'Heart torn into a million pieces': Packers' Aaron Jones mourns death of father, Alvin Jones Sr.

Post by Bogey »

So sad. I met Mr. Jones and got to talk to him many days when I was working at Packers Training Camp. He was there every day to watch practice and support Aaron. He was so proud of Aaron. Rest In Peace, Mr. Jones. You are the definition of class and dignity and it’s obvious where Aaron gets his character from. 😥
Alvin Jones Sr., the father of Alvin Jones Jr. and Aaron Jones, was a 29-year military veteran.

The Packers lunatic fringe is more visible because of sheer numbers. The Packers have one of the largest fan bases in all of sports. If the fringe percentage is the same as with other teams, then we end up with larger volumes of nut jobs. - JustJeff

My heart breaks for Aaron and his family.

Was his dad sick?

No, his death was unexpected, though I haven’t seen a cause of death posted.

Here’s something Aaron wrote about his father last year;
The truth for me is that I’ve had a bigger man to look up to all my life, setting the example, leading the way. My dad is the greatest man I’ve ever encountered. The things he’s done for me in my life — he’s been there every step of the way. He taught me everything. He taught me to keep God first — that with God, anything is possible. He taught me to believe in myself.

He showed me how a man’s supposed to be a man.
