Yoop, while I agree that O is proactive and D is reactive, the exact reason why the D has an advantage (or at least a more level playing field) prior to the actual games is precisely because the O isn't doing all it can to beat the D when they're just practicing running plays. The O does have an advantage in actual games where they've scouted the D, select plays and matchups to beat 'em and scheme to optimally beat the D. You don't do that to the max in minicamps.Yoop wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 12:15I heard Yoho's response to my comment a half hour ago, did you and 23 miss him telling me that Lafluer said defenses have the upper hand??????go pak go wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 12:08This literally couldn't be more wrong.Yoop wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 11:19or maybe they wanted to see if Love could hit a moving target more then 10 yrds down field, and this throwing into tight coverahe gets over blown, 3 passes into tight coverage, going 2 out of 3, and 14 of 23 is nothing to set bank on from the 2nd day of minni camp, good to see, but often the offense has the upper hand in minny's and TC.
The defense almost always has the upper hand in spring and TC practices. It's why every year we got so excited about Dom Caper's defenses.
I don't agree, unless the defense knows prior what the play is, trhen the offense always has th upper hand because they do know what the play is.
so thanks for ganging up, so noted.
sorry Sal, I mis read your response.salmar80 wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 12:22Yoop, while I agree that O is proactive and D is reactive, the exact reason why the D has an advantage (or at least a more level playing field) prior to the actual games is precisely because the O isn't doing all it can to beat the D when they're just practicing running plays. I would talk about how the leading story for many TC's the past decade has been Rodgers throwing a lot of interceptions and the defenses looking great, but I have come to accept you will take that anecdotal evidence and just say, "sorry I disagree".Yoop wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 12:30sorry Sal, the added advantage that the offenses has over the defense is not limited to any situation, I think Lafluer said that in defense of the offense and Love, and thats cool, but he'll never convince me of that, except for situation of new scheme installs and the like, last year our offense showed what I'am talking about.salmar80 wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 12:22Yoop, while I agree that O is proactive and D is reactive, the exact reason why the D has an advantage (or at least a more level playing field) prior to the actual games is precisely because the O isn't doing all it can to beat the D when they're just practicing running plays. and this isn't me thinking I know more then Lafluer, simply that I think Lafluer waqs defending his QB and players.
And then either next year or two years from now we will forget about this conversation and you will say, "defenses are always better in the spring and TC so I'm not too impressed."
Heck I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Rodgers shows up for TC this summer...throws a lot of picks and people are asking if his holdout was a bad idea and you come to his defense saying, "eeehhhh. I wouldn't read too much into the ints. everyone knows the dfense always has teh upper hand this time of year."
Okay I am starting to get excited about our 4th round pick this year.
that is the offense simply not worrying about throwing picks or taking chances they wouldn't normally, that doesn't mean the defense is better, more that it gets to take advantage of offenses doing stuff it wouldn't do in regular games, big difference, but you think whatever you want.go pak go wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 12:41I would talk about how the leading story for many TC's the past decade has been Rodgers throwing a lot of interceptions and the defenses looking great, but I have come to accept you will take that anecdotal evidence and just say, "sorry I disagree".Yoop wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 12:30sorry Sal, the added advantage that the offenses has over the defense is not limited to any situation, I think Lafluer said that in defense of the offense and Love, and thats cool, but he'll never convince me of that, except for situation of new scheme installs and the like, last year our offense showed what I'am talking about.salmar80 wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 12:22

Newman?
Honestly, he's low key the guy I need to see the most from in his rookie contract because I have a hard time not thinking of him as "the OG who we took while Kenny Gainwell was somehow still on the board while we are stocked at OG." If he winds up a starting RT or a high-level OG, I can deal.

Ya, he's is absolutely thin skinned. I tweeted at him asking if he could find anything of substance on the Rodgers situation instead of retweeting Schefter. Blocked. Was polite about it too.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 11:58Andy Herman tweeted the music playlist earlier today and I replied "please stop" and have since been blocked. I can’t wait for camp. I feel like so far the Packers are using people all over to sort things out, especially on the OL.
Jordan Love’s first meaningful NFL playing time. AJ Dillon is going to body preseason defenses. Kylin Hill I though was a steal. Josiah Deguara, Jace Bumburger, maybe a sleeper in Dafney. Amari Rodgers, uhhh... well that’s it at receiver. I guess to see if ESB takes a step, if MVS builds on the NFCC, and if Funchess really cares about football and tries. The entire OL battle is gonna be insane. So many players in the mix at RG, rookie at C. Depth at OT is wide open.
The defensive scheme is general is interesting. Keke needs to take a step and take over for Dean Lowry who is committing a robbery on our cap. Slaton is so intriguing as a youngin. ILB is wide open I think. Anyone could win that battle and with Campbell added in it will be interesting. They all suck but everyone’s likes a good midget wrestling show right? CB to me is the best battle. I want to see Stokes against NFL receivers. I think against big possession types he gets rolled but time will tell. Will King continue to get cooked like a pizza put in the oven by someone stoned out of their mind? I really want to see Jean-Charles. Chandon had a rough season after a promising rookie year. This is Josh Jackson’s last shot. I liked Holman. And finally safety. I really liked Scott out of TCU. Maybe he plays more with the star position wide open.
So many great battles. I wanna see how the depth chart shakes out.

Cancelled by the forum elites.
I really thought you'd have gotten more creative with him. If nothing else, Boozeburger seems more fitting.
That said, I'd wager just about every person on this forum has made the same bad choice Sternberger made with getting behind the wheel after a night of drinking - only didn't get caught. Just about every young kid does it at some point. I'm willing to cut the kid some slack...so long as he legitimately learns from his mistake.
Anyway, I'm really interested to see the WR room shake out. Gotta figure Adams, MVS, Lazard, and Rodgers are locks. That leaves only 1-2 slots available between Funchess, EQSB, Taylor, and a gaggle of 1st/2nd yr players. Winfree has been showing out thus far. Taylor has been first up as a gunner. Gaither has shown some things.
Gotta figure there won't be a ton of roster spots to spare at final cut-downs. If the team is gonna horde a position group, I'd lean toward OL with all the talent there. That, despite the pending FA status of nearly every WR in the room - although that could weigh in heavily when it comes down to it.
If I'm Funchess, I'm not making any real estate purchases just yet. If I'm EQSB, I'm a little nervous.
That's crazy. I always took Andy to be a pretty cool guy, that actually changes my perspective of him.Pckfn23 wrote: ↑10 Jun 2021 12:49Ya, he's is absolutely thin skinned. lets see, 2 people from a small internet forum text him with request, I bet no one else in Packer fan ship ever text Heerman with request, specially concerning Rodgers or minni camps, I bet he gets a 1000 text a day, just imagine how busy he is.Acrobat wrote: ↑11 Jun 2021 08:03That's crazy. I don’t hold it against him. This isn’t even his primary job. I can see him being like “You don’t like it, forget it” and moving on. I just wish I knew that about him. I’d have left him alone and kept his tweets. I was just playing around because the playlist updates have become a joke over the years. I’d gladly trade his insights for my silence. Too late now, though.
Time to create that Twitter alter-ego. Heck, I've got 22 accounts on this site alone just so I can like my own posts...YoHoChecko wrote: ↑11 Jun 2021 08:14I don’t hold it against him.
