Yeah, it came up briefly on a previous page before or between arguments about word definitions...Backthepack4ever wrote: ↑28 Mar 2021 22:33So anyone else hear the far fetched rumors linking gb and cordarrelle patterson??? but I hope that it happens; seems like it's based one one tweet being liked, which is thin; but Patterson is an active tweeter. So maybe that's his m.o.
Lots of guys getting signed for cheap by teams who are close but want to get closer. Jarran Reed signs with the chiefs on a one year deal.

Am I the only one that is relieved the Lane Taylor chapter is over?

yes.
Well, get over it. I like the options we have and I like the potential to add other bodies via The Draft way more than I like bringing Taylor back again after largely not playing for two years.

No reason to be mad that Taylor was on the team at a vet minimum deal. That was a win for the Packers. Obviously the Packers valued availability.
I am excited for Stepaniak. I think Packers fans are a little too over hyped for Runyan because we fall victim all the time of giving such benefit of the doubt to rookies because they are rookies.
I remember a time when fans adored Don Barclay as our 6th Olineman too.
This may be one of my favorite posts so far this year.
I feel the exact same, although I saw enough from Runyan last year to leave me really, really excited. I still think Stepaniak can be the best of the trio we drafted last year. I hope he gets a fair shot at a starting spot.

I did like the idea of Taylor for one more year if only because Jenkins might be out swing tackle and/or C, so Runyan and Patrick as the top two guards is a little underwhelming and a little thin.
But I also want to draft at least 2 OL, so yeah, Taylor is more of an insurance policy to me than a need.
But I’m more upset that Patterson didn’t come join us for a year. One year $3 million is about exactly what I expected for him, and when rumors align with your wants, it’s easy to get hopes up.
STs/RB3/slot receiver option... All with good size. Fills three needs for $3 million with more experience than the rookies I like for those roles could provide, obvi.
Still plenty of room in the draft to make up for that. Just would’ve been nice

Yeah, I would have loved that. He is pretty perfect for what we do and one of the best KR in the NFL over the past decade.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑16 Apr 2021 09:16But I’m more upset that Patterson didn’t come join us for a year. Yeah, I dunno why anyone would say we're "over-hyped" on Runyan when he looks like he's a good player right off the bat, as advertised, and will only get better. Stepaniak got very mixed reviews pre-draft on his ability to display the movement skills and athleticism needed at the NFL level. He is a bully and that is good to have and if he hits the minimum baseline for movement as he develops, he can be another Lane Taylor type for us.
But we're more excited about Runyan because he is a safer bet, he actually played and practiced last year, and his pre-draft measurables and workouts fit the exact mold of players that we have had enormous success with in the past. Counting on him seems like a very typical draft and develop 2nd-year opportunity. Counting on a guy whose movement skills were questionable before his injury and who barely practiced with the team in year one, on the other hand, is all hope; it absolutely might pan out. But there are very valid reasons to be more excited about Runyan than Stepaniak.
imagine that, Packer fans excited when a rookie plays Stepaniak didn't, Runyan did, why would anyone be more excited for a guy that didn't play versus one who did, Runyan is miles ahead of Stepaniak right now, and that probably wont change once the season starts.go pak go wrote: ↑16 Apr 2021 08:20No reason to be mad that Taylor was on the team at a vet minimum deal. I'm excited for both. But I would have loved to have Taylor as a low cost insurance policy.Yoop wrote: ↑16 Apr 2021 11:30imagine that, Packer fans excited when a rookie plays Stepaniak didn't, Runyan did, why would anyone be more excited for a guy that didn't play versus one who did, Runyan is miles ahead of Stepaniak right now, and that probably wont change once the season starts.go pak go wrote: ↑16 Apr 2021 08:20No reason to be mad that Taylor was on the team at a vet minimum deal.
