Why Aaron Rodgers' role model should be another Packer quarterback, Cecil Isbell.

the cecil Isbell story is hardly known by football fans, he didn't get the glamour, he gave the team the middle finger as Rodgers is doing, but Cecil did it right,, but both where/are the best of there era.

WAIT WHAT!!!????

Do you REALLY think Cecil did it right?

THERE ARE WAY MORE PLAYERS ON A TEAM THAN JUST THE QB AND HIS PERSONAL FRIENDS!!!!!!! Where's the consideration for the rest of 'em!?

Cecil $%@# all the rest of the players over. Just like AR would do if he quit the town now for his personal gain. And blame it all on the management, when it's really his choice.

Shameful. Just a shame.

I can't believe you'd ever go this direction, yoop.

PS. There's an implication that Bill Belichick's model was wrong. Count the rings.

did you even let the context of the reason he quit sink in, or the era he played in when players couldn't support themselves just playing football, or that his end would come as soon as Lambeau as Guty just did replace him, this is a fend for yourself world because the people in charge are me first people too, , Curly demonstrated that years ago when he tried to steal the team from the town, and Guty did it drafting his own QB prior to decline of the one he inherited.

I agree the author was very opinionated, the point was as the article said, these two QB's had a few things in common

and shame on you for ever thinking I would side with this FO when they lack the tack to even have a conversation with a player prior to cutting them, direction I would go, what is this you attacking my fan hood, to funny :rotf:

post script, people don't bring stuff here because the article is attacked, and then the poster is attacked, you couldn't just read the article though, and I thought the stuff about Herber and Isbel', the comments from George Hallas, and the opinion that Isbil was probably the HO famer that never got the glory was enlightening reading, guess you didn't, it was more important for you to cretic and insult me. :box: :box: :box: :box: :box:

Me, either. Is the AR 3000 a spin off of the Turbo Grafx?

We cannot possibly be equating those two things, can we?

no I suppose not to the same degree, (a little perhaps) but I still stand fast with Rodgers doesn't owe us a damn thing, if he decides to retire, as Isbil did, thats his right, and this has nothing to do with loyalty to his team mates, it's about loyalty to oneself, specially concerning such a small part as a football career, like Isbil Rodgers saw the future once Guty took Love, he would be replaced with a cheaper QB prior to end of contract, unlike Isbil who just said screw you and quit, Rodgers is pissing a hissy fit, my point with Isbil did it right, and as the article pointed out was Isbil didn't bother to pitch a fit, just quit.

times are different, back then football didn't pay much, heck he went to be a coach and probably made more money, not the same today, Rodgers would be foolish to just quit, has far more to lose, and the commenality between the two is that both are/where considered among the best to play at there moment of decension

we may never agree about much of this stuff, I look at sports contracts as mostly to protect the team, almost completely one sided, a player under contract has almost no rights or protection, and the team has all control of him, totally barbaric, and I doubt that the situation last as long as this contract intends it to, this year players are not attending OTA's , I expect there will be a bunch of hold outs to manditory's, possibly TC to, what happens next year, or the year after?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that Isbell was able to leave because he could make much more money being a college assistant coach than an NFL player. :dunno:

who knows, I couldn't find that info, it's probable though, and Cecil coached for many years, even as a assistant to Lambeau when he coached the Cardinals.
