Rank The Roster: 2021 Edition

17. Krys Barnes (42%)[+26]
18. Kevin King (40%)[-8]
19. Current (xx%)[--]

Percent of vote the winner got will be in parenthesis, position change vs. 2020 will be in brackets.

Here's how this works:

Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll.

Simply voting is not enough!

Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 10 guys, a new player is added to the list each day).

Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

I'm starting with Lazard, but I could see a case to be made that Funchess will cut into his snaps and reduce his role; while having Amari Rodgers also decreases Lazards' slot time. So he may be squeezed down from starter to rotational player.

- Love, should he start, is basically in the same situation as Myers with a full offseason.
- Stokes will get playing time, but I think he has to be behind those two.

Really, we don't know anything about any of the 3, but all were high draft picks. Myers is clearly the most likely to start of the bunch.

- Deguara vs Sternberger. Jace disappointed last year and had injury issues. Josiah was out all year basically, but has an offensive role saved for him.
- Keke the next DL up or Lancaster?
- Patrick or Runyan at RG?
- Amari Rodgers vs Lazard?

Its getting tough. I think Myers is the safe pick here despite being a rookie.

Throw out some names to put up next.

Yeah I'm going Lazard and probably inching up to Eric Stokes next. I am assuming Stokes will get good snaps this year and should be voted pretty close to Kevin King.

But I am going Lazard today. He just can't get injured like he did last year.

What to make of Keke?

He put together a solid end of the year last year and won't have an entrenched "starter' to compete against given the new DC. I think he's had some offseason puff pieces as well this year.

There's a decent chance he grabs the #2 IDL spot this year.

It's true that Myers and probably Keke will probably have larger roles than Lazard, but I'm not sure they'll fill their roles better.

Keke is a mystery to me. He feels like more hope than hype.

Myers and Stokes coming up soon. Keke not before Lowry to me.

Stokes should have went in front of King imo, but Myers should of went before both, but flip a coin, all 3 including Amari Rodgers, Lazard, will get a ton of reps this season.

Went Keke. He was showing flashes before his season ended. Going into year 3 its time for him to be a big part on the DL. Maybe more of a projection but I think he can be an 8 sack type of guy. Dean has not been good his snaps will disappear

Kingsley is another beautiful mystery...

here are year- end comments from McGinn:

Kingsley Keke (36.3 percent of snaps)

"His development in Year 2 was impressive. His 17 pressures ranked second to Kenny Clark on the unit, and his pressures per snap rate of one every 24.5 ranked first. The Packers used a fifth-round draft choice on Keke in 2019 in hopes of unearthing a hard-to-find interior rusher. His speed (4.95) and long arms (34 1/2 inches) were positives. He beat blockers with his first two steps, and displayed a burst to finish the job.

Keke, however, is anything but a complete player. He isn’t very big (6-2 1/2, 288 pounds), and that hurts him holding up against double teams. He thinks pass rush first, and on early downs opponents took advantage of that mindset by running right at him. He ranked last on the unit in tackles per snap (one every 18.9). His season ended three games early because of a concussion."

Myers again for me. Starting C hands down. Only going to improve as the season goes on as the line gets more cohesion and he gains more experience. In LaFleurs scheme hes gonna be given every chance to succeed.

There are plenty of players who deserve consideration here. Myers, Runyan, Lazard, Stokes will probably start over King.

The problem is that choice #1 isn't going to be a Packer much longer and his successor is still on the board.

Jordan Love for my choice. Hi should have gone in the top 3

I am voting Love, here. This is the Mason Crosby vote of this exercise for this season. As I look at it, though, I am not sure Love's uncertainty is any worse than some of these other guys. Myers will play, but will he be good? Lazard has competition for snaps, Keke has competition for snaps. IF, and it is a big if, Jordan Love plays, he doesn't. Even if Rodgers comes back and Love doesn't play, I think as back-up QB, I can look at some of these other guys and see Jordan Love is a better player based on nothing else but projection.
