bottom salaries off the 51 which will look like this:
#254 - $18,545#218 - $30,660
#212 - $36,050
#177 - $56,331
#173 - $65,801

If Adams, 12, and Z agree to get restructured we can still create quite a bit of space. Enough to be able to fill some holes in free agency.
I Do Not Hate Matt Lafleur
I think the team would be better served with extensions for Z and Adams. The Rodgers contract is an obvious and simple restructure, as you said.
A part of me thinks that's true. But the team keeps talking about adding players in the off season or at least hints to that effect. They can't do that unless they rework Rodgers contract.
Deep down, I don't see them being all that active in free agency.
Another thing that seems silly, all of the talk I'm hearing about signing Will Fuller. Don't see how they can add him before a deal is worked out with Adams first.
Honestly if we can find ourselves a deal at CB or DL....I think it will be a really successful Free Agency for us.
We don't need much. And I just don't see much value in signing a WR unless it is for SUPER cheap. I think we also look at a Vet Minimum RB deal.

I fully expect an Adams deal to be announced at some point.Christo wrote: ↑14 Mar 2021 11:33A part of me thinks that's true. But the team keeps talking about adding players in the off season or at least hints to that effect. They can't do that unless they rework Rodgers contract.
