Tampa pass rush rolled right over the OL, Rodger rarely had time to complete his route progressions, and when he did to often no one was open, a shifty slot WR is the answer for that, so obviously one could have made difference in that game, lupedafiasco wrote: ↑05 May 2021 20:02MVS showed up and balled out against the Bucs. Hes got nothing to be ashamed of the way he played that game. Adams needed to be better with the opportunities he had considering the Bucs did everything they could to take him away. Lazard had the worst game Ive seen from a WR in a long time. Maybe since Adams struggle bus years.
Adams had about 10 or 11 catches in that game, for a measly 70 yrds or so, Tampa was not going to allow him to beat them, and the others couldn't get open quick enough to beat the pass rush, so of course I think a player like Ayuik, or our 3rd round choice this season could have helped us win
people act as though because we had the #1 offense, that a quality slot receiver, or another impact player like a RB wouldn't have changed anything, that goes against everything I know about the game, one play is often the only thing that decides a game, and against heavy pass rush the faster your receiver can get open the quicker the QB can get rid of the ball, also, a motion player freezes a defense for the split second it takes for MVS/ Adams/ etc to get a jump on the defender.
now Ervins stats don't quite show his effectiveness, ya wont see a stat for a jet sweep fake, yet that drags half the defense in that direction, and Ervin got 7 yrds every time he touched the ball, just enough that the defense had to honor every jet fake, so my thinking is that a better slot receiver wouldn't have faked it as often, and when he does it would hold the defense just a little longer.
seems like some of you are so bent on saying a slot guy wouldn't have mattered, and that in itself just makes no sense to me
