Brugler's British 2021 Big Board

Hi folks

I find the only thing I really need to enjoy draft weekend is a big board. Most of them are just lists of the top 100 players or whatever. Useless. It needs to be broken down into positional tiers and stacked all the way to the 7th round and below to really give you a feel for how the draft is going and keep things interesting into Day 3. [mention]Waldo[/mention] got me hooked with his a few years ago.

So in that vein, I took Dane Brugler’s ‘The Beast’ draft preview and inputted all his positional rankings into their respective round tiers. I’ve then added each player’s Relative Athletic Score (RAS) next to each. The Packers almost always choose guys with high RAS scores (8-10). In fact Gute has only drafted 3 players under RAS 8 and they were in rounds 3 and below.

I’ve also added in a bunch of other stuff such as highlighting OT's with arms that are shorter than 33 inches (Packers haven’t taken an OT with sub 33” arms for ages). Same for Corners under 5’11 and WRs under 5’10. They occasionally make exceptions (Jaire was 5’10 and 3/4s) but these are their general thresholds. It’s basically playing the percentages. They probably miss out on the odd player who is good but the idea is they will also avoid more guys that can’t do it in the NFL due to physical limitations.

The Packers also generally draft younger guys and avoid older ones so I've added that in.

I’ll be printing these out and ticking them off during the draft so I made one grey and one white so it’s easy to know which one to grab.

Let me know if there’s anything I’m missing or if you can think of other data to add.

I've updated the spreadsheet that [mention]BF004[/mention] used last year. Hope that's ok.

Looking at where the possible strengths and weaknesses of the draft my initial takeaways are:

- Edge rushers look good in the top two rounds but then drop off and then come back in rounds 5 and 6
- CB has guys all the way through the draft that fit what the Packers go for.
- DL is the same. It's pretty thin pickings but the few that are there are spread out pretty evenly.
- WR looks strong in the top 2 rounds then garbage until round 7.
- OL looks strong through the first 4 rounds with more guys in 6 and 7. Could see Packers double dipping both WR and OL, one early, one late.

JK. Jaire has a chance to be one of the best Packers DBs ever. Also a great Packer personality.

Yeah, I started just filling in the high RAS scores but then realised half the fun is crossing off the bad RAS guys that the Packers probably don't want. So I filled in all the rest.

our seasons have ended to early, as a result we start digging into the draft earlier, easy remade, win super bowls, by the time we finish celebrating it'll be mid march

I think Covid deleting the combine has been the real drain on all of us, now there is basically nothing from Feb. till the end of April, thats a long time for a fan to go without any organized football activity

Thanks guys. This board got me hooked on the draft thanks to the big boards created by [mention]Waldo[/mention] so glad to make my contribution. Filling it out has also helped me get my head around some of the prospects.

I don't have time to grind the tape but happy to use the work of others like Brugler.

I'm definitely feeling the sentiments of [mention]YoHoChecko[/mention]. I'm ready for Draft night!
