QB spending vs Non-QB spending from Over The Cap
Which teams have expensive QBs ? Which teams are spending to surround them with talent ?
https://overthecap.com/non-qb-nfl-spending/

Image

"The way I would read this is that teams in the top right quadrant have expensive QBs and are investing a lot in the rest of their roster despite what is being spent on the QB. Those in the bottom right are relying heavily on rookie talent and/or are relying on the QB to push them over the top. The top left are the teams with lower cost QB situations and trying to surround their teams with as much talent as possible. Those in the bottom left have cheap QB rooms but are being more cautious with their spending on the rest of the roster."

You would expect a downward slope from the left top to the bottom right to emerge and I guess if you did some sort of "best fit" line, you might see something approximating that, but boy, that's a lot more scattershot than I imagined it would be.

Used to look forward to TC. Haven't for some time as the restrictions mean there's not much point. The cuts have to be made, but it seems as if the first few regular season games are for evaluating the roster. Has anything changed lately to make following TC worthwhile?
Used to look forward to game 6 of the preseason, because I knew then the real season would start. Kids these days don't know how easy they have it.
I remember when the Giants went 6-0 in PS their fans were really optimistic, but since they played starters for almost the whole of the PS games they wound up something 2 - 12 when the real shooting started. :P
Not sure, but if these are digs against preseason games, I'm on board. What I'm bemoaning is the fact that TC doesn't help show who's got the ability.

We can all say what we want about Truby.

Fact is. He has made more money with the Bears than most of us will in our life and his wife is HOT.

So yeah. He's killin it.

I think my life is pretty good. My wife and I are setting ourselves up to be top 5 to top 2/3 percenters.

But Mitch is already top 0.5 percenter. He is in the elite. I mean why wouldn't anyone want that life?

But I actually always felt like being Mason Crosby would be the best life.

Well, its a package deal.
If you want Mitch's bank account, you have to accept that you're fabulously famous for being an epic bust - an infamy you'd never outrun.
Given your comments above, I''m putting you down for a "No" as far as swapping lives with Mitch. Same here, I wouldn't trade.

Moral of the story: Its a bitch to be Mitch :)

Mitch has made $29 million. You? I'd love to be that kind of failure.

Absolutely not. The dude made it to the big league. Even if he didn't succeed with his first team in the big league, he made it. He went for it.

No I'd trade for Mitch in a second.

anyone that thinks a starting QB in the NFL is a loser is a moron, thats why I don't think BSA is being forth right about anything he said, all along I think he was more concerned with setting up his Joke " It's a bitch to be Mitch" it was funny, gotta give him that.

Interesting comments.
Before you sign the deal, I'd ask Tony Mandarich how life is being a bust...massive depression, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse and more. Just a terrible way to go through life. Everywhere he went he was reminded of his bust status - and that was in the days before social media.
Being an "NFL QB" is certainly cool - but Mitch isn't an "NFL QB" in the public eye.

He's the 2nd pick of the draft who got dumped for totally sucking. That never goes away and I'm pretty sure that you'd all rue the day you made the switch. Its a bad deal and a &%$@ life - your whole life was dedicated to being The Man- and everybody knows - you're definitely not The Man.
Your kids would have to eat it at school too, effing up their lives as well. I'm kinda surprised some would make the trade, I guess the lure of millions is too much to pass up - even for people on pace to be a 5% er.

This is a great middle ground between the "Mitch is a failure" and the "I'd trade in a heartbeat."

Obviously, any NFL QB is better at throwing a football than most of us are at anything, be it analyzing budgets or fixing up planes. Calling that person a loser or a failure stinks.

But to ignore that being PERCEIVED by a broad public as a loser and a failure has a tremendously negative impact on your day-to-day life is probably unwise.

Whoah. whoa. whoah.

Whole life? Mitch Trubisky is 26 years old. That is far from a whole life.

Most people at 26 years old are failures or stink at what they do (mostly due to inexperience). It's rare for a 26 year old to make over $70k in income.

No even if Mitch gets out of the league before 30....he has plenty of time to reinvent himself.

And likely at least $20 million in the bank to support that reinvention whereas most other 30 year olds are working many hours to get $80k or less and tens of thousands in student loans.

Manderich was a steriod junkie, and would have failed with any team, Trubisky was drafted by a team that hasn't produced a quality QB in FOREVER, plus he's never played a full season, now obviously the Bears didn't make a wise choice picking him second, but thats not Trubisky's fault and with a different team the odds are that he's better, hopefully Love does better.

This is the biggest misconception there is regarding Manderich. He wasn't a steroid junkie. He was a VERY under control steroid user. He was a painkiller and alcohol junkie. That is what ruined any chance he had of making it in Green Bay.

That E60 special about him was probably my favorite Packers video ever. I really wish he would come back for a game sometime. He has said he won't because he doesn't think Packers fans would forgive him. I, for one, sure would. He was grown a lot as a person and would salute him for that.
